Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Topps Inception Green

(Previously posted on Big Blue Cardboard. All Rodney's Cardboard posts from here on out will be cross-posted)

It's Sunday which means it's time for a new Rodney's Cardboard!!

This week I am showing off my first Topps Inception add from that chase.

In Topps Inception, Rodney has a base card and some parallels. Overall, only 11 to chase as opposed to Topps Chrome which now I think has about 40-something. Seems every time I check, one hits eBay that I didn't have on my checklist. It's a weird ever-growing quest.

So far, Topps has done good with its photo selection of Rodney on all of its releases avoiding the missing logo. I am really digging the Inception design this year as I think the card really pops.

There will be a couple more posts from this chase coming up along with Topps Chrome and Finest and a rarity from the 90's.

Happy Sunday!

Trending This Week In My Hobby Week 6

This segment hasn't been posted in almost two years, so a lot has changed since then. In order to continue where I left off, I will post this as Week 6.

To remind you about what this segment is about, since I collect so much, there is always a main focus I have on a weekly basis. Sometimes these focuses go on for weeks and sometimes they are short lived. These posts will help guide you in what I am seeking for weekly.

Especially for those of you who are currently trading with me.

This was the Top 10 list back in Week 5 which was late 2023,
  1. 2022 Upper Deck Marvel Allure Parallels, Autographs
  2. Non Sport Cards
  3. NY Giants (especially 2023 class)
  4. 90's Inserts
  5. Guardians Of The Galaxy Relic Cards
  6. Missing Prizm Rookie Cards
  7. Marvel Relic/Autograph Cards
  8. Set Completing
  9. Eli Manning Cards
  10. Kerry Collins Cards
Here are the Top 10 most sought after for me right now in order and if they have risen or fallen since the previous week.
  1. Rodney Hampton Cards ꜛꜛꜛ
  2. Eli Manning Cards ⭣⭣⭣⭣
  3. Non-Sport Cards
  4. NY Giants (especially 2024/2025 class)
  5. 90's Inserts
  6. Leaf Pop Century Autographs ꜛꜛꜛ
  7. Jaxson Dart
  8. Ken Griffey Jr Cards
  9. Caitlin Clark Cards
  10. Malik Nabers Cards
A lot has changed since the last post, mostly moving on from Marvel cards. Not that I wouldn't welcome some new relics and autographs of them. But, as I said, this post is always going to have updates up and down across what mood I am in.

I am certain some of these will move up and down before next week and maybe even off the list. Time will tell.

In comments today, tell me what is trending in your collecting and what you are seeking the most this week.

Going Back To My Roots

13 years. 10 consecutive years of not missing one post. 6,280 total posts (once this one is published), three name changes. Loss of posts a few times but brought them back (barely). Almost retired twice. Close to 3 million views.

Sport Card Collectors has stood the test of time.

But it's been hard to blog on here full time anymore once my streak of daily posts ended and once I started to have two other spinoff blogs, but energy had shifted elsewhere.

Which is disappointing since my roots to everything I have accomplished in the hobby over the past 13 years was because of this blog.

This blog gave me my place in the hobby. It brought me friends, sponsors (at one time), given me plenty of writing opportunities on other websites, helped fill set needs, helped me give back to the hobby, and brought me joy with sharing my mail days, opinions and having some fun.

I guess by now you know where this post is going.

In May, I am hoping to give this blog another go around and give the readers back what I used to post on here but improved.

Get ready for those Sundays with Rodney Hampton. Maybe a few of those Caption This Cards. Mail day shares. My humor (you better laugh), having Sets (my favorite play on words), and who knows what else. But you will find it all in one place and not across three.

Get ready for the new-improved-revived Sport Card Collectors.

BLOG CROSSOVER EVENT 1: Million Dollar Idea

I watch more TV than I should, but it keeps me centered in my life.

I watch it while I blog, while I sort cards, while I do house chores or simply when I have a few minutes of downtime.

One of my favorite things to watch is when shows do crossover episodes. These kinds of episodes occur when they are trying to either get the word out on the new shows or trying to keep them from continuing to falter. since they can't match the original.

For example, there are multiple NCIS shows and sometimes they will crossover three of them into one extended episode starting with the key show because that first show had always carried the weight. Now it's time to help NCIS Sydney and NCIS Hawaii.

I thought, hey, I run three blogs with two that are kind of struggling, why not do a blog crossover event? It's something that no blogger has done before...at least I don't think it's been done so that would be a fun creative idea as well.

So, here is how this will work. I am showing off my latest mail day from Reader Oren. I will post some of the mail day here, move onto Cards Over Coffee for Part 2 before finishing it up at Big Blue Cardboard for Part 3.

In order for you to see the full mail day you will have to read all three blogs on three different days.

Hopefully this will also influence you to follow/subscribe/add them to your blogroll while you are at it :)

First, let's see how this one goes while we examine my latest mail day from Oren.

In the Sport Card Collectors part of the mail day, I am showing off the 1997 Fleer Million Dollar Moments cards. These cards fell 1 in every pack and were spread across multiple products from 1997 and early 1998 and sports. Each sport had 50 cards to chase, and each offered a chance to win a Million Dollars.

In order to win the Million, you must complete the 50-card set. Sounds easy, but it wasn't Cards 46-50 were all short printed with one of the cards rumored to only have one copy. Meaning, it's a 1/1.

I didn't find that particular card in this lot from Oren, but here are the ones I did find,

As far as anyone knows, there wasn't a one-million-dollar winner announced for any of the sports. I would assume that tough to find 1/1 card is still out there. Maybe a collector even has it and doesn't know it. Maybe some collectors thought these were trash and tossed them. Guess we will never know.

All I know is that we don't offer this kind of fun chases anymore.

I wished.

More to come in this mail day. But you will have to read Cards Over Coffee tomorrow to see what else Oren included in this mail day.

Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Finest Autograph

2024 Topps Finest football hasn't been on the market long, but one day when checking in on my Rodney Hampton eBay searches, I saw someone had listed a player break for him and then I had to check for myself.

And guess what, he was there and is in there for autographs.

12 autographs to be exact.

I don't have a lot to this chase yet as my main focus has been chrome, but at a snails pace I know I will get to where I need to be at some point.

Thanks for checking in on another Rodney's Cardboard. Right now, I don't have any more incoming, but when I do, I will be sure to share them!

2024 Rookies And Stars Football Blaster Box

I assume by now you are probably really sick of seeing breaks, don't worry, they are coming to an end for now.

I don't have anything else planned to open anytime soon.

So, we finish this up with a blaster box of 2024 Rookies and Stars.

I am not sure if this one will have the Jayden luck of the other two boxes, but we are about to find out!

My first NY Giants card from Rookies and Stars.

A few Red parallels,

(gag)

And then a cool numbered one! Wished it was Daniels or even Caleb Williams,
But, still a Top 10 pick.

Then came the inserts,

(need the Nabers like this still)

Cool parallel, just not the player I hoped for

I like the look of this year's Crusades. It's like Topps Chrome.....but has logos!

This guy has a little money now...

I do like the design on these.

Well, the break wasn't nearly as exciting as my first two, but I do like the Rome numbered parallel pull.

There you have it for all of my recent breaks.

Tomorrow is another day of Rodney, so hope to see you back for that. In the meantime, have a great Saturday and stay out of trouble!

When In Chrome....

When in Chrome....

Or more like when you chrome.....

it doesn't seem to matter what sport or non-sport it is; it just makes things better.

These Disney Topps Chrome cards I got free from a trade, and I really dig 'em. I may have to chase some of my favorite Disney characters.

What do you guys think of these?

2007 Topps Total Football Pack Break

Hello again!

Today marks the last pack break I have uploaded at least of the birthday gift breaks I got from Oren.

This time I am ripping a pack of 2007 Topps Total football.

Each one of these packs comes with 10 cards and a chance at a solid rookie class that included Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson.

Let's see how I did, cards are being shown off in order:

(blue parallel 1:2 packs)

And there you have it for that break.
I think one of my favorite things about this product are the cards with more than one player on it. It's the players you don't see every day like the offensive lineman. They are people too darn it!

Well, I will probably take a break from posting another break tomorrow but will finish up that last blaster box break from my trade/eBay snag with Shane the day after that.

Happy Thursday!

2009 Score Football Pack Break

Here we are with another break from my birthday packs from Oren!

Today, we take a break back to 2009 with a pack of Score football.

I took today's pictures in the order I pulled the cards, enjoy,

(rookie and a glossy parallel)

Well, there you have it. Nothing too big pulled, but a trip back in time instead.

One more break to come! I think I will post it tomorrow before finishing up my trade/eBay blaster box pickup.

1993 American Bandstand Pack Break

If you read Cards Over Coffee, you would have seen that I got a great Christmas gift from blog reader Oren and that he sent along some packs for me to rip open.

And if you don't read or follow Cards Over Coffee yet, what's wrong with you?!

Anyways, today's pack is one of those packs we are ripping open to check out.

I'm gonna be honest that I don't know a lot about this product or the singers within. I was just hoping to land one of the gold foil autogaphs.

But, I didn't.

Here is what I did find though,

The last two were the ones I knew from this group. Chubby Checker used to be one of my grandmother's favorites. I always heard her toss his name around.

I will be showing off a couple more pack results from this birthday break.

Have a great Tuesday!
