Rodney's Cardboard:2023 Certified Pink Autograph /75

When I found out that 2023 Certified football included Rodney autographs this year, which eBay notified me about, I immediately started my chase. But the first few Rodney's were way overpriced like most cards are when they first release.

I wasn't going to overpay for Rodney even being a Super Collector.

Prices have since dropped and so haven't more Rodney's and I have been able to add a few....quite a few.

Today's Certified Rodney is the pink parallel which is numbered to 75.
Oooooo shiny.

Back of card, pretty basic Panini stuff with nothing but a copy of the front of the card and an autograph guarantee.

Here is an overall look at the chase in 2023 Certified for Rodney,
Base /199, Bronze /99, Pink /75, Orange /50, Red /35, Blue /30, Teal /25, Gold /15, Purple /10, Green /5, and Black 1/1.

Which isn't too terrible comparing it to other products that include a lot of parallels.

There will be more updates to come from this chase. I can say though, the 1/1 has not popped up yet and I keep waiting for it to.

Throwpack Thursday:1995 Fleer Ultra Baseball Series 2

It's time I finally get this new segment underway. It's one I have been planning on doing for a while and hope to do as often as I can.

Throwpack Thursday is where I will take an older pack of cards from a variety of sports and some non-sports and open it up on here, talk about the "hits" and a few of the players.

Take note how I called it an "older" pack of cards instead of vintage. I refuse to call anything from the 80's and 90's vintage. It drives me nuts for those who do! I am not vintage either!

Today's pack comes from one of my favorite brands from the 90's, Fleer Ultra. But, it wasn't until 1995 where I really started to appreciate what the brand brought to the table.

I don't think I opened more than a couple of packs of the 1995 baseball as opposed to the many, many football packs I ripped. Today's pack will be a nice reminder to me on what it looked like.

First some details on today's pack.
1995 Fleer Ultra Series 2 had 12 cards per pack. Each pack comes with one Gold Medallion and one Insert.

Now onto the rip.

One thing that jumps out to me as I see the first card is a clean design. Very basic, full photography. Not bad.
The first card in the packs reveals us the Gold Medallion parallel. It isn't quite as exciting as the football version that is completely covered in gold. At least it was a player I knew. Harold had multiple stints with the White Sox, won a World Series and was a 6x All-Star.

"Rookie" of Ismael Valdes. It's hard to tell baseball's true rookies. Ismael played for eight teams including two stints with the Dodgers. Was one game under .500 for his pitching career.

All-Rookie insert fall 1:5 packs overall. One of the easier inserts to pull. John played six seasons and was an All-Star in 1994.

Second "rookie card" in the pack. Jeff Cirillo played for more than 10 years and was a two-time all-star. Very underrated player and hobby guy.

And we finish the pack with Cliff Floyd sporting the Expos colors. I remember him most when he played for the Marlins.

There wasn't anything too exciting in this pack. I will probably use most of the cards except the All-Rookie insert for trade bait. That All-Rookie goes into my 90's insert PC.

I hope you enjoyed today's introduction into this new segment. There is more to come.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

The Grady Boxes: Box 5

A few times a year, blog reader and good friend Grady M (@gradyfishinsea), sends me a box full of goodies. He has been doing this for many years since we met on my Facebook page.

These boxes usually consist of my four New York teams, some player collections and so much shiny that I have no other choice but to smile.

I never know what is arriving and what surprises hide within until it arrives. But I do know that it will be fun.

So, when Grady sent me a Christmas box round of cards, I had a hard time waiting until Christmas to open it, but I did.

Inside of the big box it came in, were multiple empty blaster boxes full of treasure.

I thought to myself, how does one post so many cards on a blog without spamming it completely. After much thought, I sat down and decided I would show off some, yes some, of my favorites from each blaster box.

Let's take a peek of what was inside of this 2023 Topps Allen And Ginter blaster

I kept asking and begging people to trade me the Halloween parallels from this year's Topps Update, but nobody would.  Fortunately, I found some in my Grady box.
(looks like Rod Beck to me)

These are cool, but my favorite ones are the pumpkins, ghosts, cats, etc. If you have any of those from any player, I am interested in trading for them!!

More playing cards! Think I have five of them now for my set chase.

And two new Lamar Jacksons for that side PC. Always excited to add shiny ones.

Well, that does it for the final box in this series.

A big thanks goes out to Grady for his continued generosity to my collection.

DiMaggio has done a ton of voices in a ton of cartoons.

Very cool Deonte Banks blue parallel from Elite.

Gehrig Prism. Spectacular card.

I want a Turkey Club really bad right now!

Still want/need the Griffey version of this.

Jimmie was the Tom Brady of NASCAR at one point.

Super shiny green parallel from the Merlin product. I don't know the player, but still cool.

My boy Mahomes! I will take all Patrick cards I don't have.

And another new Junior!

Well, that does it for Box #4. There is only one more box left to show off!

I don't know who Hernandez is or what this parallel is called, but it's super cool.

Well designed soccer card, I don't know the player, but like the look.

This year's MVP in my opinion, he is also a side PC. I like players who are fun to watch.

Two new Juniors!

I don't know what these are called, but I want to chase the set!! Definetely at the very least want the Griffey one! Have any? Drop me an email at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com or comment below!

Donruss Elite had some beautiful parallels this year, but none more stunning than this blue one.

I didn't open any Big League, but it looks like it was a cool product. These Judges may be my favorite ones now.

Well, that does it for Box #3. This series is coming to an end soon, stay tuned for the next box!

We kick it off with a new Junior.
My lack of buying in 2023 left a lot of empty spots in my collection, this Griffey fills in one.

Same goes for this Dexter Lawrence, Mosaic parallels are underrated.

Thunder and Lightning. Zenith has some pretty nice inserts, we don't have products that focus on inserts anymore.

This is a shiny parallel, was hard to capture it.

I didn't open any Big League, but it looks like it was a cool product. These Judges may be my favorite ones now.

Well, that does it for Box #2. There are more to come from this series and some boxes I show off more cards than this.
