REVIEW:Cryptozoic The Flash Season 1 And GIVEAWAY!

Can you imagine being struck by lightning by a freak storm, being put in a coma for 9 months only to wake up as the fastest person alive? Well, that's what happened to Barry Allen. And now he is Central City's savior from evil doers around!

I am lucky to be able to call myself one of the early breakers of this product as it doesn't release til 10/12. I wasn't technically the first as GoGTSLive beat me to it but I must be the second. So this will give you some early time to decide on how many boxes you want to bust :)

So let's see how fast I can break this box for you to see. Probably not that fast as Barry as he finished before the product released.

Every box of Cryptozoic's The Flash Season 1 comes with 24 packs and 5 cards per pack. You should get one on-card autograph and one wardrobe card per box. Boxes are will run about $75.

Base cards are high gloss, top notch designed and capture key episode moments from Season 1. I really like the starter to the set (bottom card).

There are 72 cards in the base set in which a box should provide you a set.

These are rainbow foil parallels I pulled. I don't see any details on odds on these but with 8 pulled, I assume 1:3. I really like these a lot and would make for a fun set chase. It adds a bit more flash to Flash.

Another parallel I found in my box but without info on is the "Flash Symbol" parallel. These are printed with gold foil so not sure if other foils are out to be found or not. But, it's a nice surprise by Cryptozoic who have been known to throw in a few here and there.

I assume these are 1:12 since I pulled 2.

Locations fall 1:3 packs. Capturing the different locations in the show.

Rogues fall 1:3 packs. The bad guys. I assume this is a 9 card set that I completed. I am sure as the product gets closer more info will be released and I will update this.

Character Bios fall 1:4 packs. These look really cool especially in the foil version I pulled. Great design on these.
Time for the hits!

Here is my wardrobe pull, great look to the card.

And my on-card autograph pull was of the one and only Danielle Panabaker.

Other signers in this product are....
Liam McIntyre as Mark Mardon / Weather Wizard
Amanda Pays as Dr. Tina McGee
Doug Jones as Jake Simmons / Deathbolt
Andy Mientus as Hartley Rathaway / Pied Piper
Malese Jow as Linda Park
Logan Williams as Young Barry
William Sadler as Simon
Anthony Carrigan as Kyle Nimbus
Michael Reventar as Farooq Gibran
Chad Rook as Clyde Mardon / Weather Wizard
Emily Kinney as Brie Larvan / Bug-Eyed Bandit
Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart
David Sobolov as Gorilla Grodd
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Devon Graye as Axel Walker / The Trickster
Kelly Frye as Bette Sans Souci / Plastique
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow
Peyton List as Lisa Snart / Golden Glider
Greg Finley as Tony Woodward / Girder
Paul Anthony as Roy G. Bivolo / Rainbow Raider
Patrick Sabongui as Captain David Singh
Robert Knepper as William Tockman / Clock King
Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein
Jesse L. Martin as Joe West
Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells / Reverse Flash

Other pulls not found in my box are Dual Wardrobe cards that fall 1:96 packs and Printing Plate cards that fall 1:208 packs. There may be other prop cards to find as well.

Oh and if you decide to buy the collectors binder to put your cards in, that comes with an exclusive prop card from the show shown here:

Overall, a pretty solid break in my opinion especially with the Panabaker pull. With a base set, some insert sets, parallels, some surprises and 2 hits it seems well worth the price if you like the show and if you compare it to some sports products that offer less for this price.

The product also has a very solid autograph checklist and some nice swatches in the wardrobe cards.

  2. I am very pumped for this set. LOVE the show, finished season 2 and the S3 premiere a couple days ago. Thank you SCC and Cryptozoic for the product.
I love what I've seen of the set. Great base cards, variants, and insert sets. Love the wardrobes and the signer list. Disappointed that Grant Gustin didn't sign, or the actor for Cisco, but the autos that George has shown off are wonderful.

  6. I am a big fan of Cryptozoic, I think they do an amazing job with the DC license and this release is proof of another win. The Character Bio cards are a really cool design.

  7. I LOVE the variations autographs which they showed you before the release.

I am not a huge fan of the overall inserts/hits.

I would add the binder as a redemption (1) per case. It would be a nice little bonus hit.

Thank you as always Sport Card Collectors & Cryptozoic

  8. I'm pretty excited that Season 2 was released on Netflix the other day.
My favorite cards are the character bios, because of the blurry flash speed lines/waves at the bottom of the card. That's a nice touch.
I'm a little bum they weren't able to secure some of the larger characters' autos like Barry, Iris or Cisco. The Caitlin Snow pull was pretty good though!

  10. Cryptozoic seems to have a pretty good handle on these products. They offer unique relic cards and nice insert sets. I can't wait for Orphan Black!

  11. Very cool of Cryptozoic to provide the box and for you to host the contest. They do a great job with the tv show sets. I like all the autographs because they include a bunch of guest stars usually that i"m familiar with from other shows or movies.

  14. That's a pretty great looking set. I'm a big fan of the show and Crytpozoic does a great job with it's show sets. I love the autographs I think they're great, I would loved to have seen multiple autographed cards, or maybe VS. autos or Rogues Gallery autos, maybe some relic autos, but overall a great product and thanks to Crytpzoic for the break.

  15. Crytpozoic has created some wonderful sets and the best part are the autograph cards. Best way to collect an original signature from your favorite actor. Bad news is the day of going to your local comic book store to buy a few packs is over. Dealers buy up all the product and sell the good cards on ebay. I don't trust that my local comic book store doesn't feel up or x-ray the card packs before selling them as single packs. Yes I'm paranoid! https://twitter.com/Tuckerpete/status/785513839500464128

  16. I have gotten somewhat more away from just collecting sports cards and gotten into some of these non-sports card products. I really like that you get both an autograph and relic card per box. At $75 a box it is quite a reasonable price. I just don't know if I could ever get totally away from sports cards as that is what really peaks my interest.

  17. Love the design for the autograph card, locations, and character bios. However, the other cards have too much dead space with the flash lightning bolts and just empty color areas. Should model more like sports cards, important scenes capturing the moments. Or add information about the characters on the card if you are going to have dead space.

  19. Really liked arrow S1. Hope this is similar! Some nice autos, just hope iris, barry and cisco will sign for the next! Regardless, props are a great new incentive too.

    Cheers

  20. I've only purchased a few packs of the arrow cards and found them to be very well made.

things I would change... Get Grant and Carlos to sign.
