A Rough Blog January

 I don't know about the rest of the bloggers, but January was an awful month in views, comments and lost followers on here. Probably one of the worst months in the history of this blog.

It's not like I missed a day off or haven't posted something about cards every day, I know in the past some toy posts really didn't view well, it is just weird and not something I hope continues as the blog moves closer to its 10-year anniversary on March 1st.

Just like in life, I always have a bright outlook and hope that it improves.

While I am also just doing a short plain post for today, I am going to toss out Cards Over Coffee again. I am still working on building that following as well. Will do a contest once that blog hits 100 followers. Right now there are 41, so a ways to go.

The Grady Chronicles: NASCAHHHH

The latest Grady box installment brings me to NASCAR. I definitely don't watch the sport anymore and don't know many of the names like I used to when I was a big fan pre-2005, but I still collect the cards.

Especially the shiny stuff and there was plenty of that to be found in this mail day.

 

These Titan cards I have always like from Panini. Not sure why Panini never made this a product. The design is out of this world!

Another Grady mail day show off is done, still a few more to go in this series. As I stated from the beginning, this mail day was stacked.

The Grady Chronicles: No Judging

A couple of months ago, I finally decided that it was time to move on from my Aaron Judge PC and did so by trading all but five cards away.

Fast forward to today, I sometimes question why I did so.

I started collecting Judge back in 2017 when he came out of nowhere and I grew a 200 card PC or so with 4 autographs as well. But, decided it was time to move on as my interest in baseball cards has become less and less.

But, my recent mail day from blog reader Grady M, has sparked my interest again.....some.

And a nice mix of base and inserts.

I also found other Judges in the boxes but for some reason, my photos didn't upload. I hate when that happens.

I am not sure how long my interest in Judge will last for, but for now it's there and I am looking to rebuild my PC.

The Grady Chronicles:Mosaic Baseball

I kinda dug Mosaic Soccer, NFL and NBA and am happy to see the baseball version out. Notice that I didn't put MLB on it.

Yes, I know and have heard it over and over, Panini doesn't have MLB logos and yes I will preach it back, not all of their products are bad because the logos are missing. You have to push through the logoless cards and look at the cards. LOOK AT THEM!!

These look soooooooooooooooo cool.

It really doesn't matter what color they come in. Which looking at pink always makes me think about Collecting Cutch.

Orange doesn't look too bad either.

Do you notice logos on this Ichiro or do you see a work of art...I thought so.

 

And more shininess which is distracting for your eyes not to notice the logos missing. At least for me.

My latest mail day from Oren arrived a while ago, but I am just getting to posting it. That's how far buried I am in posts on here as we creep towards February where I am hoping to finally get caught up.

I used to love watching the show but don't remember anything about it other than He-Man and Skeletor. Which I will also toss out there if any of you have the Battle Damage He-Man or Skeletor, I would trade cards for those.

Every Morning

Sorry for my terrible lyric rewrite. I tried...that's all that matters right? Maybe today's autograph subject can give me some tips since it was his song I was attempting.

In the late 90's, there was a group named Sugar Ray that came out with some catchy tunes such as Fly, Every Morning and Some Day. These were songs you would hear consistently on the radio and had no problem with hearing them as often as you did. At least in my case. I remember sitting in my room with the small radio listening and waiting for the songs to come on so I could time it right and record it on a cassette tape. Those times were rough and made it even more frustrating when the DJ would start talking at the end of the song.

It took a while, but I finally managed to get those three songs recorded. It may had been easier to had bought the CD at that point. Which I did later on.

When I saw that Mark McGrath, the lead singer, had an autograph in the Leaf Pop Century, I wanted to add it to my nostalgic 90's collection which brought back today's memory. So fortunately, I was lucky enough to land a copy.

As you can tell with all of my music adds, they have been done in the Pro Set Super Stars design. I really like the look of the design as its throwback as well.

My wife and I actually saw Sugar Ray in concert in 2003 who was there alongside Michelle Branch. My wife also a fan of their music and may have been like most girls and had a small crush on Mark. One thing I will say about their concert is that they put on a great one. If you haven't seen them yet, go check them out as they are still touring.

I must also note before finishing up today's post, Mark is also a great person with his fans. On Twitter, he actually responds to you which is where I found out he is also a fellow NY Giants fan. I hope he sees today's post and maybe even gives me a RT for other fans to see.

There was a time I used to actually watch wrestling, that was more in the late 90's early 2000's when my friend was a die-hard. He knew all of the moves and all of the songs and would do each one every time.

As we grew apart, so didn't my watching of wrestling.

But, just like some other sports and even TV shows, I still collect it. Especially when it's chromed and shiny.

So, today's latest part of the Grady Chronicles is wrestling.

Burbank Pickups Of The Month Part 2: Sets!

Burbank has been a huge help with my set chasing, especially 90's.

But, it as also helped me with a newer set as well.

My chase for the 2011 Topps American Pie base set continues. I have gotten really far, but still missing some important pieces such as the Kurt Cobain card. I now have every card that Burbank has to offer for my set help for this one, I will have to look elsewhere for more help on completing this.

Burbank Pickups Of The Month Part 1:Found Some Way

My Charles Way collection continues to build and I am building my foundation through base cards I find at Burbank Sport Cards.

Here's a group I tackled first. Both red Prestige are parallels technically.

A few base, a couple red parallels and a low end inserts makes up this group.

  

And my final card, though it may look like a special parallel, is just a checklist. A checklist!! How can a card that looks this great just be a checklist. May be the greatest looking checklist card I have seen.

The Gifts Flew In

 It's almost five days short of being Christmas a month ago. A MONTH AGO. I can't believe how fast January has gone but I am not complaining. It feels to be the longest month...and coldest one. I am ready to move on.

I received many mail days in or around Christmas and held them until Christmas to open. A couple of those mail days were actually gifts and one of those I am posting today. 

This was my mail day Christmas gift from blog reader Oren.

 

Two unopened packs of 1996 Fleer Ultra Sensations opens up this mail day. I did open one pack and did keep one sealed...for now. The results from the one or both will be posted at a later date.

Santa cards, all are new! Love the shiny one.
