A Golden Running Predictor

Here we are back again with another Rodney Hampton PC add. This time we take a trip back to 1994 and with Upper Deck's Predictor game cards.

Today's card isn't a redemption version, it's a winning card.

Back in 1994, Upper Deck inserted Predictor cards at a rate of 1:20 in it's retail product. If the featured player did the feat they posted, you could exchange that card for a set of winning cards with foil. It was a fun promo that I wished still was around today.

Once again, cards like these are not always easy to find. I see many people selling these as the full sets instead of the individual cards that would sell for a much less premium. At least this Hampton was found at a reasonable $2.

SI For Kids Cards November 2017

Here is my 12th installment of this series.

I have been collecting SI For Kids cards for year and thought I would share them with you and help you decide if you should pick up the latest issue of SI For Kids for yourself.

Sorry I missed the October version but it didn't really have the normal cards in them. It was an oddball thing that wasn't really worth showing.

Once again I found myself looking for Aaron Judge but came up empty on the card end anyways. How do they not have him in here yet?!?!

This month still pretty solid without Judge. Kareem Hunt who wasn't a household name at first and now has definitely made a name for himself. Other big names like Stanton and Laine find themselves on here as well.

Maybe in December , as a Christmas gift, we will find ourselves a Judge card.

Thoughts on this months cards are welcomed below.

REVIEW:2017 Topps Luminaries

Topps Luminaries just rolls off the tongue nicely.

The product also looks just as nice. Even the box it comes in looks nice.

Let's check out what the cards inside look like and see what this high end product has to offer.
Each box of 2017 Topps Luminaries baseball has one encased autograph or autograph relic numbered to 15 or less. Boxes like I mentioned are high end and it's $249 per box.

The checklist for Luminaries features players of today, tomorrow and yesterday with names like Judge, Bo, Yaz, McGwire, and Trout. You can find the complete checklist HERE

My pull, like most of mine in 2017, wasn't any of those. But, it was of a Yankee I was fond of in the winning years, Bernie Williams. This card was a red parallel numbered to 10.

The cards look extremely sharp and the Autographs really stand out on them because of the design, color and layout. Even though it wasn't a top pull, it's fun to find players of your youth you appreciated.

Since that was the only card of the box, time for a rest of product breakdown.

Other findings in this product include,

Plenty to find in here!!

OVERALL, It's tough to swallow pulling a maybe $100 card out of a $240 card box. This product looks really nice, has a great selection of big time pulls, but is a big time gamble. Once again, what product isn't? This is one being so pricey is a bit more of a gambler and is for those big time hobby gamblers for those who are strictly out there for the big hits.

Once again with a one hit product, it's tough. I would have liked to seen multiple hits per box or some kinda rare parallel or printing plate added in as well. Something extra to take the sting off from a rough box. There are some huge signers in the product but it also has it's Bernie Williams and Josh Donaldsons. I am not saying there is anything wrong with those guys, but they are definitely no Mike Trout and Hank Aaron.

I am curious on your thoughts on a product like this. Please leave them below.

Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review. Some of the above hits will be found in future contest promos I will run on here time to time. PLEASE Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well

My First Fuji Mail Day

Recently I have been contacting some bloggers I have been wanting to mail cards to but never have. Fuji of The Chronicles Of Fuji blog fame was one of those guys.

So I contacted him and he asked for my info as well to mail me some NY Giants items. However, sadly, he had his mail day to me before I could even get his packed out. (I finally did get his put together and mailed this week)

Here were the contents.

Gmen mania! All four of these are new adds. It includes one of my favorite Giants TE's in Shockey. However, I am digging me some Engram this year.

Kerry Collins!! One of my all time favorite players. I had routed him on since 1995 when he was with the Panthers. Loved when he joined the Giants.

Another new Collins here and a new Eli. Eli is about the only bright spot besides Engram on the Giants this year.

Tiki. Loved his play on the field, not so much his attitude.

I have never seen one of these before. Very cool add of Y.A. Tittle.

Giants have had some great running backs over the years, Morris was one of them. I don't remember him playing since I liked football later on in the 90's, but my father told me many stories of Joe and his runs.

Eli rookie year card I didn't have. Awesome! I believe in Eli!

Brandon Myers was supposed to be the next big thing for the Giants weak TE position, never panned out and left after a year.  I do like these Magic Mini's however and I didn't have this card of him either.

DJ Hall never really panned out but Plaxico did. His game winning Super Bowl catch in Super Bowl 42 and his incredible games in the playoffs that year especially against the Packers will never be forgotten. I know he will be mostly known for the guy who shot himself in the leg, but that's not how I will remember him.

A huge thanks to Fuji for the mail day. I was quite impressed you were able to find so many new Giants for someone who has close to 4,000 cards of them.

I hope we can exchange again soon and hope you enjoy what I sent. I have more to come for you after that one :)

Action Packed With Gold!

Here it is, the final Hampton post in my drafts. I hope you guys have enjoyed the gallery over the last few months. There was a lot of fun stuff to show off and hopefully a lot of it brought you back or made you see something you hadn't before.

My pickup today came in a trade with Dub Mentality Blog a few months ago. It's a 1991 Action Packed 24K Gold parallel. The only difference between this and the regular base card is the small 24-Kt. Gold Stamp at the bottom you can barely see.
These were randomly found in packs with no given odds. I picked up the 1992 version about a year ago, so I am happy to finally have both of them. Some of those early 90's inserts aren't always easy to find.
Thanks again Dub for the trade and for the three new Hampton additions to my PC. Hope we can do it again soon.

REVIEW:2017 Topps Archives Signature Series Postseason Edition Baseball

Every October a team or player steps up big in the playoffs and leads their team to a World Series title. This year it was George Springer and past years have many, many October heroes.

Those heroes both big name and small can be found in today's product review with an autograph. Let's check out which hero I landed.

In every box of 2017 Topps Archives Signature Series Postseason Edition Baseball you will find one encased autograph card. Players from the 80's,90's and 2000's can be found on the checklist and from the card brand selections. Boxes can be had much cheaper than the Active Players falling at $40 per.

The players are all retired as opposed to the Archives Signature Series active players edition and the players in the set have multiple cards and multiple print runs. The Postseason version is like the Archives brand we have come to enjoy every year. It features some long ago forgot about players who once played a big role for their teams.

One of those players is the one that I pulled in Keith Foulke. This one is numbered to 39 and is signed on one of my favorite Stadium Club designs of all time.
Foulke is among a mixed set of players on the checklist. You can find the checklist for this product right, HERE.

Other hits not found in my box are dual autographs and relic autographs.

OVERALL, I think it's fun to find signed cards of players of the past, which is why I enjoy the Archives brand, but unlike the base product this one can be a bit of a gamble since you are basically banking on the one card. However, the gamble isn't as big as it was with the Active Players edition.

For the collectors, this is a fun one looking for those players you may not find too often in products. The key as always for Archives.

For those looking to hit it big, well, this may not be completely up your alley even though there are some big names on the checklist like Aaron and Ripken and of course, Jeter.

Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review. Some of the above hits will be found in future contest promos I will run on here time to time. PLEASE Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well

REVIEW: Cryptozoic Arrow Season 4+GIVEAWAY!

Just as Oliver Queen returned home to become the Green Arrow, I returned home after a day out to become a reviewer of the latest Cryptozoic release Arrow Season 4 and host a giveaway from it.

Doesn't that make me a hero?

Many say that Season 4 was the best season to date with so much action with two core members lost, a new city name and the evil Damien Darhk leading assassinations against Star City. Not to mention H.I.VE's plans to take out Team Arrow once and for all. Thrilling all around!

So you know that the latest release from Cryptozoic of the hit show has got to be just as thrilling. So let's take a look!

(I should also mention before I continue on that this product doesn't release until Wednesday, November 15th 2017)

Each box of Cryptozoic Arrow Season 4 has 24 packs per box with 5 cards per pack. Boxes come with one on-card autograph and one wardrobe card per. Boxes run $85 per.
Cryptozoic does a great job with their image selection in their 72-card base set for season 4. Each box should provide you with a base set or at very least really close to one

It's hard to tell from my pictures, but these are foil variants. Not sure what the odds are but it must be 1:3 packs assuming. These can be found for both insert and base cards.

Now onto the inserts. All of the main inserts had a very solid design that fits right into this action packed show.
First insert is OLICITY that falls 1:3 packs. I put together the 9 card insert set.

Second insert is Locations that falls 1:3 packs and I as well put this set together with one bonus card as well.

Character Bios is the final insert that falls 1:3 packs and once again I got the 9-card set of it.

Sticker cards have a unique artistic/sketch card look to them and fall 1:24 packs.

Other insert that I didn't pull was CZ STR PWR Chase Cards that have their own variations as well of Red (1:144 packs); Silver (1:288 packs); Gold (/25); and Black (1 of 1)

It's time for the hits!

My first find was this wardrobe card of Willa Holland who plays Thea Queen. Nicely designed relic.
You can also find dual wardrobe cards matching up two stars from the show.
Now onto my on-card autograph. First I must mention because it was BIG, BIG NEWS for this product that Stephen Amell who plays Oliver Queen / Green Arrow has his very first autograph cards in the product. How about that?!
But, sadly that wasn't my pull. I landed Jeri Ryan who plays Jessica Danforth.
Here is the full list of signers in the product,
Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow
Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak
Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance
Caity Lotz as Sara Lance / The Canary
Alexander Calvert as Lonnie Machin / Anarky
Amy Gumenick as Carrie Cutter / Cupid
Adrian Glynn McMorran as Michael Amar / Murmur
Anna Hopkins as Samantha Clayton
Audrey Marie Anderson as Lyla Michaels
Casper Crump as Vandal Savage
Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak
Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl
Emily Kinney as Brie Larvan / Bug-Eyed Bandit
Falk Hentschel as Carter Hall / Hawkman
Janet Kidder as Ruvé Adams
Jeri Ryan as Jessica Danforth
JR Bourne as Jeremy Tell / Double Down
Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul
Matt Ryan as Constantine
Nolan Gerard Funk as Cooper Seldon
Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk
Parker Young as Alex Davis
Rila Fukushima as Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana
Tiera Skovbye as Madison Danforth
Other hits not found in my box are, Rare redemption cards redeemable for full size, on-screen props! (pretty awesome), Sketch cards that fall 1:288 packs and 1/1 Printing Plates.
OVERALL, price is a tad high right now but with Amell signing that's going to drive this up a tad and an overall solid autograph lineup this season. The product overall is very attractive in terms of design. There is a ton of great hits to be found especially if you are lucky enough to land one of those redemption cards for a full sized relic from the show. Cryptozoic is trying their hardest to get us as close as they can to the show and I like that.

I also like pulling a base set and insert sets in a box for added value.
Now for the giveaway,

Kicking Off November With A Win

November kicked off great for me as I found out I was one of two winners in the #SmokeBreaks 1k follower contest hosted by @footballcrdonly.

The prizes was a variety of relics and autographs among numbered cards as well. I saw some Giants in there and that really got me excited. It's about the only thing with that I can use the words Giants and excitement together this season.

Up first, some bonus cards he tossed in. Nice rookie lot and a few shiny items.

Among the bonus items, a pink refractor of Ellsbury and a Porzingas rookie card. I only have one of his so I was pretty happy to add that.

Now onto the main course.

Some #GiantsPride in Victor Cruz Crown Royale /99 and a Sterling Shepard rookie card.

Some former #GiantsPride in Keith Rivers. Didn't have one of his autographs.

A nice looking Select relic of Tre Mason. I really like the yellow swatch.

And to finish the mail day a variety of relics and autographs including another for my non sport PC.
A big thanks goes out to @footballcrdonly for the sweet mail day. If your not following him yet or checked out his breaks yet, please do.

Thoughts on my mail day are welcomed in comments.

Eli Picks:2004 Fleer Platinum Youth Movement

Eli's Picks is a segment where Eli himself, well a stuffed Bleacher Creature version, picks his favorite base/insert cards to show off.
Another new edition of Eli's Picks as we move more into football season. I am not sure how many more of these will make the cut before I make a few blog changes but I will decide later on. As of right now, this is the finale.

Eli chose a card from his rookie year this time. It's an insert from 2004 Fleer Platinum that has some embossing on it. Which is what the real catch about the cards actually is to him. He doesn't think the picture is too shabby either.

I am not sure what the odds are on this as I couldn't find any information on them, but I would assume knowing the product they were probably one or two per box. I was lucky to add this one thanks to 90's Niche Football Card Blog.

Black Diamond Single

Well, today's Rodney Hampton post I moved up a year to 1997 figuring you were sick of 1996 stuff.

Like I have stated before, there are some simple Rodney Hampton cards I needed to add and today's card is one of them.

It's simply a base card from 1997 Black Diamond a stunning looking product at the time. Gotta love that Fx feel.
I also have the red parallel, so only the gold remains a need for me from this set and shouldn't be a tough add, but just gotta have the funds and the means to find it. You can see all of my Rodney Hampton needs, HERE.
Another thanks goes out to Jammin JD Sports Cards on helping me knock another off from the list.

A Card Supial

Today's latest card I got from Jammin JD Sports Cards, looks bigger than it actually is. The card is actual a pretty mini card blown up on here.

It's from 1996 Pacific Crown Collection. It's a 1:37 mini Card Supial. Not a whole lot special with this card other than being a mini. Design is kinda bland but I do like the pic they used of Hampton.
Well, I know you guys may not wanna hear it, but more Hampton posts are on the way!

Hampton Archived

Not all of my remaining Rodney Hampton needs are these rare inserts, some are simply just base cards I haven't hunted down yet.

Today's card is a simple example of that. A 2013 Topps Archives base that was throwing it back to 1993 Topps.
A big thanks to Jammin JD Sports Cards for the help on getting this one off my list.

Cut Backs:Members Only

When I first got today's card from Jammin JD Sports Cards, I assumed it was the regular Cut Backs inserts I needed from 1996 Stadium Club. The regular version of these fall 1:36 packs and have held their value over the years for the top players.

This is the front which I thought looked like the regular front....

But, the back had some very underlying writing on it you can barely see. To my surprise, it was a Member Only parallel to Cut Backs. Super Sweet!
So I began my research on the card. I knew that the base set had Members Only parallels that were produced to only 750 sets, but what about an insert and what were the odds on this? After a bit of searching, my research came up empty. So I can only assume only 750 of this card exist as well and it's not one I have ever seen in my Hampton searches.
Thoughts on today's unique addition is welcomed in comments.

REVIEW:2017 Bowman High Tek Baseball

The High Tek or Topps Tek name isn't new to the Topps family, but it is new to the Bowman one. Introducing in 2017, Bowman High Tek.

This prospect loaded product is exactly what you expect from Bowman plus more. How did my inaugural break of the product go, well, let's take a look!

Each 10-card box of 2017 Bowman High Tek Baseball will include, 4 On-Card Autograph Cards
and 1 Base Parallel Card. Boxes run around $110.

Each 12 box case will guarantee a 1992 Bowman Variation Insert Card.

The 2017 Bowman High Tek Baseball base cards are printed on acetate with a touch of foil that brings out a nice design. The base cards will also make you scratch your head some as there are multiple, 11 about, pattern variations that takes the background and changes it up. It also gives each background design a level of rarity.

The base set itself is only 56 cards. However, with 10 to 11 variations to each, it makes it much, much deeper and really is one for the player collector.

The players in the base set are young stars and upcoming future stars like you would find in the Bowman Prospects. Big names like Gleyber Torres, Rhys Hoskins and Clint Frazier are among the group.
How do you know the difference and the levels of rarity, your guess is as good as mine.

But, from my research from multiple sites, here is the order mine are in.

Gears. Seems to be the base. Moniak was a nice find.

Pin Wheel, another base card version.

Stripes and Arrows is a tad tougher.

Hexagon is about the same toughness.

Unlike figuring out base cards, parallels are much easier to spot and luckily exclusive to one or two patterns and not them all. Parallels include the following, Green Rainbow /99, Gold Rainbow /50 (the one I pulled), Orange Magma Diffractor /25, Red Orbit Diffractor, Mojo Diffractor /5, Black Rainbow 1/1, and Black Galactic Diffractor 1/1.

Nice Devers right here. You can note how the gears and foil are gold.

I didn't pull any of the tough to find inserts, so let's take a look at the on-card autographs that have a checklist of 43 cards.  It doesn't appear the autographs have different versions. That would have been way too much.

My first was AJ Puk.

Second was Bo Bichette. Possibly the best pull of the box unless I can get some values on the Devers.

Patrick Weigel

And a gold parallel from the World Series champs, Forrest Whitley.

There are other autograph parallels to find of, Tidal Diffractor /199, Green Rainbow /99, Orange Magma Diffractor /25, Red Orbit Diffractor /5, Black Galactic Diffractor 1/1, and Black Rainbow 1/1.
Other hits not found in my box are,
2017 Bowman Rookies that has 10 cards, 2017 Bowman Rookies Autographs, 1992 Bowman Variations, 1992 Bowman Variations Autographs, Bashers Set, Bashers Autographs, and Foundations of the Franchise Die-Cut .

OVERALL, I am glad that Topps stuck to what the brand was known for in the late 90's and since the Topps version has been back in 2014 with it's multiple base card levels. It can be a bit confusing and hopefully there will be some detailed visuals for guidance on how to tell the difference in rarities but I like it. I would definitely say it's not one for the kids. I remember busting packs in the 90's and I didn't have a clue about the difference.

The autographs look pretty nice on the acetate and I think the checklist is pretty solid overall for autograph finds. The box price isn't too shabby for a prospecting product and there is definitely plenty to find.

This product is for the prospectors and for the player rainbow collectors that's for sure.

You can find the complete checklist for 2017 Bowman High Tek, HERE.

Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review as they help provide prizes for me to giveaway in the MLB Pick Em Promotion! This was the last product to be included in the prize package so new promos coming up! Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well
