Rodney's Cardboard:1997 Score Hobby Reserve Collection Starburst

I know I said a couple of weeks ago that it was the end of the road for Rodney's Cardboard, but recently, my trade with Shane came up with another new one.

And it's a rare one.

It's been told that these Score Hobby Reserve Collection football cards were an unregistered set through Pinnacle and extremely rare. The few that came out were test sets from the Pinnacle and rarely available to the public. I could own possibly the only Rodney Hampton version of this card out there. I know I haven't seen any other ones.
The card features a silver foil front and a starburst background

Back of the card is just a regular card with the words Reserve Collection watermarked on the back.

This was awesome of Shane to help me grab this one. Will probably never find another one like it.

More From The Shane Box

Before I start today's post, I will begin with a Happy Birthday to my mom who turns...well...older today. I know she won't read this as I have told the story many times of her dislike of card collecting, but overall, she's my mom.

So the next part of my mail day I am showing off from Shane is a small section of cards I found included in a white box that was within the big Priority box that caught my attention.

First up, a Colin Powell rookie card. I never knew this existed but it's pretty cool.

1971 Flashbacks. I had no idea that Starbucks has been around this long. It makes me feel sheltered in my childhood.

I think I have a couple of these, but I love the First Pitch cards. It was a great lineup for Topps for a few years. Though I think they should have kept the design the same for all of them so it could have been one continuing series with the product.

It's good to see a company get creative like this. Which is why I enjoyed Opening Day when they included foods at ballparks and other fun parts of baseball we don't always think about finding as a card.

The final card I am showing off is a teaser to a lineup of 90's football inserts I will be showing off I got in this trade as well. This one here combines two great QB's who liked to both throw and take off on the ground.

Much more to come from this mail day as I am stretching it out to fill in some days on here. As I said a few days ago, I don't have much incoming so the further I can stretch each mail day, the more posts I can get in on here to continue the blog.

Shane Sends Another Box

The title says it all. Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday blog once again sent me a box of goodies to complete our latest trade. This box was packed tight from top to bottom with so much goodness, I can't even post it all.

So for today, I will just pass along a teaser of what I found. Some of the contents will be posted over at Cards Over Coffee, so once again, GO...........FOLLOW..........THAT.........BLOG.

Here is a box teaser. As I stated, it was packed full with a few unopened boxes, basketball, baseball, football and non sport cards. Shane hits all of the PC areas.

Just for starters, I will grab a few cards off of the top to show off. I have always liked these Materialistic cards. I wished they had been made into a base set.

Here's another oversized card. This one of Dan The Man.

And the final card isn't oversized, but was on top. This is one of MANY basketball inserts Shane passed along. You will have to wait to see the rest another day both on here and Cards Over (FOLLOW THAT BLOG) Coffee.

I will have more from this mail day in the coming days. Hope you come back to check it out. Speaking of checking things out, go check out Cards Over Coffee but also check out Shane's Cheap Wax Wednesday posts featured on

A Gem Mint Of A Trade Mail Day

I recently discovered a pile of valuable soccer cards in my collection I didn't even know I had until I saw that the sport has been trending hot in the hobby. So I checked in with a few guys, mainly @CardpocalypseNC about who I should be looking for and he told me.

So I sent him some pics on what I had of those players and he claimed a few to trade for but it still left me with some really big ones to trade off. Only one way to get rid of those, off to Twitter!

It took me a few days to receive any interest, one guy was interested but didn't have anything I really wanted, but the second guy, being a fellow blogger had a few things I wanted so I jumped on in a deal.

So for the second time, The Bucs Stop Here and I made a trade, a much bigger trade this time around.

It was also a very fast one.
My new PC Patrick Mahomes took off with a few newbies. I think I would had traded for these regardless of player. These pinks rock.

Another Mahomes pink here. This time the base card version.

Then came a base and insert of Mahomes from 2019 Prestige.

I moved on to Florial of the Yankees for my rookie PC. I might have possibly been able to land an autograph of his in a deal with the first guy, but weighing my options I don't like to take a shot at "possibilities" of players. I prefer set in stone players.

Patrick Ewing, Knicks or not, I really liked Panini's Crusades. Send em my way!

My the middle of the street. Our house, my house, or RJ Barretts house. It's all good. This is a new card for my Barrett PC.

And the big centerpiece of the mail day, a PSA 10 Gleyber Torres Update Rookie. I have been a fan and collector of Gleyber since he came to the Yankees. Just hoping he continues to play like he has and maybe hits those Trout type popularity with a card like this. It's all about Topps Update in baseball as the key rookies. I now have three Gleybers but this one by far is the best.

I was a little hesitant at first to trade for the Update Gleyber because I already had two other Update Gleybers and had hoped for a Hall Of Fame autograph or two or a nice non sport auto for my PC I needed with the soccer cards, but I went with the deal anyways just because I like Gleyber.

Thanks to The Bucs Stop Here for another great trade. I hope we can do this again down the road as I am sure I have other Pirates kicking around that need to make a your house...not here.

If you haven't made a trade with him, go do so. Fair as they come to trading and ships fast!

Surprises Shep'd To Me

It was an ordinary day in the neighborhood. The sun was in full force. The heat was making me sweat while the slight breeze was trying it's best to help.

I was walking my to the mail box, usually empty of packages in the past month, but this time had an envelope from an address I didn't recognize. Or did I? I swore I had seen that address before but who was it? And who sent me something I wasn't expecting. Was it the heat getting to me? Was I seeing things?

As soon as I walked back to my house carrying the one envelope in my mail box, feeling like I was going to melt, I figured out who it was. It was @BigShep79 and I bet he sent me more Rodney's.

For the first time I was right. Don't tell my wife I was right for once.

Even though none of these Rodney's were new to me, I actually have been hoarding all of my dupes as well. Guess that what makes me a Super Collector. At this point in my Rodney collecting, it's really hard to send me any new without checking my checklist ahead of time.

Let's check em out:

This last one will go apart of my 100 Score rookie project. Closing in on 60 of them.

Thanks to @BigShep79 for the mail day. Always appreciate surprise Rodney's in the mail box.

Pancakes and Ruebens

Man, I have no idea why these surprises keep popping up in my mail box, but once again, I was tossed a pancake by the Pancake King, Wes.

This time it was a Rueben Randle Turn Of The Century parallel.
Beautiful green shine to this one.

I also didn't have this one which is surprising for a guy who has over 150 of his cards. I wonder if I should turn into a Randle Super Collector after Hampton...maybe not.

One thing I have realized is newer players are not as easy as to collect with so many 1/1's,autographs, patch and jersey cards, manu relics, etc.

Thanks again Wes for the mail day!

Bumped And Run Into Kerry

Trevor over at Bump and Run Football Cards Blog surprised me not too long ago with a mail day. I wasn't expecting a single thing to come from him and then this bigger sized envelope arrived out of the blue.

Of course I was pretty stoked to see something in the mail box recently that wasn't bills so I tore it open. Inside was a manila folder that had a ever important sticky note and this......

1997 Donruss Studio 8x10 Of Kerry Collins

Back side. He made a note that the card wasn't in the best condition since it was in a free bin at his LCS, but hey, it's a card and I could at the very least use it for display on my desk. Once I find it.

That sticky note, well, that was a huge part of the mail day. It was Trevor's new address so I can finally pass along a thank you or thank you's for many previous mail days.

Thanks for the surprise mail day Trevor!

Autograph Of The Week:Eliza Dushku

Eliza is not only stunning, but she played on some shows and movies I watched with my wife over the years.

The first thing I saw her in was Bring It On. Cheerleaders plus Eliza....

Okay, focus.

She also starred on a great TV series on Fox called Tru Calling which is where I saw her the most. She played Tru Davies who could talk to the dead and save them by re-living her day and preventing that persons death through a variety of clues. The show ended long before it should have after two seasons.

The show also starred Zach Galifianakis and Jason Priestley.

The show also had a great theme song. Go ahead, look it up!

I made an offer to the seller and he accepted almost immediately. I wished I had offered less in that case. Eliza's autographs are really hard to come by and you don't see too many out there listed.

Upon looking her up to see what else she played on, I had no idea she was on Buffy, Angel or True Lies. I do remember her in Wrong Turn.

This autograph will also mark the final one in this series as I don't have anymore incoming but it sure was a lot of fun posting these!
