CARDBOARD REVIEW:2019 Panini Immaculate Football

Oh boy, oh boy.

When I got my chance to review a box, well, tin of Immaculate football, I had no idea what to do. Should I touch it? Should I stare at it? Should I get some rubber gloves out like I saw other collectors do? It's a really high end product I never have seen in person with boxes or even single cards.

Instead, I had my wife open it carefully. I thought she would be the better of the two of us to do so. She also gave me some of her feedback on the cards which I will incorporate into this review.

So let's check it out.

Every box, tin, of 2019 Immaculate NFL Football collection comes with 6 cards. Five of those are hits and one is a numbered base or parallel. Boxes run.....$375-$400.....

BASE:
There are 100 cards in the base set with a nice mix of veterans and legends of the game. I like the base design, thick card with simple design on a single player focus.

There are also parallels of Emerald FOTL /20, Gold /5, Platinum 1/1.

And 40 base rookie patch autographs with all the star players and some not so much.

HITS:
Well, for the price of the box, I wouldn't say the hits were the best in this break,

Wil Grier Patch Autograph. I love the look and feel of this card. Has a plastic coating to it.

John Randle Eye Black autograph

Peyton Manning Triple Jersey Relic. My wife considered this to be the best hit of the box.

Alexancer Mattison eye black jersey auto

Kyle Rudolph name plate.

I must also note that all of the above relics are player worn. PLAYER WORN.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Me:Well,it's a tough pill to swallow if someone had bought this one box and saw the results. I have however seen many, many impressive breaks of this as well. But, with every product, there is a dud box and i found one. I suggest getting in on a box break if you can't afford a full box. I will say though, the product looks really nice.

Another nack on the product, please don't put player worn material in a product that costs this much. Rookies can be somewhat understandable, but not veterans and legends. Those guys need to be game worn.

My Wife: Didn't feel like the value was here for this box and the best hit was the Peyton. I like the looks of it and the letter card was pretty cool but really expensive for such little amount of cards as well.

Wanna use a breaker, I strongly recommend using Midwest Box Breaks for your breaking needs. They are always hitting the big pulls so if they are breaking this, you could put yourself in a good spot. They also SHIP ALL CARDS! Get what you pay for!

SAVE 10% on your next break with Midwest!! Just use code SCCBLOG to do so. Don't miss out on those big hits any longer! Code ends at the end of the year!

Please thank Panini America and Tracy Hackler for providing this box for me to review to giveaway some of the hits in a BIG CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY coming up soon!!! Please follow them on all social media sites and visit their website for all your card needs, HERE.

REVIEW:2017 Topps Baseball Series 1 (1/1 PULL!)

The first product to kick off the new season of baseball cards arrived earlier this week packed with things new and old. Sometimes literally.

How did my first baseball card break of 2017 go? Well, you will have to read on.

For some reason, my phone decided not to take a picture of the box and instead a picture of the pack uploaded. So you get the point anyways. It features World Series champion Kris Bryant who graces the cover. Boxes come packed with cards.

Each hobby box of 2017 Topps Series 1 baseball comes with 36 packs of 10 cards. There is either one autograph or one memorabilia card per box. Hobby boxes have been running around $60 each.

The checklist is 350 total cards deep showcasing superstars, young players and the hottest rookies in the game such as Yoan Moncada, Alex Bregman, Dansby Swanson, Andrew Benintendi, David Dahl, Aaron Judge, Tyler Austin, Orlando Arcia, Alex Reyes, and Tyler Glasnow.

The base set design is a little offbeat compared to past years. I have seen a lot of mixed feelings on it. To me, I wasn't sure til I saw it first hand. I like it honestly as it reminds me of graphics you would see on MLB Network or ESPN. Of course I have been one in the past that has complained about the borders year in and year out, I like the fact Topps is taking it to the future and giving it a different look.

The base set features base cards (Ortiz) and many subsets with nicknames (Thor and Dark Knight)

League Leaders, Topps All Rookie, Rookie cards

And of course World Series recaps and

Team Cards which feature some amazing photography.

Speaking of photography, here are a few other cards I enjoyed. This Naquin may be my favorite of the entire group.

I guess while we are on the base card topic, as always, there are photo variations to find. This year is drastically improved however as they are extremely tough to pull and are rare. There are no Sp versions and only SSP versions to chase. I feel there isn't a huge overflow of them like in past releases and some of these this time are demanding big bucks because they are so tough to pull.

And to continue on with the base card talk, as always, there are parallels. But, not too many per box. At least in mine. That may help give these a tad bit more value as in past releases it seemed like a one per two pack find. Golds are tough to spot as you gotta look at the bottom corner to see them and are still numbered to 2017.

I think the Rainbow Foils look pretty stunning especially with this design. They are not numbered however and fall at 1:10.

I was also fortunate enough to find a hobby/jumbo exclusive Negative parallel. No odds given and it's not numbered.

Other parallels you can find are,
  • Vintage Stock are numbered to 99.
  • Black are numbered to 66
  • MOTHER'S DAY HOT Pink are numbered to 50.
  • FATHER'S DAY POWDER BLUE are numbered to 50.
  • MEMORIAL DAY CAMO are numbered to 25.
  • Clear are numbered to 10
  • Platinum are numbered 1/1.
  • Printing Plates are numbered 1/1.
Now onto the inserts. I found these to be a bit refreshing this year. I liked that fact you didn't find half a pack of them. On average, I saw 1-2 per pack. Much improved and makes them much more fun to find and chase.

Topps Salute commemorate early season events with special photography and highlighting customized MLB uniforms. There are many varieties to find. Look for themed cards celebrating Rookies, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, Vintage uniforms and the greatest Legends of MLB. These fall at an easy rate of 1:4 packs

I wasn't impressed with these however after a second look. At first, I thought they were throwbacks. You look at the backs....

They are just ad fill-ins. Bleh.

Bowman Then & Now captures each player's original Bowman card with their current success on the field and is the closest I will get to their autographed rookies haha. These are inserted 1:8 packs

First Pitch returns again as my favorite insert again taking pop culture icons that threw out a ceremonial first pitch during the 2016 MLB season. These are inserted 1:8 packs

Love this John Goodman one. Really want the Jon Lovitz, Vicotria Justice and William Shatner ones to.

Five Tool gives you that Topps Fire feel as it was designed by the artist who does Topps Fire. These showcase players with 5-tools and are inserted 1:8 packs

MLB Network inserts. New to the insert lineup as well. Kinda cool and I like the design. These fall one-per-box.

1987 Topps Baseball makes it return to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of this iconic design with an insert set! These have stars of today, future and past and have the feel of the original. They also are each foil stamped with the 30th anniversary stamp. Wished I had pulled the Griffey. These fall 1:4 packs so you will find plenty of them. They also have red and platinum parallels.

Buyback cards fall 1 in every 6 packs and all but the most valuable cards will be stamped with a new foil "Rediscover" logo so they can be easily found. There will be multiple levels of rarity in the foil logos. I found two silvers in mine and 4 bronze. Not what levels there are or how tough they are.

I was actually fortunate to find this in my box as well. Not sure how tough the non-Rediscover foil pulls are as opposed the the ones with foil.

I also pulled an Ultimate Card Giveaway card that I assume are one-per-box for a chance at a free Topps Now card. You can also win Free Topps Bunt '17 cards. Did I win (which would be my very first Topps Now card)...well... I will highlight if I won or not and show off what the Ultimate Card Giveaway card looks like tomorrow.

There are plenty of hits to find in Series 1. My typical find is usually a plain color swatch in flagship and update and that's what I expected. It's just what my going rate with baseball and football when they had the license.

But, three packs in and to my surprise....

In The Name Relics 1/1 Letter Patch from an All-Star Game Workout Jersey. Pretty slick looking card.

Other hits including relic cards, manufactured relic cards, autographs, autograph patch cards not found in my box are....

Topps Reverence Autograph Patch Cards, Major League Material Autograph Relic Cards, World Series Champion Autograph Relic Cards,Postseason Performance Autograph Relic Cards, Topps Salute Autograph Cards, World Series Champion Autograph Cards, Postseason Performance Autograph Cards, 1987 Topps Baseball Autograph Cards, Major League Material Cards, World Series Champion Relic Cards, Postseason Performance Relic Cards, In The Name Relics, Cut Signatures, MLB All-Star Team Medallion Cards and MLB Spring Training Logo Patch Cards.

As you can see, plenty of fun to find.

OVERALL, I was pretty happy with the break. Even if I had gotten that single color jersey card again I felt pretty good about the break and this years product. I hope Topps builds off from it for 2018.

Most of the product was pretty solid in terms of design and themes. There were a couple of less-impressive things especially those advertising cards but more positives in my opinion than negatives. Especially with lesser photo variations, lesser inserts, and less parallels to find per box. I think this years product will be worth a tad more down the road for those seeking key cards for their collections.

It will be interesting to hear your guys thoughts on the product especially the base card design. Leave them below!

Also look for a future giveaway with some of the cards you see above. I am working on how to run that giveaway along with future giveaways. Stay tuned and make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review and to host nice giveaways with. Follow them on all social media sites and visit their site, HERE, as well.

Pat,Can I Get A Letter?

So we continue my trade recap with 90's Niche Football Card blog on the second to last day. We have officially ended the Giants run on cards yesterday and take our turn to a few cross-offs of my Wantlist which I hope to have updated by January 1st.

So today, we cross off a couple more letters towards my lettering out of Sport Card Collectors. This is something I have wanted to do for years but never put the efforts into.

Here are L and S of Luke Stocker to fill in  a couple of gaps. I didn't care if they are signed or not and don't care who they are.

I will hopefully have another update on this soon!

REVIEW:2016 Topps Triple Threads Baseball+BIG PULL AND BIG #d 1/3 GIVEAWAY!

Triple Threads baseball has been an iconic Topps brand now for over 10 years now and one that has a lot to offer from MLB players of the past and present with a deep checklist of autograph and memorabilia items. The cards have always looked really sharp as I have picked up many singles over the years from baseball and football.

So why don't we take a look at what the 2016 edition looks like,

In every hobby box of 2016 Topps Triple Threads baseball, there are two mini boxes. Inside of those mini boxes are one silver pack in each. Each hobby box will run you $170. So it's high end that not everyone can afford, but mini boxes wouldn't be a bad way to go here if you wanted to gamble.

Each Mini Box may contain VERSION 1 or VERSION 2:
VERSION 1 contains three base cards, two base Parallel cards, one Triple Relic Card AND one Triple Threads Unity Single Auto Jumbo Relic OR one Autographed Rookie Card.

VERSION 2 contains three base cards, two base Parallel cards, one AND 1 Autographed Triple Relic card + one Triple Threads Unity Jumbo Relic.

In every hobby box you should find the following,
  • One Autographed Triple Relic Card #'d to 99 or less
  • One Triple Relic Card #'d to 36 or less
  • One Autographed Rookie Card or Triple Threads Unity Autograph Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 99 or less
  • One Triple Threads Unity Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 36 or less
The base cards are what you would expect from a high end brand. Well designed, printed on high end cardboard (none of that flimsy stuff) and top notch checklist of players from present to past.

There are 100 cards in the base set.

As with any product today, there are parallels. Mine was Astro heavy. The upside down triangle behind the players head helps you differentiate what color you pulled. Besides the numbering.
Here are the many options for base card parallels.
  • Amethyst Parallel - #'d to 250
  • Emerald Parallel - #'d to 200
  • Amber Parallel - #'d to 150
  • Gold Parallel - #'d to 99
  • Onyx Parallel - #'d to 50
  • Sapphire Parallel - #'d to 25
  • Ruby Parallel - #'d to 1
  • Printing Plates - All 1 of 1's!
Now time for the hits in my box!

This is a Triple Threads Unity Single Jumbo Relics. If I am going to get a one color swatch, I want it on a nice looking card as this. The base versions of these are #'d to 36. I pulled a silver that is #d to 27.
There are other parallels to:
  • Emerald Parallel - #'d to 18
  • Gold Parallel - #'d to 9
  • Sapphire Parallel - #'d to 3
  • Ruby Parallel - #'d to 3
My next pull was an Autographed Rookie Card and a dreaded redemption card. Not something I would expect in a high end brand, but I guess it happens. I just wished it had been of a legend or big current player. Doesn't feel right being a rookie. But, I guess some or most of these are on-card so that works.

It's called Triple Threads for a reason....Triple the threads. This is an Triple Threads autograph card but it's also a Sapphire parallel numbered to 3. Base versions are numbered to 18.

Other parallels are....
  • Gold Parallel - #'d to 9
  • Ruby Parallel - #'d to 1
  • Wood Parallel - #'d to 1
  • Printing Plates - All 1 of 1
My final pull was a biggie, a Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Relic booklet that has 1 player with 3 relics, which include 2 patch pieces and 1 jumbo patch piece and is #d to 3.

Inside.....

BOOM! And it's Game Used! Such a sick card.
There are tons and tons of other finds not found in my box but in the product including,
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Patch Combos
  • Triple Threads Letter Plus Relics
  • Triple Threads Unity Autograph Jumbo Relics
  • Triple Threads All-Star Patches
  • Triple Threads All-Star Jumbo ASG Patches
  • Triple Threads All-Star Jumbo Sleeve Team Patches
  • Triple Threads All-Star Majestic Logo Patch
  • Triple Threads All-Star Laundry Tag,
  • Deca Threads Auto Relics
  • Deca THREADS Auto Relic Combos
  • Deca Threads Relic Combos
  • Future Phenoms Auto Relics
  • Triple Threads Auto Relic Combos
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Autograph Relics
  • Triple Threads Letter Plus Autograph Relics
  • Triple Threads Cut Above Autograph
  • Triple Threads Dual Cut Above Autographs
  • Triple Threads Relics Legends
  • Triple Threads Relics
  • Triple Threads Bat Name Plates
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Letter/Number/Logos
  • Triple Threads Bat Knobs
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Relics
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Patch Combos
  • Triple Threads Letter Plus Relics
And of course all of these have parallels as well. I would have listed what each card description is, but I think for the most part they are self explanatory and with so much offered I would be here awhile. They are however all really beautiful cards and I suggest you look some up on eBay or Google to see some of these for yourself. It may help you decide to buy a box other than my review of course ;)

You should also check out this article on Topps about the All-Star jerseys they included in the product. Read that HERE.

I also have the 2016 Topps Triple Threads baseball checklist available for you to that I found on the GoGTS website. I couldn't find it on Topps. You can check that out, HERE. It's pretty loaded.

Overall, this is what I would come to expect from a high end brand. Low numbered cards, well designed and some HUGE hits that await. You can't guarantee that every break is going to turn out as well as mine did, but, that's the risk you take with any high end product. This one on the other hand I think has so much to offer that if I was to roll the dice on high end, this would be the one I would take a chance on.

If you can't afford the gamble, definitely get yourself in on a box break or try a mini box. I don't think you will be disappointed.
