MONTHLY CONTEST RULES AND INFO

I hope all of you enjoyed playing in April's Contest and congrats again to our winners. For the month of May til the October there will be some changes made to the monthly contests. For one, there was a ton of inconsistency on the amount of people that would enter per day. Some days there would be 12 other days there would be 20. There were also some who entered one day and never came back again. I like contests with lots of competition. So to fix this problem I have found a new simpler way to play the monthly contest game.

Before I tell you how to play, I first want to say thanks to Jammin JDcards and BCW Supplies for providing prizes for the monthly contests Without them, there would be no contests.

Now onto how to play:
  • There will be one game a week to pick the winner, total score, and another stat of from that game.
  • The games will consist of many sports including MLB, NBA, NFL, NASCAR, WNBA, and so on. You just will never know
  • Each game that is chosen will be a Sunday Night game. You will have one week to get your ONE entry in. Do not be late on your entry or it will not count!
  • All entries will be hidden for the fun of the game and the challenge. But will be revealed the following day when a winner is announced.
  • There will be ONE WINNER per week for THREE WEEKS. The winners will be thrown into a WINNERS POT and will be randomed for the prize of their choice starting with the person whose name is at the top of the list
  • Once you have won for the month, you CANNOT win again that same month. We are looking for more winners here.
  • BIG NEWS: Everyone who won from April-September, including the Top 3 in April, will be battling it out for a GRAND PRIZE from BCW Supplies in October along with some break spots from Jammin JDcards as well. If there are same winners from different months, meaning if Sport Card Collectors won in May and August, they will only get in for one of the months and then we will take names of those who entered the monthly contests on a consistent basis and random the names and fill in those spots of same winners. So make sure you always enter!
  • There should be 18 winners entering for the October Contest. However, if there is good turnout on a weekly basis, I may, actually I will, random off a two more Wild Card spots into the challenge for the Grand Prize contest for those who enter regularly. Making 20 possible spots open for the Grand Prize month. Three spots have already been claimed from April.
There are only two rules:
  • This contest is open to U.S. Residents ONLY....Sorry!
  • HAVE FUN and win great prizes!
Now onto the winnings. I usually I have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize. But not this time. I think all of these prizes are pretty equal and will allow the winner to choose which prize they want. After that, the second place winner picks their prize and the third place winner gets the remaining prize. The prize places will be decided by the monthly randoming. Then prizes can be chosen.

The prizes for the MONTHLY CONTESTS are as follows:
  • BCW Supplies:
    May, variety of toploaders
    June, box magnetics
    July,  variety of toploaders
Aug., box of 9pocket pages and an album
    Sept. variety of toploaders
    Oct., Grand Prize TBD
  • Monthly: A spot into a Basketball break from Jammin JDcards (TBD by Jammin JDcards)
  • Monthly: A spot into a Football break from Jammin JDcards (TBD by Jammin JDcards)
If you have any questions on the Monthly Contest, feel free to ask those below.

Retail Break Em: Fairfield Company Baseball Box

I have seen many people breaking these all across the internet. Blogs, sites, Twitter, etc. I have seen the good and the bad that can come from these. But, I look at something that offers me 20 packs, 1 guaranteed hit for $20 and I can't turn away from that. Who Can? So I broke one of the football ones and one of the baseball ones so tame my curiosity.

This specific post is about the baseball box, I will show the football results next week. How did this one go, well, you will have to see for yourself as you check out the gallery!

These were the packs within. Was pleasantly surprised to find a hobby pack of Topps Heritage:

This was the guaranteed "hit" of the box:

And these were the best cards I got from the packs:

Overall, not bad for what I paid for. If I was to go back and buy another one, this is the one I would buy. I feel like the baseball has more variety and a lot more to offer in value unlike the football one but I will leave that judgement up to you when you see the football break. The pleasant surprise of a hobby pack goes a long ways as well. The hit I got in this box was much better than the football one I got as well. That is not saying much. But I have seen some boxes that have come with much better hits which is what tempted me to breaking these in the first place.

Let me know your thoughts and if you tried breaking one of these and how you did.

Winners Of April's Contest!

Well, that was an interesting turn of events on the final day as I had hoped. For most of the contest the competition was close and I knew on the very last day it would be the same. But, there was one leader throughout the contest and that leader stayed on top even on the final day holding on by one point.

So now onto the winners.

In first place is Scott N.
Second place goes to Miami Vice
Third place goes to Gubu Z

Congrats to all of our winners! Under this post, starting with Scott N, please tell me which of the prizes you would like. Then followed by Miami Vice then Gubu Z gets the remaining prize.

Here are the list of prizes for April again:
  • A box of 9pocket pages and an album from BCW Supplies
  • A spot into a Basketball break from Jammin JDcards (TBD by Jammin JDcards)
  • A spot into a Football break from Jammin JDcards (TBD by Jammin JDcards)
Once your prize is chosen, please contact me at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com with your information and I will pass it along to the right party or forward you onto them.

Please also take a minute to say thank you to our Monthly contest sponsors Jammin JDcards and BCW Supplies. You can also find them both on Twitter and on Facebook and give them a follow or like for the hobby.

Thanks to everyone who participated in April. May's contest will be much differently set up than this one. That information will be announced at the end of this month. In the meantime, we have a pretty nice contest coming up with The Pack Gambler either the end of this week or next.

What's In The Mailbox?

When going to the post office and knowing you have cards coming, opening up your mail box is like opening a Christmas present. And that's the way I felt today when I opened mine and found a package from TCSP.

First off you may be wondering, who is TCSP? Well , they are a newer card company started back in 2008 but growing yearly. They are a smaller company that keeps their cards limited as they do not produce many or have many of their cards unnumbered. They don't have any pro licenses but do a great job with what they have and also have some unique offerings in their products as well and some you won't find elsewhere. Such as in an upcoming product they will be including an Eminem autographed card. Nobody else has those. Should be interesting to see how they do on the market.

Now onto today's mail day. I won these cards in a Twitter contest and had no idea what they were sending me. I was quite impressed when I opened up the envelope and it may possibly tempt me to try some of their products in the future.

The cards below are all numbered to 100. They are 2014 TCSP Precious Metals Preview Rookies and I really like them. The design is nice, the cards are thick and with them being serial numbered it helps keep the value on them. Not to mention I got the top players in the 2014 draft.

Thanks again to TCSP for the prize package and if you are not following them yet on Twitter, please do so. They do contests all of the time and preview their upcoming products.

CAPTION THIS!

"I am throwing 95 right here!"
Product:Bowman 1999
Card #248

Let's hear your CAPTION THIS for this card! (keep it clean, no language too!)

90's Rip Party: Spx Football 1997 Hobby Box Part 2: THE INSERTS!

Yesterday, I broke a box of  1997 Upper Deck Spx Football and showed off the base cards from the product. Today, I move onto the sweet inserts.

Now most inserts in the product were tough pulls except the gold parallels that fell every 1:9 packs. On a normal box basis it's more than likely you would just get the four of those. However, in this box break I lucked out and pulled something a little tougher. I did manage to only land three golds, but the last pull from the box was well worth it.

Now onto the hits!

One of my favorite QB's of all-time was Kerry Collins. I was glad to have had him on the Giants at one point.

This was a great find. Dan Marino gold is the best gold parallels you could get from the product:

And then came the BOOM! Jerry Rice HoloFame 1:75 packs. I was screaming like a little girl when I found this.
You combine all of the star power from the base cards, the gold Dan Marino and than the big pull of the Rice and you my friends have yourself a great box break. I couldn't have asked for more from a break and don't think I have been this satisfied with any box I have opened in a long time.

Let me know what you think of my entire break and how excited you were when you beat the odds on getting a big insert pull from the 90's.

APRIL 20TH 2014-FINAL DAY

FINAL DAY! WHO WILL WIN?!

First off, check the standings located HERE to see if you are eliminated or not. You are only eliminated if you have 0 points or didn't enter one of the final three days (read below for more on this)

YOU MUST ALSO ENTER THE LAST THREE DAYS OF THIS CONTEST TO EARN PRIZES. If you started this contest lets say at the beginning of the month and haven't entered since and don't enter these three days, your points will not count at the end if you are the highest score. YOU MUST ENTER ALL THREE DAYS FINAL DAYS OR YOU ARE OUT.

Make sure to read what I am asking you to do as well. It may not always be a pick a winner. The final two days for sure will not be that.

Remember that this contest is only OPEN TO U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY and that you cannot be a minute late on the entry or it will NOT count. Good luck and have fun! Points will be updated daily!

Pick the winner of this MLB game (put points on that) and the total Strikeouts for Jake Peavy without going over, 0 is not an answer(bid  points on that). If you get the right on strikeout total, your points bid on the strikeouts will double. Failure to complete one of these steps will result in you losing 5 points.

Entries should look like this:
Boston
3
4 and 1pts (or you could actually put a bid)

Baltimore at Boston
ENTRIES ARE DUE BY 7:00 PM E.T.

NOTE: ALL ENTRIES WILL BE HIDDEN TODAY AND WILL BE PUBLISHED TOMORROW FOR THE CHALLENGE OF THE GAME. IN CASE OF ANY TIEBREAKERS, WE WILL GO ON TO A DAY 21. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW OTHERWISE! THANKS FOR PLAYING AND GOOD LUCK!

NPN Of The Week

With the lack of me buying a lot of newer products, I haven't had many NPN addresses to share in weeks. So in return this Sunday, I wanted to show off an NPN I just got in from Upper Deck. By far, they are the easiest NPN of them all. Just go online to their website that you can locate HERE.

Let me know your thoughts on this NPN mail day from Upper Deck and what the best one you have ever received from them.
