Yep, that's right. I brought back the popular series Hobby Topic. This series is all about you, the readers. My opinion is mum on every subject, however, you guys have the open mic per say on here. So without further ado, here is today' topic:
Do you feel the hobby is falling apart with so many changes, fake patches, licensing and so on?
Leave your thoughtful comments below!
No. It's changing, for sure, and not for the better, but falling apart? I would say that's too far. Licensing is the biggest negative impact. With the sports leagues signing exclusive contracts, that hurts the hobby immensely. The licensing is also what killed Press Pass, as each sponsor, driver and team demanded licensing fees.
ReplyDeleteThe fake autographs and relics are not good, but for someone like me who focuses mainly on base cards, it's not that big a deal. We really have no real way of knowing ANY of the relics are legitimately person used anyway, other than the promise of the card companies.
I think the hobby is straining under the pressure of "guaranteed hits" and oneupsmanship with new products. Everything has to be bigger and better. I would be happy to see more products focus on card design and fun inserts, with the hits scattered a little less frequently.
