Yard Sale Find # 4 Finest Baseball 1999 Series 2

We recently posted about a Yard Sale we went to and picked up a bunch of sports cards at (mostly baseball). We thought it would be fun to take you on the journey with us to discover what is inside of every box, every single we got picking out the best ones along the way to show. We hope you enjoy the trip and comments are always welcomed.

There were two series in 1999 Finest and150 cards in each series. Series 2 is the strong series of the two So finding the only the second one was exciting as we hoped for top rookies and maybe a few snuck in parallels.

Had to show Griffey Jr. by himself. This swing is like no other and no one will ever play the game like this guy did. Part of the reason I used to PC him in the 90's.Which by the way is where this card is going.

I Must also note the protective covering for the cards back then. I liked the concept cause it kept the cards from being surfaced scratched. It's part of the reason I never have peeled them off. Just imagine what some cards would sell for now-a-days if Topps still did this. Imagine a non-surface marked card (meaning no finger prints, no greasy marks, or scratches) that also didn't have anything to do with centering too (no borders) of a Superfractor of Yasiel Puig or Derek Jeter. Those would grade very high and be pretty much untouchable for most collectors to afford.

Yankee PC and star player adds
Finest Subset Cards. Overall there were 5 different subsets to collect.
Rookies from our find. Despite none of them being true rookies or someone mind blowing, I still have a place for them in the collection. However some notable rookies from this years Finest are Pat Burrell, C.C. Sabathia and Alfonso Soriano.

Overall, a weak break from the yard sale break so far. Just a bunch of base cards, no name rookies and a few star players. However, since I collect unique base cards and always a fan of 90's products, all of these will find a home in my collection.

Another Yard Sale Find # 5 coming up tomorrow! Plenty more to come as well all from this one yard sale break.

Yard Sale Find # 3: 1999 Bowman Baseball

We recently posted about a Yard Sale we went to and picked up a bunch of sports cards at (mostly baseball). We thought it would be fun to take you on the journey with us to discover what is inside of every box, every single we got picking out the best ones along the way to show. We hope you enjoy the trip and comments are always welcomed.

The box was labeled 1999 Bowman Baseball
Base card adds..Derek Jeter, Andy Pettite, Tony Gwynn among others.
HUGE stacks of rookies and prospect cards!
Parallels. Some of top rookies CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett
Great rookie card finds in 2 Sabathia's, Tim Hudson, Matt Holliday
More great rookie finds in Furcal, Soriano and Adam Dunn
Was yet impressed again of what we found in this box. There was maybe about 20 base cards and the remaining were rookies and parallels. Wished there had been a Josh Hamilton but we definitely scored well hitting all of the top rookies but his.

Three boxes down, many, many, many more to break into and view what's in there. We are saving the boxes with singles in them for last. Those three boxes may take a few posts for each to break down.

Prizm Returns To Basketball 2013-2014

Prizm has already been released for baseball (2 releases, second one coming up November 6th), Football (just released) and hockey. Now it's time to hit the court with Panini Prizm Basketball 2013-2014.

2013-14 Prizm Basketball Oladipo
Just like the previous releases, I am glad to see Panini add background color to the base cards instead of the plain silver. Adds a nice touch!

2013-14 Prizm Basketball Purple Die Cut Durant
The 2013-14 Prizm Basketball version is due out December 18 and will have everyone's favorites like base Prizm parallels and Gold Prizms numbered to 10. But also in this years basketball will be the Black Prizm 1/1s and the unveiling of the all-new Die-Cut Purple Prizms numbered to 49.

2013-14 Prizm Basketball Kobe Auto
Each 20-pack box of 2013-14 Prizm Basketball will yield two autographs and five Prizm parallels. The usual packing for a Prizm product.

2013-14 Prizm Basketball Blake Gold Auto

Once again and I have said it a million times, I am excited about yet another Prizm release. Are you as excited? Last year the basketball release was the most popular of the bunch and the Prizm parallels were scarce and very valuable. Hopefully this years version will be just as much as a hit.

Jose Abreu Autographed Cards Are Coming....

Next years hottest rookie sensation has his first autograph and base cards coming out soon. Abreu who is the most anticipated international arrival of 2014, will enter the majors next year with a following already. Abreu is expected to take over first base in Chicago, who needs his power hitting skills.

First up for Abreu cards, will be in Panini's soon to be released 2013 Prizm Perennial Draft Picks Baseball that releases November 6.

Panini America Jose Abreu Perennial (3) Panini America Jose Abreu Perennial (6)
It will be their second baseball Prizm release that is as stated a rookie laden product.

Topps on the other hand, will have their first autographs of the star slugger in their 2014 Bowman Baseball. He will also be found in a number of other 2014 Bowman and/or Topps products as well!

It will be interesting to see how much hype people are buying into the slugger early on when Panini's 2013 Prizm Perennial Draft Picks Baseball releases and how high the prices go for his first autographs. And you can imagine that even base cards and parallels will do well too with the high expectations.

As with most prospectors do, some will buy all they can early expecting a big return or some could end up getting burned if he does nothing. It's all apart of the hobby fun. You win some, you lose some.

A Sparkling Break Of A 2011 Topps Baseball Series 2 Blister Box

When stumbling upon a marked down 2011 Topps Baseball Series 2 Blister I sat down to this box really worth it? Or is there just going to be a huge stack of base cards and inserts that have no value. But at the same time it was 50% off. Hmmmmm the decisions you have to make in life. I finally decided to give one a go. There was two or three I believe. Glad I picked this one. A nice hit was hidden within.

Below is all 72 cards we pulled from our box. We hope you enjoy:

And the NICE HIT from the Blister..A Sparkle Variation said to be found 1 in every case.

Overall it was $5 well spent we would say. The parallel is pretty cool.

Let me know your thoughts on this break and if you have pulled or seen the Sparkle parallels.

Blister Pack Break Of Topps Football 2013

After seeing a break of this I really wanted some. Each Blister or what I call hanging box, comes with 72 cards that's a nice mix of rookies, vets, inserts and a jumbo relic card for $14.98 which I find as a better value than the Blaster Boxes that basically come packing the same thing except a manufactured jersey card. So I find saving $5 and getting at least a jersey piece the players wore a much better deal. Not to mention, the odds of pulling Sp's are in your favor as well.

Base Cards:

Rookies pulled:

Military Parallel

And the jumbo relic:

I don't know if this is what you call a "Jumbo" Relic or not but it's still pretty cool. To me, a Jumbo relic would be about half of the card. This is a little bigger than normal size swatches but I guess there is no word for medium size relics. I also like getting Wheaton since I believe he will be a future star with the Steelers as he showed his potential in the preseason.. Especially in an offense lacking.

Let us know your thoughts on this break and if you find busting one of these better than busting a blaster box.

Winners Of Our #SCCPaniniPODWildCard Photo Contest!

In a close race due to some excellent photos, Panini had a fun time voting for their favorites as it was hard for them to choose. We asked 5 Panini employees to vote for their favorites. Luke...I Am Your Father..Star Wars Pack Gambler Mail Day

I recently got a 5 Card Mail Day from The Pack Gambler. One of which I spoke about with my last mail day post from him. All of the cards are from his storefront that you can locate HERE. There are many items and spectacular cards to find there such as the ones I am about to show off.

In our final mail day from The Pack Gambler, we brought home another Topps Star Wars Film Relic. These have got to be some of the sweetest Topps cards and Star Wars cards ever produced. Actual Film from the original Star Wars film. This card in particular is extra sweet with the card being the battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Makes me wanna break out the VHS and watch it (yup don' t have it on DVD yet).

To me, this is a two-in-one collectible. You have the film relic then the card itself. And unlike the last one, this one is a dual film relic card. A more rarer version. If you missed our first one, you can find it HERE.

Let me know your thoughts on this SWEET mail day.

Panini Is Doing The Monster Box Mash

It's about time! That's my reaction to when Panini announced they will be doing a value box of their products for retail or what Panini is calling MONSTER BOX.

Panini America 2013 Prizm Football Monster Box
Product arriving just in time for Halloween, how fitting it's a MONSTER BOX, each box will include five packs of 2013 Score Football, two hobby packs of 2013 Prizm Football and three Prizm cards from the Monster Box-exclusive Cornerstones and Building Blocks inserts. Each box will be $19.99.

Panini America 2013 NFL Monster Box (15)    Panini America 2013 NFL Monster Box (1)

I am very excited about Panini finally doing this. I am a big fan of the Topps version that comes with 5 retail packs of Topps base product, 2 hobby packs of either Heritage or Platinum then some bonus cards. Now I finally get to try a Panini version. And that includes retail only found Prizm inserts.

The boxes also may include a randomly inserted instant-win Golden Tickets good for boxes of 2013 National Treasures Football. How awesome is that! I know that's the only way I can afford a box of that product.

Let us know your thoughts on the new Panini retail product and whether you will be running out to try any.

Panini Bringing The Beach Boys To Cardboard

Panini officials recently sat around thinking of a new product to release. They thought, "Wouldn't It Be Nice" if we could come up with something unique. So they did and recently announced that they will be adding the Beach Boys to their 2013 card lineup giving some collectors "Good Vibrations" about the product.

Panini America 2013 Beach Boys Al Jardine Concert Gear
Each box of 2013 The Beach Boys will deliver two Concert Gear memorabilia cards and a whole host of inserts that includes three Sounds of Summer, four Honors, three In Their Own Words, six Top 10 Hits, two On The Record, two Etchings, one die-cut Gold Albums and 24 specially stamped parallel cards.

Panini America 2013 Beach Boys Guitar Picks
The product also includes autographs from the founding members of The Beach Boys, including legendary songwriter Brian Wilson, numbered to 70 or less.

Panini America 2013 Beach Boys Brian Wilson Auto

The product is due to release on October 30th. Hopefully "I Get Around" to finding some and won't have to be "Surfin USA" to much to find them.

Alright, enough with the puns. "God Only Knows" you guys must be getting sick of them.

Let us know your thoughts on this product.

Blaster Box Break: Topps Chrome Garbage Pail Kids 2013

This product was talked about so much that I just had to give it a try. And the word chrome is always tempting.

A blaster box is $19.99. It comes with 7 packs plus one bonus pack that contains 4 X-Factors. Each pack also has 4 cards per pack.

This set is a mix of old and new with taking the classic set from 1985 and turning it Chrome.

The 2013 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Chrome Original Series 1 base set has 110 cards. The 41 original characters are redone in both their A and B versions for a total of 82 cards. Fourteen Lost GPK cards have unpublished characters that didn't make the original cut. There are A and B versions of these as well bringing you to the total of 110 cards.

Here are some of our favorite base cards from the box we pulled.

We knew a Pete like this ;)

And here are the refractor parallels from the box. We pulled three:
Keith Out..Hilarious!

And the four card X-factor pack had these:

Overall was a fun break. You can also find other refractor parallels along with randomly inserted autographs and printing plates.

Let us know your thoughts on Garbage Pail Kids and your thoughts on Topps Chroming them!

Hobby Jumbo Packs Coming To 2013 Prizm Football

Panini is always striving to improving their products and this years Prizm Football seems to be JUMBOfied!

Along with the release next Wednesday of the regular hobby counterpart, the 2013 Prizm Football Hobby Jumbos will release as well coming packed with three Jumbo-exclusive Prizm parallels, 15-card packs and 10 packs per box.

Every pack will include three Rookie Cards and at least one Jumbo-exclusive Light Blue Pulsar, Die-Cut Light Blue Pulsar (numbered to 15) or Purple Cracked Ice (numbered to 40) parallel. The average Jumbo box will yield four autographs, 10 Jumbo-exclusive Prizm parallels, 12 inserts and 30 RCs.

Panini America 2013 Prizm Football Hobby Jumbo (14)Panini America 2013 Prizm Football Hobby Jumbo (32)   Panini America 2013 Prizm Football Hobby Jumbo (44)

I think this is a great addition to the already popular product. I know I am looking forward to it. However, it could be pricey since the regular hobby boxes are averaging about $100 already. I would look for this one to hit about $150-$175.

Let us know your thoughts on the new addition to the Panini Prizm family.
