Breakin Wax:2015 Topps Football Blaster Box

In what is the final edition of Topps football with an NFL license, I had high expectations for the product to go out with a bang. Of course I didn't want to buy a hobby box with that only having one hit just like a blaster, so I gave the blaster box a try. And I will say right off that I wasn't at all impressed.

In every blaster box of 2015 Topps football, there are 10 packs with 8 cards per pack. You also get one exclusive Super Bowl commemorative coin per box.

Unlike the 2015 baseball, Topps attempt to change things up for football didn't go well with the base card design. I think it might have been better as the baseball design or if they had left the border on the sides and on top off from it. The bottom isn't bad at all but the rest of it makes the card appear too crowded.

There are a few subsets in the base set as well, just look at the pic.

Rookie cards. My blaster box was very weak.

Best of the group.

Now onto the inserts, ugh, what happened to the days where inserts didn't look like base cards? Where are the shiny ones? Where are the Finest? Where is the effort? This years Yard Clubs are inserts or at least the numbering made me believe that.

The gold parallels even look bad in this design. And even those are not done like they used to be.

Bleh. All of the inserts look the same.

By far the best looking inserts of them all. Flashback designs commemorating 60 years. I got Winston, the second best card from my blaster.

And onto the best part of my blaster and of this years Topps football, the commemorative coin. These are made with metal, weigh a good amount and come in parallels too. It's a great looking card as well. I really need to chase down the Giants ones.

Overall, I am sorry about my harsh words on Topps football. I had high expectations after opening up many baseball packs this year. As for this product goes, this will be my only break of it. The coins are cool so I may try to chase down a few more. A set would be super sweet but with some of these selling for $25 or more it may be a bit of a costly chase.

Now that you have heard my hurtful thoughts about this product, what are your thoughts on 2015 Topps football?

Breakin Wax:2015 Panini Black Friday 3-Pack Break

For the first time ever, I actually had the chance to open some Panini Black Friday packs, a hobby dream of mine. Yes, I dream small.

So with a purchase (which I will show the results of at a later date), I managed to land three packs. Yes, it was sadly only three packs, but three is better than zero. You can only fit so much into your budget.

In every pack of 2015 Panini Black Friday packs are two cards and one "filler" card. You can land these through different online sites, eBay or by visiting your LCS on Black Friday if they are participating.

Pack 1: Not bad, Beastmode and Anthony Towns.

Pack 2: Not too shabby either. Tom Brady and Bears first rounder Kevin White.

And the final pack had some boom. Nolan Arenado and then Devante Parker cracked ice Breast Cancer Awareness towel prime swatch. This card has a place in my collection. My Mother In Law went through chemo and radiation this year for it so it's a great card to have to celebrate her braveness and the card looks sweet.

Here is the hit up close. Really nice looking card done by Panini here. I like the uniqueness of the towel swatch too.
Overall, can't complain with this three pack break. Some big name players and a nice hit. I am not sure what the numbering is on these as Panini doesn't like to release that info but I would assume /25 or less.

Now I gotta ask, how many of you busted some Black Friday packs? If you didn't, what are your thoughts on my break?

Odell Beckham Autograph....AGAIN??!!?!? SAY WHAT?!

That's right, three days in a row I am posting about an Odell Beckham autograph. I went from zero to three in three days. Today's is brought to you by a Panini Redemption replacement.

Earlier this summer I pulled a 2014-2015 Panini Preferred Silhouette autograph of Kyrie Irving /35 and I was super stoked. But, knowing it was a redemption, I gave it the four month wait. As cool as I thought it would be to have an Irving autograph, I looked at his potential first. One, he gets injured often. Two he plays behind LeBron's spotlight. Three, he plays for Cleveland. I knew even though it would have been a cool card that I needed to get it replaced with something that would mean more to me. Luckily Panini's awesome customer service helped me out and I scored this beauty! My first true rookie autograph and my first auto/patch of Odell.

This was well worth the exchange to me. My team, great player and nice looking card. I am pretty happy overall with no complaints.

Thanks goes out to Panini Customer Service for the quick exchange rate on this and for letting me choose my team.

Welcome Home Hakeem Nicks!

As you can tell, I am very excited about Hakeem Nicks recent re-signing with the Giants on their bye week. It was a much needed signing after Victor Cruz was ruled out for the season.

Can't wait to see him on the field today and hopefully catching some passes to help keep the Giants in first place.

ODELL What A Mail Day Part 2

If you missed it yesterday, I posted Part one of a two-part Odell Beckham autographed card early Christmas gift mail day from my wife.

Today is card number two. This one is a beaut! On-card, well designed and no 00 jersey. Hence, I would give it 5-Stars. Yes, really bad pun too.

I must have told my wife thank you a million times for these pickups. It feels tremendous to have a top want list card knocked off, especially when you get two of them. There is no way this gift gets topped, I can guarantee it.

Before I say, you're always welcomed to leave a comment on my mail day, I just wanted to say.Merry Christmas Eve! Hope everyone has a safe one.

Now if you want to, you can leave a comment on my mail day or let me know what the greatest Christmas gift you have ever received.
