Retro Break: 1997-1998 Donruss Priority Hockey

Recently went to my first flea market and found a bunch of deals. This only cost me $1a pack. I bought two packs because that's all they had.

Each pack came with an oversized Postcard and 5 cards as well. There was a chance at inserts as well.

And here are the two postcards:

Retro Break: 1989 Upper Deck Baseball

Recently went to my first flea market and found a bunch of deals. This only cost me $1a pack. I bought two packs because that's all they had.

Each pack came with a chance at a Griffey Jr. Rookie. Other key rookie cards to find in 1989 Upper Deck is Gary Sheffield, John Smoltz, Randy Johnson, Craig Biggio and Omar Vazquel.

And at only a $1 a pack for 1989 Upper Deck baseball..I was digging in what they were selling!!

Packs on eBay range from $3-$6 each.

Can't call this a "wax" pack..cause this baby is a weird form of foil.

I had forgotten about these til they came flying out of the packs when I opened them. Two came per pack.

Always love finding Ripken Jr. in my packs. You know you at least have some value even if its just a base card.

Upper Deck has always had great photography with interesting shots. It all started with their first release!

Nope..this guy was not the rookie we were looking for. Too be honest, I have no idea who Felix Jose is.

No Griffey Jr's in this break..was a little disappointing but at the same time exciting as it was nice to see Upper Deck MLB cards again. And the excitement it brought to find two packs of this just lying around in a bin for $1 with the chance of landing the most iconic card in Upper Deck history was enough for me.

Thank You Alex Rodriguez

As the title states, Thank You Alex Rodriguez for being involved with PED's and for ruining peoples card collections including my own. As a punishment, I will be taking you from the STAR players binder you were once in and now you can find yourself in the dreaded Box. The Box.

SCC
In high school, The Box was a small enclosed area with a chair and desk where they would put kids who were causing trouble in the classroom or had detention. My form of The Box is a white 800 ct box where I stick players I am no longer collecting. Ones that are in detention. Its a place where former STARS (according to my binder rules) and players I used to collect who lost my respect go. Alex, you will find yourself in The Box as a form of a lifetime detention with the likes of Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds among others.

Now this doesn't mean I am going to go sell everything Rodriguez because of what he did. He is human like the rest of us. We all slip and make mistakes. This just means his cards are hidden from view. He doesn't deserve to be in binders with the likes of Derek Jeter and my homeboy Ken Griffey Jr and others.

I must also say having another one of my "STAR" players hit The Box again may also turn me further away from wanting to collect baseball cards full time. I just never know who else could end up in there. The risk isn't worth the reward to me.

In closing, Thank You Alex Rodriguez. Another fallen star who I once enjoyed watching play and collecting.I hope you don't get a lifetime ban from baseball since others in your situation didn't, but I do believe you have more than earned a lifetime ban to The Box.

Retro Break: 1989 Bowman Baseball

Recently went to my first flea market and found a bunch of deals. This only cost me $1a pack. I bought two packs because that's all they had.

Each pack came with a chance at a Griffey Jr. Rookie. You can also find Gary Sheffield and John Smoltz rookies as well.

The base cards from this product, since I already have a ton, will go to other collectors!

However this one that was in the second pack at the bottom will be staying in my collection
. This is why I made the purchase.

Gotta love throwback breaks with the wax packs. I liked this Bowman design and wished they would take a look back in time at the design and make a comeback with it in new products. However, the bigger sized card I didn't care for as much.

And no, don't worry, I didn't eat the gum.

Retro Break: 1994 Pacific Triple Folder Football

Recently went to my first flea market and found a bunch of deals. This only cost me $1a pack. I bought two packs because that's all they had. If they had more, you better bet I would have snatched them.

Each pack came with a oversized fold-out cards and with 1 bonus card as well.

Here are the outside of the cards

The cards opened up like a menu

Two bonus cards

I liked these because they brought back memories of when I first started getting deep into collecting. I at one point gave these a try when they first were released. Unique concept. Wished companies would do more innovative things like this now-a-days.

Nice Cardsmiths Break Mail Day

Got this bad boy in the mail the other day. I luckily caught the fact that Cardsmiths were breaking Gold Standard while I was gone on a trip, I always keep tabs on the blog, Twitter and Facebook when away, and didn't miss out on this break. I have never busted the product before. Usually can't afford it.

It was a random break meaning I could have ended up with any team. At first I was truly hoping to land the 49ers to try and get Kaepernick, but was glad when the Falcons were the team I ended up with especially getting such a nice rookie/auto/patch card of their top wide receiver!

It's this kind of mojo why I try to send you guy's their way!

Upper Deck NPN Mail Day Quad Soccer style!

Another nice card from Upper Deck's online NPN program. No Purchase Necessary programs are great and with Upper Deck's being so easy online this is the best one to enter. Not to mention, I have had some decent returns on it.
