Psych Bio's

Well, today marks the final day of my Psych insert needs with wardrobe needs being posted tomorrow.

This also marks the first post with my only insert set from the product. That is the Psych Bio's. I own all 6 of them.

However, I do not have the set of these.
At first you are thinking, aren't those the bios? And I will say yes, but they are not the same. These are printed on acetate and seem to be tough pulls. It's hard to tell though. I have no information on them. They are not on the Cryptozoic website, they are not on the wrappers or boxes, and not even on Cardboard Connection as they are a big mystery. I have seen some listed on eBay so hopefully the rest of my needs, 2,3,5, and 6 are all on there. I am only assuming there are 6 since there are 6 bios.

It's not very often you find an insert that's not listed anywhere for info. If you find out any for me, just let me know!

The 90's brought us many innovations. Card companies went out of their way to be the most creative and tried to outdo others, something that we lack in today's market with all of the exclusives.

They added prisms, foil, holograms and something called Litho-Cel.

Litho-Cels were two layered cards that Pacific created in 1996. The weird thing was, each pack came with cards and a litho-cel but it may not always match up. Actually, I don't think it ever did.

So these are what the base or bottom cards look like in the set. Odd huh? Wait til you see what happens to it....

Back of the card

This is what the Litho-Cels looks like. This is actually the silver parallel Litho-Cel looks like. Yes, these also had parallels you needed to chase.

When you put the Litho-Cel on top of the base card...magic happens....
You get a clear, well somewhat, colored photo. Pretty cool idea, just tough to put all together the way they organized the product. But, I guess the chase is part of the fun.
I am so glad that Jammin JD Sports Cards was able to help me land both parts in this case. Now I just need to chase the other parallels down.

Henry's Wisdom

Henry is always giving Shawn advice, does Shawn ever listen. No. But, Cryptozoic did and made an insert set based on Henry's most wise moments from Seasons 1-4.
I have 5 cards of the 9 cards in the set. My current wants are, 2,3,4, and 7.

2017 Panini Player Of The Day CONTEST Main Promo

Welcome! Sport Card Collectors blog is once again proud to be hosting the Player Of The Day Contest. This contest has prizes provided by Panini America to award you guys, the readers.

As for me, this is no longer a blogger competition as I am the only lucky blogger to be doing this and I don't get anything for hosting this except the rewarding factor of knowing I am helping the hobby, LCS' and spreading #HobbyLove.

Today, I received the prizes I will be shipping out-there may be a slight delay in shipping with so much to pay to ship out-and I will be posting contests as we go along. Some of the contests are easy as can be and then others are a bit more challenging like today's main promo.

Griffey Takes A Cheap Seat

About a year ago, Night Owl Cards posted a Mike Piazza Cheap Seat card I thought was the bomb and for months I searched eBay looking for a cheap Griffey version that I needed for my PC.

Finally, I found one and bid on it.$12 was the final cost which I didn't think was a bad pull for the card.
The card folds out into a seat and fell 1:24 packs then. My hobby OCD wouldn't allow me to crease the card that I invested in so try to use your imagination and picture what it appears as if I had folded it out.

Psych Undercover Part 2

Yesterday I showed off Psych Undercover insert for Seasons 5-8, today, is the much more dulled down Seasons 1-4 version.

Once again, it's showing off Shawn and Gus' and gangs crazy ideas of being undercover.
There are 9 cards in this set. I have 5 of them so far. My current needs are, 2,3,4, and 7.

#1:The Sweet Sig And Swing

Today is card #1 in my Top 10 countdown trade adds from my big trade with Project Pedro blog.

Today's card is an obvious number one, anytime I can add a Griffey auto to my PC I am estatic. I don't have many autographs or memorabilia cards as most of my Griffey PC is base and inserts but this one is one of my favorites.

His signature is just as sweet and just as smooth as his swing.

A big thanks goes out to Project Pedro blog on our latest trade. I look forward to our next one which is already currently in progress. If you haven't checked him out yet or given his blog a look, please do so! You are missing out if not.

Psych Undercover

I know, you know, you are loving these posts. Well, at least I hope you are.....

Today's insert is Psych Undercover. This insert set was made for both Seasons 1-4 and 5-8. They both have different designs however. Today's is from Seasons 5-8 and has rainbow foil. The theme is still the same, just different designs. We all know how many crazy undercover situations that Shawn and Gus put themselves into.

Here is what the Seasons 5-8 design looks like. I will touch base with Seasons 1-4 design tomorrow.
I currently have 3 of the 9 cards in the set. As you can see, it wasn't easy pulling inserts in these products as most only had a couple per box.
My needs are, 1,4,5,6,8, and 9.

#2:The Centerpiece Of My Aaron Judge Collection

Today is card #2 in my Top 10 countdown trade adds from my big trade with Project Pedro blog.

Today's card is the biggie in my Aaron Judge PC, my first autograph of him. I know it's Leaf and I am not normally a fan of unlicensed products, but it's a Judge auto and on-card so I will take it. It's also numbered 24/25.

I know Aaron has been the joke of the second half of the season with all of his strikeouts but I think the Homerun Derby really messed with him. His stance is off and so isn't his timing. If he can figure things out in the offseason again he should have a solid career. If not, well, I will have this card to remember what could have been.

Either way, the guy is very popular, plays for my team, has a great back story and is friendly so that alone is enough for me to collect him.

We are down to the #1 card which is coming up tomorrow!

Psychic Moments

Today's insert is from Seasons 1-4 and is named Psychic Moments.

You know, based on one of Shawn's "psychic" breakout moments. "You know that's right."
I have 4 cards out of 9 but still missing numbers 1,2,3,4, and 9.

#3: Is #3

Today is card #9 in my Top 10 countdown trade adds from my big trade with Project Pedro blog.

Today's card is my second patch addition to my Ken Griffey Jr PC. This one is from when he was number 3 for a short time. I also chose this card for number 3 because it has a #3. Other than that, 3 and 4 on this countdown are pretty interchangeable to me.

Griffey changed to number three in the 2007 season to honor his three kids.
Only 2 cards remain. What could they be...what could they be.. FIND OUT SOON!

Psych:The Musical

I have begun making updates, still many to go, on the blog and my first project was updating my Psych and Ghostbusters want lists which you can find at the top of the blog in the tabs section.

I believe I have most of my Ghostbusters insert sets and still have to check on those. But, I am missing many Psych needs. So this week I thought it would be fun to throw out there the other parts of my Psych PC and sets I am trying to build of them.

Today's insert set is Psych:The Musical.
I have three cards from the 6 card set. I believe these fell 1:24 packs in the Seasons 5-8 boxes. I busted three of the boxes so hence my three cards.
Current cards I am missing include, 1,2, and 6.
I am hoping by posting my needs on here I can get these wants filled and help my own focus in trying to accomplish doing so. Many of these cards, not my autograph needs, can be found for pretty cheap on COMC and eBay. But, with hobby funds low, accomplishing these sets will take some work still. I am however, always up for a challenge!

4:The Ultimate Patch

Today is card #4 in my Top 10 countdown trade adds from my big trade with Project Pedro blog.

Today's card is yet another Ken Griffey Jr addition and this isn't the last. There are two more in the Top 3. This has got to be one of my prettiest Griffey memorablia cards I own. This is also my first patch card of The Kid.

Try not to drool too much on your keyboard while you view this:

REVIEW:2017 Star Wars Journey To Star Wars The Last Jedi

I don't mention this on here too often, but I am a big Star Wars fan. Well, at least of the original three films or as they now call them, parts 4,5 and 6.  I did watch parts 1,2, and 3 and wasn't much of a fan of those but I have heard the newest releases are pretty solid. I just haven't had the opportunity to sit down and watch them.

What I have done however, is open up the cards still. Today marks my first hobby box break as most of my Star Wars breaks have been retail, so it should be fun to see how I do.

Let's take a look:

Each box of 2017 Star Wars Journey To Star Wars The Last Jedi you will find 24 packs of 8 cards each. You should also find one Insert or Parallel Per Pack! Hobby boxes come with
2 hits per and at least one guaranteed autograph.  Boxes run just under $80.

The second hit could be a variety of this:
  • Sketch Cards
  • Plastic Emblem Cards
  • 1-of-1 Printing Plates
The base cards are printed with the 1977 Blue Starfield design on 24pt stock. It's not high gloss cards and has that vintage feel to them. There are 110 cards in the base set that takes you on a journey across the Star Wars saga even with a slight sneak peek at Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The base set also has cards from the cartoon series as well.

Some backs of cards turn into a really cool puzzle. Here is what I built of the two.

As with all products today, there are parallels to chase as well.

Green Starfield falls 1 per pack

Black Starfield falls 1:2 packs. This one looks the sharpest in my opinion.

Silver Starfield falls 1:4 packs

White Starfield are numbered to 199

And the toughest one I pulled was Orange Starfield that's numbered to 50

Other parallels not found in my box include,
  • - Gold Starfield #'d to 25
  • - Imperial Red #d 1 of 1
  • - Printing Plates #d 1 of 1
There are 5 Insert Sets to Collect and the first cards in the new Rey Continuity Program which will carry on in future Topps Star Wars releases.

Darkness Rises which I got the whole set of

Illustrated Cards

Rey Continuity Program which look really cool

Character Cards have one of my favorite designs in the product.

Character Stickers which look awesome! This would be a fun set to collect!

Now onto the hits.

My first find was this pretty slick manu-patch. Sorry, it's not space worn.

Autographs from over 30 actors and characters with special focus. They look really nice despite the stickers.

Autograph parallels include:
  • Purple #'d to 99
  • Orange #'d to 25
  • Gold #'d to 10
  • Imperial Red #d to 1 of 1
  • Autographed Printing Plates #d to 1 of 1
You can also find rare Dual and Triple Autographs and a really cool and really rare 6-Person Autographs.

Other hits that weren't pulled in my box include,
Sketch Cards and Plastic Emblem Cards that have parallels Orange #'d to 99,  Gold #'d to 25
and Imperial Red #d 1 of 1.

OVERALL, not a bad break. I would definitely say this is a product for set collectors with so many base cards in a break, but it would be a fun-easy one to build. I think building the parallels would be fun. I will also say it's a risk product as well with the cost vs what you may pull. But, with only 30 on the autograph checklist, that narrows it down some. You have a 1:30 chance of landing a top signer.

Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review and to be able to add cards to the MLB Pick Em promotion.  Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well.
