ONLY One More To Go!

For anyone who has ever chased a sport card rainbow, you know the struggle is real.

Usually the struggle is finding the lowest numbered cards.

That isn't the case in my chase for the complete 2022 Score Kenny Golladay rainbow.

I already had the 1/1. I already had the /6. I had both /10s.

But, what I didn't have, is the /99 and the /399.

You would think with as many packs as many rip now-a-days that it would be easy to find the higher numbered needs.

It's not.

Finally with some two-years of patience, one of the final two popped up.

The Electric /99 parallel looks as stunning as the name states.

And fills in the empty gap that I had nicely.

Now onto finding the last missing piece. Just hoping it doesn't take two-years like this one did.

Christmas Cards Part 1:Oren

Yes, I do realize it's January 10th and I still mentioning the word Christmas in a post.

Get used to it.

This past Christmas I got exactly what I had hoped for, many mail days coming in all at once which led to me opening up some cards on Christmas.

And none of these mail days disappointed. NONE.

They all provided so much heat, I could barely keep my hands on them.

To kick off today's First Part, I am tackling a mail day from Cards Over Coffee blog Reader Oren.

I am going to say, his box, yes box, had a HUGE MASSIVE surprise inside of it that you will have to wait and see what that was Sunday. That should give you a hint alone.

But, that didn't mean the rest of the mail day wasn't tremendous as well.

Two brand new Kadarius Toney cards for my Giants collection. I don't seek his cards now that he isn't a Giant, but I more than welcome them as long as he is wearing blue. He seems to be the weapon in the Chiefs offense the Giants were hoping he would be.

Kenny Golladay. Did you hear his name on social media somewhere this weekend? You didn't? Well, it took two seasons, but he finally caught his first touchdown as a Giant and what an incredible catch it was. You should YouTube it if you missed it.

Oren knows my passion for 90's inserts, and sent a good chunk of the Power Players insert set. For me, the shinier the better for these inserts.

New Breed relic of Ryan Nassib

Elements rookie autograph of Darius Slayton who has played well this season. Maybe will earn himself another contract with the Giants.

Other than a pretty face, Morena Baccarin played on the hit show FireFly. I never have seen it but have many friends who said the show is amazing. Maybe should be one on my list to see down the road. Despite not watching it before, this makes a great card for my non sport PC.

Speaking of non-sport PC, how cool of an addition is this to my Christmas Vacation collection? I didn't have this variation of it. I have the other two.

Also in the non sport department were two packs of cards. For some reason the Bingo The Movie packs didn't upload but the X-Men ones did. I always watched the X-Men cartoon though it never really quite caught on for me. I haven't decided when I will open this up but will be sure to post when I do. Hope to find an insert!

And the final card from this Christmas mail day...
Wooooooooooo. This is a beautiful autograph card of Kadarius Toney. Look at that patch!

And once again, I want to remind you to come back on Sunday to see the final and last mega piece to this mail day.

Thanks again to Oren who has become more than just a reader of this blog. He has become a good friend.

The Revival

I hope everyone had a Happy Holiday season! Thanks again to Gavin from Baseball Card Breakdown for this "Christmas Card".

I know my holiday season was crazy busy.

Family visited from Tennessee and Massachusetts, my wife took an almost two-week vacation, and there was just so much going on that I am glad that I had taken a break from blogging. Even though posts were on here, it was because they were pre-drafted and scheduled ahead of time.

By now I think you may have figured out what my post title is about. I am reviving this blog. It's been a long two-year vacation away from putting up real posts on here and now I am back and ready. I have learned a lot the last two years in my journey away and hope that will show in my new content on here moving forward. This is why I took so long to put a new post on here this year, yes 4 days is awhile for me, I don't plan to blog every day anymore.

Along with that, I also took some time updating the blog adding a Top 10 Want List, Who I Collect, Player Collection Links to TCDB, and completely updated my Set Needs list as well. I will continue to tweak the blog as I go.

Thanks again for being patient with me on here and hope you come back to read more.

Genesis

I must apologize right off that if you clicked this link hoping to see a post about Phil Collins songs, this isn't it. I do enjoy listening to I Can't Dance, Land Of Confusion and Hold On My Heart.

Today's post is about my first Mosaic Genesis parallel thanks to a trade with @NekBone860.

I have been wanting one of those parallels for a while as they look really sharp from what I have seen and when I saw that @NekBone860 had one from my beloved Giants, I needed it.

Luckily for me, @NekBone860 and myself have a long history of trading and quickly worked out a deal.

Along with the centerpiece of the trade, I also landed a couple more Golladays.

Swagger insert Prizm parallel

Silver Prizm base card parallel

Mosaic Mosaic base card parallel

And now onto the biggie from the trade....
GENESIS! Giants blue against the Genesis background is stunning.

Glad I finally have one of these! I have one more of these than Golladay had touchdowns last year. Let's hope for a better 2022 season for him.

Thanks to @NekBone860 for the trade and hope we can do another soon.

Thoughts on my newest addition is welcomed in comments along with your favorite Genesis song.

More 2021 Playoff Adds

This year's 2021 Playoff football product had six NY Giants in its base card set excluding the rookies. I had already found the first three in Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram but was missing the final three until today.

After opening a couple of fat packs, I was able to piece the other three together,
Lawrence Taylor who possibly is the greatest defensive player ever.

Darius Slayton who had great chemistry and played amazing his rookie year has dropped off some. Hopefully he will continue to be a Giant and pick up his game this year.

Final card I needed was the Giants big offseason add last year in Kenny Golladay. He didn't quite do what the Gmen had hoped but maybe this year with new coaches and a new look on the offense things will be different.

I am still in need of a couple rookies, all of the inserts and all of the parallels except one card. It's not easy to chase all of them as a team collector but I will chip away what I can when I can.

Thoughts on today's additions welcomed in comments.

A Mixed Bag

When Dion from Dions IP Autos Blog trade, it is usually a mixed bag of cards. There isn't usually a theme to any of them.

In our latest trade, there is a mix of a most sports and non sports.

He showed off his haul already on his blog, here is mine;

Gleyber Torres, I have cut back on collecting Yankees in general now unless it's Derek Jeter, 90's inserts or a card that really catches my eye.

NBA Rookies. Just because I like to build up my rookie card collection resume.

Same with this Kyle Lewis.

Some non sport/non baseball cards. I appreciate Allen Ginter non baseball figures more and more.

And finally, some more Kenny Golladays.

Thanks again to Dion for the trade and I am looking forward to our next trade!

Can We Win?

It's Game Day against the Washington Football Team (I really can't get used to calling them that). Even though I am not a fan of Thursday Night games, because it's too long til the next game, a game is a game. I just hope my team actually shows up this time.

The Giants opener was like watching them in the preseason, they looked flat. The offense couldn't run the ball and as always the Offensive Coordinator didn't know how to use all of the new weapons in place. The defense, which I thought would be the strength of the team, was actually more of a weakness than the offense as Teddy Bridgewater looked like Tom Brady against them. He completely picked them apart and they got multiple 4th down conversions against what was supposed to be a Top 10 defense. If the offense is flat and the defense keeps playing like this.....well......

I may not have a great team to had watched this past Sunday, but I at least had a great mail day to enjoy of the team. I recently saw @Jaescards tweet out a case break he did of Onyx football and one of the cards he pulled I wanted badly. So I inquired and a trade was born.

Of course the trade went further than just the one card, but that's a good thing.

Some new Kadarius Toneys made their way to me. So far in he -2 yards on the season. Like I said, Garrett has no idea how to utilize these weapons.

Eli Manning base from Onyx...this is just an early teaser for the bigger card.

Some bonuses he tossed in! Nothing wrong with these guys, even Evan Engram who can't seem to catch a break whether it be a ball or being on the field healthy.

Daniel Jones played well, if you forget about the key fumble on a drive deep in Broncos territory.

Here is a Prizm rookie of him as well. Hope he can work on the fumbles...more importantly I wished he would slide so he won't turn it over.

Darius Slayton started the Giants out with a 42 yard great catch, then that was basically the only highligh the offense had in the game. Slayton I still believe is a game changer if you can get the ball into his hands.

Speaking of Game Changers, Kenny Golladay made some great catches on Sunday. He was all he was hyped up to be.

Two more autograph adds to my Kenny G side collection. Hopefully Panini will put one out in his Giants uniform.

And for the key card of this trade....

BOOO YEAH! Eli Manning autograph! Anytime I can add an Eli auto I am game for it.

Thanks again to @JaesCards for the trade, hope we can do this again!

As for the Giants tonight, please show up. Please show me something. I don't want to watch another one of those long seasons.

Go Big Blue!

It's About Time

Every year, there are certain things I look forward to.

Family coming up from afar.

Summer.

My garden and flower garden.

Fall.

The first snow.

Football season.

The first football card release.

The first NFL card release.

The first football card release where new players are in their uniforms.

FINALLY, IT'S ABOUT STINKIN' TIME AS WE FINALLY HAVE GOTTEN THERE.

Here comes 2021 Prestige that puts the Giants biggest offseason acquisition into Big Blue,
Kenny Golladay finally wearing the right uniform. No more of those Lions colors. I was finally able to acquire one in a blaster box break I did.

I also added these two as well.
Jabrill Peppers

and Pro Bowl TE Evan Engram. I still don't get how he got that vote when other Giants were much more deserving and were snubbed.

I also found that Golladay is also featured in 2021 Luminance in Giants colors that I will need as well. I just hope Panini will hurry up and get Kadarius Toney in blue as well.

Do you guys like seeking new players in your teams colors like me?

Instant Impressions

We all make an impression on someone else. Sometimes those impressions can take awhile to build or be instant.

When I make a card trade with someone new on Twitter, I like to get an impression of them first before I go through with it.

First, I will check out their timeline and see what kind of stuff they tweet about. Is it political? Are they a straight up flipper? Do they have mutual followers? Have they made past trades where I can see how it went? Where they live (this helps because I don't ship outside the U.S.) and their interactions in general on the hobby. I want to make sure I feel good before I fully proceed with someone.

Sometimes, I will back out before it starts if I see something I don't feel good about. Other times they will give me a bad vibe such as not communicating in a timely manner or responding at all after requesting a trade or they will have me spend three hours digging out trade bait and end up selling the card before I have the chance to make an offer on a trade. This one just happened recently and the impression I am left by them is that I will never try a trade with them again no matter the card they are offering.

It didn't take me long to get a good instant impression from my latest new trader in @RyansTrading who posted a bunch of solid trade bait on my Tuesday Twitter trading thread. I listed a bunch of cards I was into and there a trade was born.

A big piece of the trade, literally a big piece, was this Instant Impressions real Hand Print and autograph piece by Panini above.
Even though the piece isn't NY Giants, it still fits into my unique PC.

I have always wanted one of these handprint autographs and now I can finally cross it off. However, I would love to acquire a Giants one.

The handpiece though wasn't the only piece of the trade.

I was able to add two more Kenny Golladay autographs to my collection before he jump starts his career again with the Giants this fall. This gives five autographs of his now. It's really odd to see how much his signature has changed over time especially compared to the three I have already.

Before the football season begins, I will post an overall picture of my Kenny Golladay PC.

The next card in the trade is my first Tiki Barber rookie auto and only my third autograph of his overall.

The final card in the trade was a dual autograph of Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith. Steve Smith made the biggest play in Super Bowl 42 that wasn't the helmet catch by moving the chains on a crucial third down.

and the last card is my first Victor Cruz autograph rookie card. I have other Cruz autographs, but this one marks the first rookie one.

Thanks again to @RyansTrading for the trade. You made a great impression with this trade and hopefully I did as well.
