License Roulette Results: NCAA

With the License Roulette now in the books, we thought it would be time to show off the results from each sport that you guys voted for. The voting process was over a two week period with most sports receiving up to 50+ votes each. Thanks to everyone who took a few seconds out to vote.

Now onto the results....followed after the results will be our reaction:

Panini America	(39%)
Upper Deck	(26%)

Looks like people are very happy with what Panini has done to card collecting as they took or tied 4 out of 5 titles. This vote was very close throughout as all of the companies were neck to neck. A little surprised that Upper Deck wasn't more received here. Means either collectors are not happy with what they are doing or that they would rather see Upper Deck doing pro licenses again.

It was great that other collectors besides myself miss Press Pass and Sa-ge NCAA licensed cards. Products for Press Pass and Sa-ge haven't been the same since they lost the license.

License Roulette Results: NFL

With the License Roulette now in the books, we thought it would be time to show off the results from each sport that you guys voted for. The voting process was over a two week period with most sports receiving up to 50+ votes each. Thanks to everyone who took a few seconds out to vote.

Panini fans again stood up for their favorite company and are happy with what products they are putting out on the market. As for Topps the other NFL licensed company, it appears Upper Deck is creeping up on them in terms of collectors wanting UD NFL licensed products. I know I would personally like to see Sp Authentic and Spx back in the NFL running. However, I would also like to keep Topps Chrome as well. I guess for me being a bigger NFL collector than any other sport, I would like to see three here with the license.

This just shows that people are happy with the two licensed companies that are already doing NHL and that they don't want anyone else to do it. It was nice to see how close this race was compared to the others in the License Roulette. That's why we think people are happy where the future of the NHL cards are going.

License Roulette Results: NBA

Not much of a surprise here that Panini almost ran away with this as they have done a good job with the license. But Upper Deck was only a few votes behind from pulling this one out. Maybe this is trying to tell us that Upper Deck needs a shot to split this license. I think it would be interesting to see multiple companies again do NBA cards. Nothing against the job Panini is doing because I like the products they are producing for the NBA, but I also miss some Upper Deck ones that are just not the same in NCAA form.

License Roulette Results: MLB

MLB vote was a bit of a surprise to us. With so many complaints about Topps recently, finding them dominating the vote was a surprise. Seeing Panini America in second was not as they have proved with their recent MLBPA releases they too deserve a chance at the MLB license.

We were also happy that Upper Deck received some attention on this front because they also did an outstanding job with the license when they had it.

License Roulette Week!

Well, we are finally going to reveal who YOU GUYS voted for in our License Roulette. Yup, did you bet on the company that you wanted to win the License but the ball landed somewhere different. This week will tell you just that.

We also had some great comments from voters as well. They made some great points. Why just have one company with licenses, why not allow all three to dabble into them but cut down on products.

Andrew said "Honestly I think it would be best if the top 3 all had licenses for all products and were limited to 5 products per sport. That way you don't have over production and real competition. You could have 1 low end, three medium and one high end product per sport."

And then Kent followed that one with:  "I agree with Andrew. Way too many products by the companies that do have licenses...and even those that do not. I am a team collector and with all the parallels my collection will never be complete. I feel the need to limit those, too."

Do you guys agree with these comments? Should all companies be allowed a shot at pro licenses and cut down on the amount of products they put out? Or do you like where the hobby is at? Let us hear your thoughts too.

So this week, day by day, starting tomorrow with the MLB, we will reveal who you guys picked as the winners. Some are surprises, some are not. Once company, we must admit, stood out above all of the rest. Who that is...you will have to wait til Friday to see when all 5 License Roulette winners are finished up.

License Roulette

We hear many people all of the time say, "man I wished so and so still had the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA license". So we thought it would be fun to actually take a vote to see these results. Let's see who you want to have each license in a fun game of License Roulette.

On the RIGHT SIDE of our blog are POLLS. Each poll represents each license and a Top 4 Company you might want to have the license. You can make multiple choices for each or just one. It's up to you. The POLL will last until August 26th where the voting will end that morning. After that, we will announce the winner or winners of each license you guys voted for separately while also giving you our thoughts on each winner.
