REVIEW:2016 Cryptozoic Outlander Season 1+Giveaway!

Let's take a trip back in time, way back in time, and see the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world.

This is just the beginning of a story of love and more.

In each box of Outlander Season 1, you will find 5 Cards per pack and 24 packs per box. Boxes will run you $80 per.

The base set consists of 72 cards featuring images from the premier season. The photos are crystal clear and have high gloss. You should complete a base set in a box as well.

Fraser Crest silver foil variants fall 1:3 packs and feature a silver crest on the front. The variants are for the inserts too.

Thistle of Scotland gold foil variants are #/50 and fall 1:15 packs.

The inserts are all 9 card sets in which one box should complete them for you.

Speak Outlander fall 1:3 packs. Good luck reading the fronts unless you speak Outlander :0

Quotes fall 1:3 packs and feature all of the great lines from the show.

Character Bios fall 1:3 packs and feature a classic old design. I really dig it. It's like a famous painting hung on a wall.

Now onto the hits!

The wardrobes feature a nice layout design with a cool wardrobe cut out.

Once again, the on-card auto content in Cryptozoic products are outstanding. Design is always well done leaving lots of space for people to sign.

Other signers include:
Steven Cree as Ian Murray
Gary Lewis as Colum MacKenzie
Annette Badland as Mrs. Fitzgibbons
James Fleet as Reverend Wakefield
Simon Callow as Duke of Sandringham
Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie
Tobias Menzies as Frank Randall / Black Jack Randall
Lochlann O'Mearáin as Horrocks

Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
Duncan Lacroix as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser
Douglas Henshall as Taran MacQuarrie
Finn Den Hertog as Willie
Laura Donnelly as Jenny Fraser
Nell Hudson as Laoghaire MacKenzie

And once again, another printing plate surprise. These fall 1:128 packs. This one is hot magenta!
Overall, no complaints from me again on another well done Cryptozoic product. Complete base and insert sets, parallels (including at least one #d to 50), an on-card auto and wardrobe card plus other surprises. Feels worth it to me and a good autograph checklist.

Now onto how to win this auto card:

December Blogging Preview

I don't know about you guys, but I feel this year has come and gone and that's not a bad thing.

For me, it wasn't the best year with many health problems along with some financial struggles so I am looking forward to it ending and a better 2017.

But, we still have one more month to go and December will be a fun one here on Sport Card Collectors.

Normally, I don't have any idea what I am posting til Sunday hits. Every Sunday I sit down and spend at least a few hours doing my posts for the week and tweaking if need be throughout the week. But, for December, I am pretty set on what's going to be posted as I pulled off another huge trade this time with 90's Niche Football Card blog that may take most of the month to publish for a variety of reasons.

I am also announcing a new promo I will be doing that should be a blast and will take all of 2017 to accomplish. Stay tuned for info on that later in December.

Also as 2017 approaches, I am making a few changes on here that I am really looking forward to. For one, I am bringing back some classic segments including Hobby Topic, Caption This Card and more stuff involving 90's cards and maybe even toys. I am also going to be posting some different types of articles from stuff I found along the way in my big sorting project.

I plan on updating my want lists, PC info, Blog info and all of the pages to be up-to-date. The header on here will be different as well plus some other different changes to celebrate the year that SCC will turn 5 years old which will take place in March 2017.

Thanks again for reading and hope you will be ready for a long December and exciting 2017!

(also let me know in comments which segments you would like to see back)

'Only Got Time For Trading

This has been the year of trading for me as I have expanded my trading circle blogger by blogger. I haven't been much of a trader in the past because of not knowing others/trust, costs of shipping and having problems letting cards go. This year has been different. If I am going to add to my personal PC's this year especially, I am going to have to make some tough decisions and let some cards go.

I still won't trade with just anyone as I will check in with my trusted circle of traders first (which is what I hope most collectors would do as I have seen many things go wrong with online trades), but I will consider most trades as long as it's trading within the U.S., PWE can be an option of shipping and if I can personally let go of the requested card.

So when Andy from Ain't Nobody Got Time For Cardboard! contacted me about a trade, I knew I was fine trading with him as I have seen many others I traded with in the past trading with him.

I am definitely glad that he did contact me. Andy has some pretty sweet cards I got to add to my PC.

First, an Spx auto of Sean Henn. My first of him.

Next up, a couple rookie QB's autos. I always like to my rookie card collection especially from the most recent class. My 2016 purchases have been next to none so having any rookie autos from this class is a good thing.

I keep anticipating the Jets playing Hackenberg as their season continues to crumble, but still they don't. Maybe next year and I will have his rookie auto. Either way, he has a cool signature.

And the final card and what started this trade is this cool patch for my patch PC. I was really hoping it was game used but it's not. Typical for most cards now-a-days.Either way, still cool.

A huge thanks goes out to Andy on the trade and I look forward to future trades with you as well. I should also mention if Andy contacts you about a trade, I strongly suggest you follow through. Probably the fastest shipper I have ever seen in a trade. Usually I send first and way before anyone else, but I had no shot with him.

Breakin Wax:1997 Zenith Football Pack Break (Good Insert)

I save my best pack for last from my retro crate, a pack of 1997 Zenith football. One of my favorite brands of the 90's because of their slick base cards and fun inserts.

So let's get to ripping!

In each pack of 1997 Zenith football you will find 6 cards. Packs on the Jammin JD Sport Card website go for $2 each and can be found, HERE. That price is much cheaper as you can see they originally were.

The base card design for 1997 was okay. Wasn't my favorite of the late 90's designs, you will find out which one was in my blog revamp in January, but the base cards were thick and had an high end appeal.

Found Emmitt in my pack.

"Rookies" subset as I call this since they feature a player from the previous years rookie class, had a better design than the base. I wished Zenith had featured actual rookies. That would have made it even better.

And my last card from the pack, a lenticular V2 1:23 odds (1 per box) that shows Favre in motion. Beautiful card all around and you can't go wrong with the player pull either. I had always wanted one of these and hadn't ever pulled one. So I traded for a Galloway one not long ago, then I pull one. What are the odds??
Overall, best $2 I have spent recently. Pulled an Emmitt and Harrison base, then land a sick Favre insert, I was pretty stoked.

I had a lot of fun busting my retro crate from Jammin JD and would definitely want to do it all over again. The memories and the unknown insert finds with every pack I opened made me smile. That's simply what the hobby is about to me.

Well, 4 weeks and 242 entries later, and we finally reached the end of Part 1 of the Jammin JD Sports Cards promo. Part 2 coming up in January!

But, as promised four weeks ago, we have 2 winners to announce. One will get a 2016 Clear Vision Hobby Box, the other, a sweet Jammin JD Sport Card retro crate.

I sent Jammin JD Sport Cards the entries yesterday and they were randomed. Here are the results after 8 randoms.....

Congrats to JG24ever on winning the 2016 Clear Vision hobby box and to Liam Cunnington on the Retro Crate win! Please contact Jammin JD Sports Cards either on Twitter or email him at jamminjdcards@gmail.com with your address.

Thanks to everyone who entered and get ready in January for Part 2 of this promo.

Breakin Wax:1995 Stadium Club High Numbers Football Pack

When I was searching through my order from the Retro Crate I got from Jammin JD Sports Cards, I noticed there was an extra pack. So I questioned him and said it was a freebie with the order he tosses in.

Well, here it is. To me, can't go wrong with a free pack of Stadium Club.

In every pack of 1995 Stadium Club High Numbers football is 10 cards. Packs on the Jammin JD Sport Card website go for .75 and can be found, HERE.

I found not only the typical action packed photography you come to expect from Stadium Club, but also some great players.

Good group right here. Love the throwback Elway uni.

Also like the Means in his throwback.

Also pulled a 1:3 Bowman's Best insert. If only Mirer's college career could had carried over to the pros.

What can I say, can't go wrong with a free pack and one that provides what this one did.

I have also opened many others of these from his as well. It's a great price for the possible finds you can have.

Week 4 Jammin JD Sports Cards Promo Winner

I was a bit surprised by the downed turnout in the final week of the Jammin JD Sports Cards promo. Less than 30 decided they wanted to try and win a hobby box while 70 the week before wanted to win a blaster box. Makes any sense to you? Doesn't me.

Well, anyways, here are those lucky ones who did enter and wanted to win a hobby box. I emailed the names to Jammin this morning and here were the results...
and after he randomed them 8 times.....

Congrats to Tread Willis on winning the 2016 Donruss Preffered Football hobby box. Please contact Jammin JD Sports Cards either on Twitter or email him at jamminjdcards@gmail.com with your address.
Thanks to everyone who entered and stay tuned for the grand prize winners tomorrow!!

By the way, these were the answers to the hidden JD marks:

REVIEW:2016 Cryptozoic Orphan Black Season 1+GIVEAWAY

Alright guys, I feel pretty stoked to be the first to show off a box break of this product that doesn't release til Wednesday November 30th 2016. Think of this as your purchasing guide preview.

If you haven't ever watched Orphan Black, here is a quick summary.

The series stars Sarah Manning. who is known as a con artist, witnessing a suicide of a woman named Beth Childs who appears to be her doppelgänger. So doing what any con artist would do in that kinda situation, Sarah assumes Beth's identity and occupation as a police detective after Beth's death. This takes the meaning of if the shoe fits to another level.

However, Sarah discovers that her doppleganger was more than just that. She finds out she is a clone, that she has many 'sister' clones spread throughout North America and Europe, and that someone is plotting to kill them and her. So alongside her foster brother, Felix Dawkins, and two of her fellow clones, Alison Hendrix and Cosima Niehaus, Sarah discovers the origin of the clones and her adventure begins....

And our break now begins as well....

In every box of 2016 Cryptozoic Orphan Black, there are 5 Cards per pack and 24 packs per box. Boxes will run roughly $80 per.

There are 72 cards in the base set featuring episodic images from the first season. The cards are printed on high gloss and have nice full color photography.

You should complete a base set in a box.

The inserts fit the theme of the show and what Cryptozoic is known for doing.

There are 9 cards per insert set and you should get them all.

There are parallel cards to find. My pictures here don't really show them that well, but they are foil board parallels that fall 1:3 packs.

Quotes, the good ones from the show, fall 1:3 packs.

Character Bios fall 1:3 packs. I really like the design on these.

Felix's Loft fall 1:3 packs. If you turn the cards over, they are each individually a puzzle piece once put together .....

Make one big puzzle.

Now onto the hits.

My first hit is of Sarah's foster brother Felix. Cool design and unique swatch.

My next pull is an on-card autograph of David Richmond-Peck who plays Olivier Duval.

Here are the rest of the signers in Season 1:
Graeme Manson, Creator
John Fawcett, Creator
Kristian Bruun as Donnie Hendrix
Tatiana Maslany as Sarah Manning
Inga Cadranel as Detective Angela DeAngelis
Skyler Wexler as Kira
Nicholas Rose as Colin
Eric Johnson as Chad Norris
Evelyne Brochu as Delphine Cormier
Jordan Gavaris as Felix Dawkins
David Richmond-Peck as Olivier Duval
Kevin Hanchard as Detective Art Bell
Melanie Nicholls-King as Amelia
Michael Mando as Vic
Marqus Bobesich as Rockabilly Bob

And to my surprise, I pulled a Printing Plate that falls 1:86 packs. I have never pulled a 1/1 plate from Cryptozoic before.

Overall, a solid break especially with the plate surprise at the end.  I think the theme design elements look great throughout. The on-card autographs from the actors/actresses are bonus and some unique swatches for the wardrobe cards.

Now time for the giveaway!

To win this autographed card above, read the rules below!

Breakin Wax:Jammin JD Sports Cards Superior Hits Pack Break

I am always into trying new things just to see what they are in the hobby. That's what brings us to today's product you may or may not have heard of before.

They are Jammin JD Sport Cards hit football packs. There are three levels to try and currently only football is offered. My pack break is the medium level with Superior. There is also the low level of Solid Hits and a higher level of Elite Hits. All 3 can be found on the Jammin JD Sports Cards website, HERE..

In each Superior Hits pack, you will find 10 cards that will run for $39.99 a pack. Those will be broken down as follows.
  • 5 Hits, at least 2 Autographed Cards
  • 2 Rookies
  • 2 Serial-Numbered Cards
  • 1 Insert
Hits in these packs are Jersey Cards, Autographed Cards and Printing Plates.
So let's see how it goes.
Up first, here are my insert finds. The Phillip Rivers is /25 and the Wayne is /49. Overall, a good group of players.

I also lucked out in my pack and instead of that fifth insert, I got an extra hit.

Here is the hit gallery.

49/49. I think this is my first Immaculate card.

Nice looking card with a solid patch. West is having a pretty solid season for Baltimore. I bet Cleveland wished they hadn't let him go even though it would take more than a running back to fix their team.

I pulled a lot of West and surprisingly don't have this one. Maybe I should PC him haha.

My final pull was a nice 3-color auto patch of Kenny Stills. He has had an up and down season, but will still be a solid add to my rookie auto collection for a just-in-case.

Overall, a solid break. If you think about it, each card would have to value at least $4 each and I think in the end they even out that way from some research I did. I do wished I had pulled a Giant, but you just don't know what you will find in these since they are randomly packed.

Thoughts on this break are welcomed below in comments.

Breakin Wax:1999 Collectors Edge Triumph

I felt triumphant that I was able to pick up a pack of 1999 Collectors Edge Triumph from Jammin JD Sports Cards.

Collectors Edge put out some brilliant products in the 90's and I for one wished they were still around.

Once again my blog didn't upload the pack picture, can't ever figure out why it does that once in awhile, but it does but here is the breakdown. Each pack comes with 8 cards and on the Jammin JD Sports Cards website they go for $2 a pack and can be found HERE

Let's get to ripping!

I pulled some decent players in my box including the great Barry Sanders. Kevin Dyson also brings back some memories of the Music City Miracle. I can still remember watching that live on TV.

JEFF GEOGRE! Thinking I need to call the cardboard cops on this guy.

Rookie card find. Rob Konrad. Not the best but rookies

And a nice looking insert find. Sorry my camera phone took such a poor blurry pic. Either way you can't go wrong with Peyton Manning.

Overall, Barry Sanders, a rookie card and a Peyton Manning insert, let me pay $2 for that any day.  Did I also mention that there is a chance at autographs too????
