REVIEW:2017-2018 Panini Status Basketball (CONTEST!!)

The red hot rookie class has helped carry a lot of basketball products this season and bring out some new ones along the way. One of these new ones is Status basketball. I wasn't too familiar with the product originally, but upon doing some research, the product caught my attention. It also may have been one under the radar til now.

So let's see how a break of it goes, shall we?

In each box of 2017-18 Panini Status Basketball there is. 10 packs with 6 cards per pack. Each box has one autograph and a fairly reasonable, for this rookie class, price point of $60 per box

The base set is 150 cards with 100 veterans and 50 rookies. The base cards have a weird but attractive colorful shapes background with lots of sparkly shine. Not a design I have seen used before.

The rookies are designed the same way except they have the rookie symbol. My box was a little weak on the big name rookie front but with 50 to chase and only roughly one per pack, it won't be always easy to land the big names.

There are parallels to the base set as well for both veterans and rookies. You can define the insert y the bottom right corner of the card. These include Aqua, Foundations, Orange, Pursuit, Red /299, Blue /199, Purple /149, Green /75, Gold /10, Kaleido 1/1. My best find was the Kuzma Green.

The inserts for the product stay true to it's shapely fun shiny design. Each of the inserts also have parallels of Red /299, Blue /199, Purple /149, and Gold /10.

Status Quo was my favorite designed insert of the group. I love the shooting player in the forefront and player layered in the background.

Rookie Credentials has all of the top rookies from the class

Symbols takes players from the past and the present and puts them in the spotlight.

Factions takes a trio from each team that stands out the most.

Now onto the one promised autograph pull.

I pulled a Freshman Signatures of Derrick White of the Spurs. He was drafted by the Spurs in the first round and currently he is in the D-league.

Other hits and pulls I didn't find in my box but you might are, Base Aspirations / Status Parallels, Draft Night Autographs, Inscriptions, Draft Night Hat Relics, Elite Signatures, Elite Signatures Pink Parallel, Swatches Relics, Legendary Signatures, Materials and New Breed Autographs

OVERALL: I like the design of the product as a whole. The base, inserts and hit alllooked nice. There are some big hits to be found and the price point isn't too shabby. I believe this product is also available to those in retail to buy so availability is great as well. If you collect NBA, I can't see why you wouldn't take a gamble here.

My hit wasn't the best, but there is solid mixture of veterans, legends and rookies to find. You can view the checklist for 2017-2018 Panini Status basketball right HERE.
