The Good, The Bad, The USPS

In what has been the oddest trade I have had in terms of the USPS, I finally received one of my two packages a couple of days ago from @JGfan24ever.

Before I go on with my mail day, here is a backstory.

About a week ago, @JGfan24ever had a Giants card (I won't mention what it is so I don't ruin the surprise when it arrives) that I really wanted so we agreed upon a trade. We both mailed out our ends about a day apart and his end was set to arrive for this past Monday and mine was for Tuesday.

Well, USPS had other plans.

While I stared at my phone for him to receive his, it appeared they walked by his house and forgot to deliver it on Monday. But, luckily for him, he got it that Tuesday. That was the first scare. The second one, that still is continuing, was mine as I waited for my Giants card to arrive on Tuesday. Everything looked great til USPS decided to forward my package on for some reason. The last time this happened I waited 17 days for a card. I knew at that moment a new nightmare may begin.

I am currently still waiting on the card since Tuesday with no further updates on where it is. I am not happy and have no idea what to do. I may call them today and check to see if they have any updates.

In the meantime before I rant too much, we pulled off a second trade. @JGfan24ever had picked up some Giants cards for me and had the person he bought from send them my way. In return, I sent him some Colts. Once again I feared the same issue would occur as tracking showed me it arrived at my post office. Luckily this time, they ended up in my mail box and not on the moon somewhere.
So let's show off what arrived.

Up first, a Damontre Moore autograph. It's too bad this guy didn't pan out. There was high expectations for him.

Andre Brown War Room jersey. He had a few good games but failed to make it as a full time starter. But, a Giants a Giant!

A sweet looking Tools Of The Trade Andre Williams. This makes Williams number 88.

Up next, an amazing Rueben Randle. Love this addition to my PC. Marks Randle number 103.

And finally, a 2/20 Eli Manning memorabilia add. Even though Eli has been around since 2004, this is only like my 5th jersey card of his.
A big thanks goes out to @JGfan24ever for the trade. I really appreciate it! I hope the other package arrives soon so I can show that off as well.
Thoughts on my trade mail day are welcomed. Also would be curious if you ever had issues with USPS with forwarding your packages before and having them be lost for weeks. Let me know in comments!

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 8: Brett Favre

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

Today, well, you see a HOFer jersey card, you snatch it. Brett was someone I grew up watching but despising at the same time for his multiple defeats of the Giants. However, I gained a ton of respect for him when he let Michael Strahan, yes let, break the single season sack record.

So here are a couple new Brett adds:

Thoughts on today's cards are welcomed in comments.

REVIEW:Cryptozoic The Flash Season 1 And GIVEAWAY!

Can you imagine being struck by lightning by a freak storm, being put in a coma for 9 months only to wake up as the fastest person alive? Well, that's what happened to Barry Allen. And now he is Central City's savior from evil doers around!

I am lucky to be able to call myself one of the early breakers of this product as it doesn't release til 10/12. I wasn't technically the first as GoGTSLive beat me to it but I must be the second. So this will give you some early time to decide on how many boxes you want to bust :)

So let's see how fast I can break this box for you to see. Probably not that fast as Barry as he finished before the product released.

Every box of Cryptozoic's The Flash Season 1 comes with 24 packs and 5 cards per pack. You should get one on-card autograph and one wardrobe card per box. Boxes are will run about $75.

Base cards are high gloss, top notch designed and capture key episode moments from Season 1. I really like the starter to the set (bottom card).

There are 72 cards in the base set in which a box should provide you a set.

These are rainbow foil parallels I pulled. I don't see any details on odds on these but with 8 pulled, I assume 1:3. I really like these a lot and would make for a fun set chase. It adds a bit more flash to Flash.

Another parallel I found in my box but without info on is the "Flash Symbol" parallel. These are printed with gold foil so not sure if other foils are out to be found or not. But, it's a nice surprise by Cryptozoic who have been known to throw in a few here and there.

I assume these are 1:12 since I pulled 2.

Locations fall 1:3 packs. Capturing the different locations in the show.

Rogues fall 1:3 packs. The bad guys. I assume this is a 9 card set that I completed. I am sure as the product gets closer more info will be released and I will update this.
Character Bios fall 1:4 packs. These look really cool especially in the foil version I pulled. Great design on these.
Time for the hits!

Here is my wardrobe pull, great look to the card.

And my on-card autograph pull was of the one and only Danielle Panabaker.
Other signers in this product are....
Liam McIntyre as Mark Mardon / Weather Wizard
Amanda Pays as Dr. Tina McGee
Doug Jones as Jake Simmons / Deathbolt
Andy Mientus as Hartley Rathaway / Pied Piper
Malese Jow as Linda Park
Logan Williams as Young Barry
William Sadler as Simon
Anthony Carrigan as Kyle Nimbus
Michael Reventar as Farooq Gibran
Chad Rook as Clyde Mardon / Weather Wizard
Emily Kinney as Brie Larvan / Bug-Eyed Bandit
Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart
David Sobolov as Gorilla Grodd
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Devon Graye as Axel Walker / The Trickster
Kelly Frye as Bette Sans Souci / Plastique
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow
Peyton List as Lisa Snart / Golden Glider
Greg Finley as Tony Woodward / Girder
Paul Anthony as Roy G. Bivolo / Rainbow Raider
Patrick Sabongui as Captain David Singh
Robert Knepper as William Tockman / Clock King
Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein
Jesse L. Martin as Joe West
Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells / Reverse Flash
Other pulls not found in my box are Dual Wardrobe cards that fall 1:96 packs and Printing Plate cards that fall 1:208 packs. There may be other prop cards to find as well.
Oh and if you decide to buy the collectors binder to put your cards in, that comes with an exclusive prop card from the show shown here:
Overall, a pretty solid break in my opinion especially with the Panabaker pull. With a base set, some insert sets, parallels, some surprises and 2 hits it seems well worth the price if you like the show and if you compare it to some sports products that offer less for this price.

The product also has a very solid autograph checklist and some nice swatches in the wardrobe cards.

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 7:Swirly Brock

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

For a few years now I have kicked myself for trading away a Topps Chrome Black Refractor Rookie autograph of Brock Osweiler as I had a feeling he had a future ahead of him. So, how do I make myself feel a tad better, acquiring an autograph to fill the need.

Even if the guy doesn't pan out, I still like his swirly signature.
Thoughts on today's card is welcomed!

REVIEW:2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball+WIN MY HIT!

1967 continues its return in 2016 Topps Heritage with High Series finishing off where it started in Low Series. This time it features rookie call-ups and veteran transactions that have happened since.
There's not a lot of bells and whistles to it, but the product is a popular one among collectors with it's throwback designs and hard/fun to chase variations.

Let's see my thoughts on the product. Read On!

In every box of 2016 Topps Heritage High Number, there are 24 packs with 9 cards per pack. There is also one Box Topper. Boxes run about $60. There will be one autograph or relic per box.

When you open the box, you will find one of these....

that could have one of these 1967 Ad Panels or you can find something a bit tougher from the following...

  • 1967 Topps Originals  The Original 1967 Topps cards foil-stamped
  • 1967 TOPPS PUNCHBOARDS Box loaders styled after the 1967 Topps Baseball Punchboards game.
  • You can also find Insert /50, Jumbo Patch Relics /25, Autographs /10 and Jumbo Patch Relic Autographs/10.
The base cards are numbered 501-725 with the last 25 cards being short-printed at 1:3 packs.

The product is loaded with rookies including Kenta Maeda, Julio Urias, Nomar Mazara, Max Kepler, Jameson Taillon, Trevor Story, Lucas Giolito, Albert Almora, A.J. Reed, Michael Fulmer, Hyun Soo Kim, Edwin Diaz, Joey Rickard, Blake Snell, and Jose Berrios.I pulled this Gamel out cause he's a Yank but I got a good half of these rookies in my box.
This is the bottom of the back of the base card. You might be wondering or maybe already know why I posted this and why it's significant, if not, I will be putting more about this in a second. The key part I want you to look at is the 110 in the Code at the bottom.

Before I move onto the short prints, THIS LINK will be your best friend. Beckett helps break down each one. But, I will do my best with what I pulled to help.

For me, it's always been tough to see the difference in some of the parallels in Heritage. Sometimes near impossible. But, I am glad they followed suit with the flagship and helped define the differences by changing the bottom code. It still strains your eyes, but you are at least able to see the difference that way much easier. It took me awhile to go through the box

Here are your options to find:
Action Image Variations (just meaning an action shot), Team Name Color Variations (color switch), Red Backs (well...), Gum Damage Backs, Flip Stock (a card mullet, glossy on the back-rough in the front), and Mini Base that are numbered to 100.

My first round of variations are the easiest find in the Gum Damaged backs.

The backs are bit lighter than the darker green backs.Smells a little like gum too :)

Other than the lighter green back, notice at the bottom of card the code changes the last three digits. These are 118 for Gum Stained backs.

Up next, those Action Image variations. It's obvious if you have the base card to go along with it.

If you don't have the base, then once again, check those digits. These are 122.

My next find in the box other than the gum stained Maeda below, was the tough to pull of a blank back Error variation.

Code is 989

All inserts fall 1:8 packs and you should get a good amount of them. The designs sticks to the Heritage feel.

COMBO CARDS Features two or more players who are standouts for their team.

AWARD WINNERS is for those who won awards in 2015.

My favorite designed insert of the group was the Rookie Performers. Feels like it was done in '67. They show the top rookies of 2016.

NOW AND THEN insert shows highlights from the 2016 season and connections to 1967.

Up next, the fun yearly add in Heritage...Chrome. Basically, it's the Topps Heritage designed card chromed. These fall 1:22 packs or basically one-per-box are numbered to 999.

When there is chrome, there are refractors. Here are those:
  • Chrome Refractor are numbered to 567.
  • Black Bordered Chrome are numbered to 67.
  • Gold Bordered Chrome are numbered to 5.
  • Hot Box Refractor
Now onto my hit. The usual find at least in my case. Others might have better luck.

Mine is a single Clubhouse Collection.
Clubhouse Collection Relics have a Gold Parallel numbered to 99.

Other hits you can find in these boxes are....
Clubhouse Collection Dual Relics: An active and retired player from the same franchise with a game worn relic of each. Hand-numbered to 65.
Clubhouse Collection TRIPLE Relics: Three active and retired players from the same franchise with their game worn relics featured. Hand-numbered to 25.
Clubhouse Collection QUAD Relics: Four active and retired players from the same franchise with their game worn relics. Hand-numbered to 10.

There are autographs to find to. Really tough to pull, but are all on-card!

Real One autographs are the base cards signed in layman's terms. They feature retired and active players. There are special editions signed in red and hand-numbered to 67. Real One autographed duals can be found as well and are hand-numbered to 25.
Other autographs are
1967 BASEBALL CUT SIGNATURES that are numbered 1/1.
1967 CELEBRITY CUT SIGNATURES Musicians and celebrities who were popular in 1967 signed these bad boys and these are numbered 1/1.
Clubhouse Collection Autograph Relics that are hand-numbered to 25.
Clubhouse Collection Dual Autograph Relics feature two players with swatches and autographs and are hand-numbered to 10.

Overall, it's a product not for everyone. Honestly when I buy the product I usually stick to retail because one-hit just doesn't feel like enough for me. But, looking at a hobby box break there are a lot of great things retail doesn't offer so that alone may sway me now. The variations are a fun chase and the deep checklist is good for set collectors especially those willing to chase the Sp's as well.

Those who like seeing today's players in yesterday's designs will definitely dig this product.

If you are a big hit chaser this product probably isn't for you, if you are just looking to break something for fun with a chance at a great hit, then why not take a dive in.

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 6:Field Plate Auto!

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

Today's card I chose simply because of the design. I have no relationship with Toby or the Vikings but I really dig the look of the card.
Have you ever traded for a card simply for the design? Let me know in comments or any thoughts on today's card

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 5:Other Teamed Giants

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

Today are players who were/are Giants.

Warner played for the Giants for a very short time in 2004 before Eli took over. But, I always was a fan of his from his Rams years. The guy not only has a positive attitude, but he made the teams he played for better.

This is a piece of football and has an extra part to it as it was used in a game vs the Giants.

Vereen is a current Giant and former Hatriot, sorry, Patriot. The guy is a weapon and should be used more then they actually use him as he showed vs the Redskins. It's just too bad he got injured.

This is a pretty nice patch swatch.
Thoughts on today's cards are welcomed below!

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 4:An Odell Of a Start

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

Today's card is what kicked off the trade. He had been waiting on a redemption from Topps for awhile and it finally arrived. Once I saw the card, I pretty much put in a claim for it.

As everyone knows, I am a big Giants fan and this card fits perfectly into my collection. I think it marks my 3rd or 4th Odell now as I once started at 0. But, you just can't have enough of him as I feel he still is in the Top 5 WR's in the NFL right now. Just needs an attitude adjustment.
Thoughts on the first card anyone?? More to come!

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 3:90's Wax

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

As I put in the original post, I traded for some 90's wax to bust. I have been dying to open some for awhile now so with it being football season I chose some football.

I must also put a throw-in for my buddy at Project Pedro Blog if you haven't ever checked his blog out. He does a #CheapWaxWednesday post every Wednesday featuring a variety of products from a variety of years. It's a well done pack by pack post and if you don't believe me, just check one out like you can HERE.

Now back to my wax which isn't usually broken down as well as his is.
In this box are the following:
  • 1999 1st Place Football (1 auto per box)
  • 1996 Pinnacle Summitt Football
  • 1997 Absolute Beginnings Football
  • 1999 Topps Gold Label Football
  • 1997 New Pinnacle Football
I have already busted all of these and can say I fared pretty well with all but one box. One box though I will save for last as it far exceeded my expectations.
Let me know in comments which ones you are waiting to see.

Tomorrow, we kick off some individual cards. I will mix the 90's wax in as we go along too.

Sunday, October 2, 2016

A week or so ago, @DJSeneseiNJ on Twitter contacted me and said he found some NY Giants cards to send me just because. I wasn't going to say no of course and provided my address.

Yesterday, a good stack of Giants arrived so let's take a gander.

Some 90's fun in this mix including Thomas Lewis who follows me on Twitter by the way :)

Travis Beckum rookie, I expected a lot more out of him but the Giants haven't really had a dominating tight end since the other guy in this group in Shockey played. He was a fierce competitor on the field for sure!

I haven't ever seen these. Great looking cards and got all of my Giants favorites.

Parallel too. Really nice looking set.

Some other Giants I haven't seen in the game ones. My first ever Dusty Zeigler add.

I always loved this base card and only Upper Deck could capture something like this. I hope that Odell will be doing this in 2017 :)

Hamptons! And to my surprise, a new one in the Rhett/Hampton! Yesssssss! Hampton 411.

And to end the mail day, another auto for my Giants autograph collection. Well, I call it an auto but some may call that a scribble. Wow, his signature will probably go on the list of worst all time.
Overall, a HUGE thank you to @DJSeneseiNJ for his generosity in sending me these. If you have Twitter and don't follow him, I suggest you do. He has contests and likes to interact with other collectors.

Thoughts on my mail day are welcomed in comments!
