Blaster Break Of Topps Chrome Football 2013

If you like it than you better put some chrome on it...uh uh oh...uh uh uh uh oh...yep..that's what Beyonce truly meant.

Year in and year out, Topps Chrome is my favorite product. I love the chromieness it brings. The parallels are spectacular and the value that you get from a retail blaster box puts other retail blaster boxes to shame. Most of them probably hide in a corner away from it. If this tells you how badly I wanted to get my hands onto some, I went to Walmart on Thanksgiving night, for other deals as well, and stood in line for an hour and a half just to get to the card section then to the register.

Base Cards

One rookie per pack turned to more like two

These inserts are much more impressive in Chrome than they were in base Topps

Good refractors of top players

Pink refractor for my PC and Teo and Manuel X-Factors! Superb!

Jersey cards no matter the jersey color or design look so sweet chromed! Every box guarantees a jersey hit!

For $20, you get 29 cards including one hit. You will also get multiple parallels and possibly autographs. If this isn't the best deal out there for retail, please argue with us. We would love to hear it. Topps Chrome is one of the hottest and most valuable products produced every year and this year proves no different.

Let us know your thoughts on this break and of course any thoughts on Topps Chrome.

Nice Mail Day From The Pack Gambler

Last week I saw a yellow envelope in my mail box and was completely surprised. I wasn't expecting any packages. I took it out and it was festively decorated with Christmas stickers and then I noticed that it came from The Pack Gambler.

I ran home as fast as possible to rip open this unexpected package and below is what was found:

A variety of baseball cards

2 unopened packs of 1991 Action Packed. He must have known my love for 1990's products and football. I was hoping to pull a Favre is what was found inside:

My first cut signature..had always wanted one of these!

And a new Griffey Jr for the PC

I was quite stoked with this package and immediately thanked The Pack Gambler for the early Christmas present. If you guys are not following him on Twitter or Facebook, you are missing out. He is one of the great guys in the hobby who cares about it and other collectors and I have been saying that long before this package showed up. This is just another example of it.

Another big thanks goes out to The Pack Gambler for this mail day and as always, comments are welcomed!

Review: 2013 Topps WWE Best Of Wrestling

Box Break Down:
  • 24 Packs Per Box, 7 Cards Per Pack
  • One Relic card per box
  • Under $50 a box
  • Each Box contains Twelve Hobby Exclusive Bronze Parallels and One Silver Parallel
and Every Pack contains Three Inserts!

BASE CARDS: There are 110 Base Cards showing the hottest stories broken down into several topics. I actually quite enjoy the design here with the action photography. Usually not something I say for a Topps product with a border. Borders on cards have always bothered me. I much prefer a clean and open card with photography. But what I like about the border that it gives the time and date of each story.

INSERTS: In a box are inserts galore!! At first glance, you can't tell the difference between the inserts and the base cards. So you are thinking, man, got a ton of base cards. But upon further inspection you realize you are getting a ton of inserts.

The parallels are easy to define once you see them. And the Top Ten inserts, which by the way range from many topics voted on by fans, are a fun collection. In terms of design, they are a little bland. But the collectibility of them is the key factor. The ones with higher number are the easiest to find in boxes. Top Ten #1 fall about one (we got two) per box. It will be interesting to see how value goes on these especially the rarer ones and if people are willing to attempt to put a set together which could be a fun task.

Here are the inserts broken down in the product:
 Bronze Parallel (1:2)
- Silver Parallel (1:24)
- Gold Parallel (10 per subject)

- Top Ten # 1's (1:24)
- Top Ten # 2's (1:12)
- Top Ten # 3's (1:6)
- Top Ten # 4's & 5's (1:4)
- Top Ten # 6's & 7's (1:3)
- Top Ten # 8's - 10's (1:2)

- Printing Plates (880 Total)

AUTOGRAPHS: The autographs are supposed to be 1 in every two boxes, but I have a feeling you are going to find one per box. Ours was of Big E Langston. The product also offers Dual Autographs of some of WWE's biggest stars!

As for design, Topps stuck with the basics here.

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS: I like the swatches and the multiple colors they could use from WWE. However, gotta admit I was a little curious where this swatch was from looking at Brodus' way of wearing his shirt :$

Here are other offerings for this product for relics:
-Swatch Relics (1 per box)
- Mat Relics (1:48 packs)

OVERALL THOUGHTS: There is a good bang for your buck here with most boxes coming with 2 hits and a ton of cards and inserts. The problem I have with it was a really boring break. I kept running through each pack just to look for the hits as each card seemed the same. Usually I am a fan of base cards, but something was lacking here. I think some nice silver or gold foil-board parallels would really help this product and an addition of more inserts that don't look like the base cards. I do like how the Top Ten inserts were done and I would love to see more companies do that again. But overall, good value, but needs improvement.

SWEEEEET Upper Deck NPN Mail Day

I don't know about you, but I love seeing an yellow envelope from Upper Deck in the mail. Usually means an NPN mail day. And this may be one of the best ones I have received yet.

I was in shock after opening the envelope and find this:

Wow! My first Glennon auto! His rookies are on fire right now in Beckett and he has been surprisingly one of the better rookies this season in a down season for rookies. This could be a really nice card down the road. I also like the fact it's in Sp 1995 throwback form design.

As always your comments are welcome and let us know your best NPN pull!

Mail Day From Deltha O'Neal

One big difference between Twitter and Facebook is the interaction opportunities that Twitter offers you. Yes, Facebook offers you interaction with your friends and family from near and far but what about those beyond that? Not a usual thing.

So on Twitter I follow athletes here and there. Most of the time ones that I am watching careers of, are on my team, or watched careers of at one time. But not once had they ever responded to my tweets and I figured that most of the accounts were fun by fans and not the actual athlete. That's until someone pointed out to me that the blue check-mark next to their name meant the account was legitimately them. So I began to follow a few more athletes and one that kept popping up was Deltha O'Neal. A player that I not only used to trade for in Madden, but a player I enjoyed watching. So I gave him a follow.

The first thing you learn right off about Deltha, is his love of the game. He also loves his fans and family. He tweets about those topics quite often. And will respond to fans who tweet back. And he also hosts contests for his former teams that he played on which is where I landed this beauty of a mail day from. In that particular contest you had to pick the winner and scores of each half of the Ravens/Bengals game. I was only a few points off so I turned out to be the winner. Was amazing to not only be followed by my first NFL player, but to get a package in the mail with their name on it. Was a cool experience. He not only gives away photos, I have seen others win footballs and game worn gloves. Incredible. If you have Twitter and have not followed him yet, do so. Especially if you are a big NFL fan.

A big thanks goes out to Deltha on this mail day and for the time he takes out for fans. For those of you who don't know who Deltha O'Neal is, he was a former NFL DB who played for the Broncos, Bengals, Patriots, and Texans (briefly). He had 386 tackles, 34 interceptions in his NFL career and was a two-time Pro Bowler with blaring speed and incredible ball skills.

As always, comments are welcomed!

NY Giants @San Diego

Here is our Twelfth entry into the NY Giants/Panini America Promo Contest!

All you have to do to enter is comment with the Total Points for this game without going over. Remember that cards only get added to the pot if the Giants win this game. However, you can still "win" for the week either way. The person with the most "wins" at the end of the year wins the pot.

The Week 11 of our contest victory goes to Zac Smith who guessed the score of 39 when the total of the Giants/Redskins Game was 41.

A great win by the Giants and another card is added bringing our total to 7 rookie/insert cards. Giants have to win out from here on to even have a slight chance. With games against, SD, Seattle, Detroit, and Washington..things are not looking up.

NOTE: We are shortening it up. Contest ends now after Dec 22nd matchup against Detroit. Lack of entries and interest in this contest and most likely non-playoffs for the Giants is the reasoning. But because we are doing this we will be throwing in 2 extra cards to the pot! We hope that helps! Also, if by miracle, the Gmen do make it to the playoffs..we will do another contest!

Here are the updated standings:

Zac Smith                               3 WIN
JJ HERNANDEZ                   2 WIN
Mrblu1976                             1 WIN
Thomas Young                        1 WIN
@rjdub81                               1 WIN
Scott N.                                 1 WIN
Dennis                                    1 WIN
aa8a5804-8a87-11e2-ad83-000bcdcb8a73 1 WIN
JAMIE B                                1 WIN
Whitley Gilbert                        1 WIN

Upper Deck Spx auto/jersey Hakeem Nicks eBay Mail Day

As a bargain hunter, I am always searching for deals and when I stumbled upon this Hakeem Nicks (literally stumbled upon it when looking up Eli Manning cards and have no clue why he was listed that way) and found this at a bargain. Being not only a Giants fan, but Nicks fan as well, I had to add it.

It's my first rookie auto of his and now will fit perfectly into my collection and will be something I will hold onto whether the Giants decide to hold onto Nicks after the season or not. Which by the way, in my opinion, they should. He may be having a down season, but this guy has big hands and is a HUGE play maker.

This card is also another example of why Upper Deck needs an NFL license again. I really miss Spx being an NFL product. I am not a huge fan of NCAA football or the cards. Hopefully someday they will get a shot at one. I would be happy seeing three NFL licenses again.

We recently broke 3 packs of 2013 Topps Chipz baseball a new and unique game offering from Topps. And these are not just cardboard chips. They are printed on thick and heavy plastic. And can come autographed or relics.

In every pack of Chipz they include:

There are 100 top MLB Veterans and Rookies in the base CHIPZ set.

The Cano and Red Sox are the magnet parallels. 1:4 packs

It is a unique offering that Topps offers in Chipz. You get the game concept. The collect-ability concept with tough memorabilia and autographed versions. Then you take the fact that this is something for both young and old. I like it and might be something I play. And maybe even collect. Sort of like Pogs.
