Preview: Score Football 2013

Panini is celebrating 25 years of Score football in a big way. Score football the 2013 edition will deliver a huge 50-card Hobby Jumbo Packs and three autograph or memorabilia cards per hobby box when it releases in late May.

The rookie cards give credit to the original rookie card design. New to this years product are memorabilia cards and also are returning parallel favorites in Score Card, Gold Zone, and Red Zone and Artist Proofs.

2013 Score Football Smith   2013 Score Football Lacy  2013 Score Football Von Miller  2013 Score Football Bernard (Retail)

I for one am very excited to be able to celebrate with this product as its one of my favorites. It will seem a little different that Prestige won't be the first Panini product out for 2013 NFL, but it works. I think this years Score will be a fun break and hopefully with the new additions prices won't go up. This is a kid friendly and affordable product year in and year out.

Preview: UD Goodwin Champions 2013

One of my favorite products of the year that combines multiple sports, Upper Deck Goodwin Champions is set to release in July 2013 packing 3 autographs and 10 minis per a hobby box.

Of course it also packs one of the most unique popular inserts out there in the Animal Kingdom patches. I think they are pretty cool myself. I only own one, but I plan on keeping it. I know its not really a sports card per say, but its a fun chase in a product that combines a lot of different features.

Fan Box Break:2013 Press Pass Total Memorabilia NASCAR Blaster Box

2013 Press Pass Total Memorabilia Nascar - This is an interesting Blaster box, $20 get's you 5 cards and only 1 hit. I kept seeing it so I had to see what it was all about. The cards are pretty nice - Base set looks cool, the 2 inserts are decent and the Sheet Metal card is pretty awesome. Was it worth $20?? Not really. If the hit was a big name i.e. Gordon, Earnhardt, Danica, Jimmy then maybe. But the 5 cards for $20 and it's retail thing just doesn't seem like a box I can buy frequently. This product gets a 8/10 for Design, 8/10 for quality and 4/10 for value. I do recommend buying a box if you are a Nascar fan because the cards are nice but I do not recommend buying 5 or more of them.

Fan Box Break: 2013 Topps Heritage Baseball Blaster Box

2013 Heritage Blaster - Another enjoyable product that replicates an old school style. Unfortunately, this product no longer has the feel of an older card which is disappointing. Still though, it is a fairly decent product and enjoyable to break in small quantities. I pulled a few cool rookie cards, a sweet Beatles card, a Wal-Mart Blue Yu Darvish and the Zimmerman mini. The Zimmerman mini I was pretty excited about due to the fact that it is hand numbered. I believe that adds a nice touch to the rarity of the card, it is much more exciting than a printed serial number. Overall this product is one of my least favorites because I simply find myself bored after 6 or so packs. 5/10 for design 5/10 for quality 6/10 for value.

Review: Topps Heritage Baseball Blaster 2013

Everyone was raving about this product..how could I not give it a go. This is a product though I wouldn't invest hobby money into. One, its got one hit per hobby box. Most likely 9 out of 10 times its a no name memorabilia hit. But thats just my opinion. I have seen big hits as well. But for me, its a retail buy. I have even hit a red auto before from retail which might be more than I would have pulled from hobby. I am not one to put $70 into a one hit product. For that price I am looking for multiple hits. Like I said, just my opinion.

Now onto my other thoughts:

Box Break Down:
  • 7 Packs Per Box, 9 Cards Per Pack
  • 1 Blue Walmart Parallel per box
  • $20 a Box

Base Card
Back Of Base

BASE CARDS: The design pays tribute to 1964. Though the design isn't bad, the cards don't have the "Heritage" feel anymore. They still have the scent of Heritage, but the feel of the cards are much thinner. And the cardboard doesn't have the classic rough feel like they used to. This part of the base cards was disappointing. I do like base sets that include managers and that make the subsets different than the base such as league leaders and the rookie cards.

INSERTS:  I like the News Flashback design but the other two inserts feel like subset cards to me. Not very exciting. The Blue Parallels are unique. And if you stick anything with chrome on it...I am very happy.
AUTOGRAPHS: N/A

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS:N/A
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Don't know if we got our value back or not from this break. Will have to wait til the price guide hits to judge. But first assumption would be about even or a little amount in return. The base design is nice.Heritage despite a little different feel is still one of my favorite buys of the year and I would probably try it again in retail form.

RATINGS:  Bloggers Note: Our ratings are based specifically on the blaster, box or packs we opened and do not express what the overall product could bring. Ratings based on a 1-5. 1 Being the lowest and 5 being the highest.

Preview: Upper Deck Retro Basketball 12-13

Upper Deck created a buzz in the basketball card world as all of us anticipated the return of Fleer products. Though this is a high end product that most of us can't afford, it does bring back some favorite that set you back about 10 years and brings you memories of collecting in the 90's the most popular years I believe of the hobby. But for those of you who can afford it, its a collectors dream product if you were a fan of Fleer.

The product base set breaks down to 50 Regular Cards and 30 Rookie Sensations.

Here are a few images:

The box configuration is 5 cards per pack. 10 packs per inner box. 2 inner boxes per a main hobby box. On average, there are 6 autographs per a main box meaning 3 autographs per inner box. There are also 4 inserts per box.
