Close Your Mouth, The Drool May Destroy Your Keyboard When You See This!

Wow! OH MY! INCREDIBLE! Comes to mind when I see my latest pickup from Jammin JD Sports Cards.

Yes I know it's an Eagle and yes I know I am a Giants fan, but when I saw this on their site, I had to have it. There is not confusion on who I root on still.

This is why I NEEDED this card. First off, I don't have any of these "shadowbox" cards or anything from Strata. Secondly, look at it, that patch just is a beautiful thing. I don't care who is on the card. Thirdly, it's an autographed rookie card, you just never know when a rookie will get their chance. Finally, I got a great deal on it from Jammin JD Sports Cards.

Would love to hear your guys thoughts on this new pickup and if you have ever tried shopping at Jammin JD Sports Cards. Because if you haven't, you are missing out!

What's In The Mail Box?

Once again I was a lucky recipient of a contest mail day from @APetrelac on Twitter in his game of "guess the...." contest. This time it was from the Baltimore Ravens/Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday Night game. Yes, I know. I am a little late on this shout out.

But here is what arrived. More NY Rangers for that PC that is slowly growing. These are all NEW additions.

And this one I was totally stoked about! I have been wanting a Krieder Prizm rookie. I got a box of Prizm awhile back but he wasn't found in it. Now I have it!
A big thanks goes out to @APetrelac again. I really appreciate the mail day and new PC additions.

If you have Twitter and are not following him. Please do so. He does contests and discusses the hobby.

Upper Deck NPN Mail Day: 2013-2014 Sp Game Used Hockey

There is nothing better than getting a unexpected mail day and when that mail day is an Upper Deck NPN (no purchase necessary) mail day, you know it's going to be good. This particular one is from the 2013-2014 SP Game Used Hockey

It's a low numbered rookie card, works for me! Doesn't have to always be flashy.

Have you ever received an Upper Deck NPN mail day? What's the best card you have gotten?

Review: BCW Vinyl Double-Sided 9 Pocket Pages

Up until recently, I didn't know that BCW makes vinyl double sided 9-card pocket pages. This means that each sheet holds 18 cards!! This also means those of us who store a lot in binders and want to save space may want to give these a look.

The pages first of all come in a few different colors such as green, red, blue, black and white. I gave examples of the green and red ones. THEY ARE BOLDLY COLORFUL!

This pic shows both sides of the page. For those of you who worry that the cards are touching each other being opposite sided, BCW actually has a backing for both sides.

Red pages...very bold!
I find this product very handy. I think the only people who wouldn't like these are ones who like to look at the back of the cards in the slots. Obviously when you have cards back to back you can't see the back of the card. Other than that, I didn't find any major issues. The only issue I had was the backside of the pages in the middle were a bit tight to fit cards into, but other than that, they are perfect. I know I might go back for more as it may help me save some space in an already overcrowded card room.

I am also going to save you some time as well. Follow this LINK to check out these pages and more of what BCW Supplies carries.

Pros And Cons Of Panini Rewards

Panini Rewards...the future of the no redemption card world.

As with most new things in the hobby, there are some ups and downs, the Panini Rewards program fits that bill. In one of my recent box reviews I pulled my first ever Panini Rewards got and got excited. First off, you don't have to wait for a certain player to sign your card. Secondly, you get to pick what you like! Sounded like a good deal to me!

I didn't get one of the higher end points and yes I could have saved the 150 and combined it with future points, but I wanted to check out this new rewards program to see how it was.

I went to the Panini Rewards SITE to sign up for an account and get my points traded in.

The site ran very smooth as I was able to get my account set up and points ready within minutes. There was the first positive.

However, there wasn't many choices for 150 points and especially when I narrowed the search to just NY Giants who had only seven cards available overall. I know this is the first run with the program so they probably don't have a lot of inventory yet, but they need to get more stocked soon. First negative.

I ended up choosing this card which I found pretty impressive. Second Positive.

If I hadn't gotten the points in the box who knows what I would have gotten especially having been a lower point total. It would have been more than likely a no name rookie auto. Third positive.

However upon requesting the card to be shipped, I found out there was a shipping fee. Second Negative.

Not only was there a shipping fee, but an outrageous one at that. I roughly estimated this card valued at $8-$10 so when I found out my shipping cost was a little over $4...I was a bit furious. That's almost half of what the card is worth. Not to mention I most likely could have gotten this card off from eBay cheaper. Third Negative.

I ended up paying the shipping and had it shipped to me. It arrived in about 5 days.

So, overall, I have three ups and three downs.

The biggest positive to me was not pulling a redemption card and being able to pick a card that I wanted right there and have it be something I collected. Because honestly, most of the time I never pull something I collect. That's for everyone else to do.

The Biggest negative, no surprise here, the shipping costs. Paying over $4 for shipping is nuts. You have already paid $80 for the box, why should you have to pay to have a card shipped to you that should have already been in the box in the first place?! I guess that is one thing redemptions had going for them, Panini didn't charge you to redeem them and ship them to you. Why should this be any different?

Break And Review Of Collector Crate Football Gold Level Box

It didn't take long for word to spread on the hobby's next big thing and it didn't take me long to look into it. This new and brilliant idea is called CollectorCrate. CollectorCrate is a subscription service offering a surprise mystery box of sports cards delivered to your door every month. There are currently three levels and three sports (NFL,MLB, NBA) to buy from and here they are:

Bronze: $29.99
GUARANTEED TO INCLUDE:
10 Random Packs (Low-Mid End)
1 Random Game Used Card
1 Random Autographed Card
Bonus Items

Silver: $69.99
10 Random Packs (Mid End)
2 Random Game Used Cards
2 Random Autographed Cards
Bonus Items
Gold: $99.99
10 Random Packs (Mid-High End)
3 Random Game Used Cards
3 Random Autographed Cards
Bonus Items

I think this is a really neat concept so I really wanted to see what the next big thing is all about.

So today, I am breaking a Silver level football CollectorCrate. Tomorrow I will be doing a Gold. I will admit right off that it was really fun to open to see what was inside.

Gold sticker found on the side marking it as a gold level

When you open the box...

The card packs. These are just as important and as much fun as the bubble wrap. Man, do I love that stuff!

Besides the card packs and hits you get in a box, you also get some bonus items.

The hobby packs at the Gold Level still with great products and great variety of years. Some of these are much more on the higher end compared to the silver level. This one even includes a pack of Totally Certified that has a guaranteed hit inside. These packs alone run around $12.

Here are the envelopes with the random hits inside. Since this is a gold level, there is three autos, three jersey cards.

Here are the hits from inside of those envelopes. The one thing that caught my attention right off was the players. They were stepped up a little from the silver level which is what you would expect with players like Mike Vick, Randy Moss and Champ Bailey.

The Autographs from their envelope. Hillman and Crick autos.

And what I considered the biggie of the autos, Kniles Davis. This guy has looked impressive this season. I also really like the card as well.

Now onto the pack hits! This to me means, inserts, rookies and actual hits.

Tyler Wilson Phenoms Gold parallel numbered to 25.

Pack pulled hits!!

SICK PATCH HIT!

As you would expect, CollectorCrate stepped up the game with the next level. They added an extra autograph and jersey card with better players, higher end hobby packs, and a McFarlane Playmakers instead of Small Pro. I still think these CollectorCrates are worth the chance. But, if I were you and you are just feeling these out, try the bronze level first. You can't go wrong with $29.99 on that one. Then work your way up from there if you like what you see, which I am pretty sure you will and expect you to be getting one of these golds as well. I think CollectorCrates can only get bigger and better.

In conclusion, I recommend trying out CollectorCrate. You can check out their website and more about them right HERE . You can also find them on TWITTER and on FACEBOOK where they are giving away a CollectorCrate a month! A big thanks goes out to them for allowing me to review their tremendous idea and I look forward to maybe doing more with them in the future!

********** HEADS UP**********
It seems as if Collector Crate no longer exists. Please hesitate at this moment from ordering from them even though their site seems live. They are not responding to customers via email, Twitter, Facebook and by phone. I will keep this post up so you can see what they were once about. If any further details come to light, I will update this post again with new information. As always, I try to keep you informed on what is going on in the hobby.

Hobby Break 'Em: 2014 Marvel Guardians Of The Galaxy

Sometimes it's just fun to break something that has nothing to do with sports. Something that's just a pleasure break for fun. So what you do is plug in summers biggest movie and combine that with Upper Deck and you have one great combo.

2014 Upper Deck Guardians Of The Galaxy hobby boxes come with 10 packs with 8 cards per pack. There is also a oversized card in a pack as well. Each box comes with 2 memorabilia cards and one autograph, autograph memorabilia or sketch card. The boxes have since gone up in price since their original release and now will run you around $105.

Now onto the break!

Base Cards:

Subsets:

Bronze parallel. You find these one per pack! But look out for much rarer purple ones.

Other inserts:

The oversized pack and card. Every 12th one of these is a jumbo sketch card

Dual memorabilia cards of the tops stars of the movie. I was pretty excited.

And the final pull for me was a 1/1 sketch card. I was really hoping autograph, but I would imagine most of the time this is what you would get.
Overall, a pretty fun break. Especially if you are a fan of the movie or of Marvel. Upper Deck's amazing photography shines again for the base cards as it shows key scenes from the movie in bright bold photographs. The memorabilia cards are pretty cool as well and I think the autographs becuase of their rarity would be very valuable pulls if you are lucky enough to find one.

I guess the only downside here is the price is a little steep but that is expected with such a popular movie. I would recommend waiting for the price to drop, but this is definitely a fun bust if you are a fan.
