Donation To The Rodney Hampton Collection

I was recently contacted by a fellow Giants fan and buddy of mine on Twitter in @Seth_Murphy8 about some Rodney Hampton's he had. Being the great guy he is, he wanted to donate his collection of them to my Hampton project knowing I would make them a great home.

Which I will. Like I do with any cards.

Being down to a certain list of Rodney's which limits a lot of new ones without looking at the list, none of these were new, but are ones I am definitely holding onto as I do with all of my Hampton doubles.

There's a really solid mix of cards here.

I totally dig the Topps Gold parallel. It's just too bad I just added that one not long ago. The Playoff Contenders card below is in better shape than the one I have so I will do a switch out on that one.

The Giants helmet card is a new card for my Giants PC. I never pulled that one from Pacific.

I always hold onto Fleer Metal no matter what. But, I have never put these two side by side before until now and noticed the same photo was used.

I wished Upper Deck could revive some of the earlier Flair brand designs. They put out some nice base cards and full of color inserts.

And finally, speaking of Upper Deck, Spx 96-98 are still the greatest base sets in hobby history. I wouldn't be chasing them all if they were not.

A big thanks goes out to @Seth_Murphy8 for his generous donation towards my Hampton Project. I am 56.6% of the way of completion of all of his cards and am still in need of a lot more. If you have any off from this list right HERE and want to make a donation so you don't have to stare at Rodney Hampton cards on your desk anymore, I will make them a great home.
Thanks for reading!

This card is crying out for a Caption.

REVIEW:2017 Topps Allen And Ginter Baseball

Quirky is one word that comes to mind when I think about Allen and Ginter. But, it's that quirkiness that what attracts me to it.

From baseball to iconic names in other sports and non sports to fish to trees to wonders of the world. Allen and Ginter has it all and comes together beautifully.

Last year I hit a sick dual autograph patch booklet, how did this year pan out, well, read on!

Every box of 2017 Allen and Ginter baseball comes with 24 Packs and 8 Cards Per Pack. There will be a mixture of three hits from autographs to rip cards to memorabilia cards.

They also come with a boxloader:
Boxes are currently running $115.

Here was my boxloader card. These look kinda cool
There are also Allen & Ginter Boxloader Autograph, Allen & Ginter Boxloader Autographed Relic, and Allen & Ginter Boxloader Cut Signature.

Now onto the inner parts of the product.
The base set is 300 cards deep. There are also 50 Sp cards that fall 1:2 packs making up the 350 card master set.

The design is pretty simple and sticks to the norm for Allen and Ginter. It's main focus is the person on the card along with some added artsy color.

The base set is a mixture of stars past, present, and future along with some fun ones as well including

Harriet Tubman, baseball announcers and a panda.

Key rookies in the base set are, Aaron Judge, Andrew Benintendi, Alex Bregman, Yoan Moncada, Dansby Swanson, Manny Margot, Yulieski Gurriel, David Dahl, Ryon Healy, Carson Fulmer, Amir Garrett, Hunter Renfroe, and Trey Mancini. I pulled some of them but didn't pull any of the key rookies besides Swanson.

There are two base card parallels that are tough to find as well. Hot Box Parallel that are only found in Ginter hot boxes and Glossy Parallel that is Printed on glossy stock and numbered 1 of 1.

Now onto the inserts which there are plenty.
Mini's go wild and you find one per pack.

The minis have parallels of Allen & Ginter that falls 1:5 Packs which I showed the back here mixed in.

And Allen & Ginter Black-Bordered  that falls 1:10 Packs. Did pretty well with the two I found in my box.

There is also, Allen & Ginter No Number and Allen & Ginter Brooklyn Back minis that are numbered to 25.

There are mini inserts to find as well including,
World's Dudes, Bust a Move! (which you don't wanna see me do the hula), Required Reading, Magicians & Illusionists and Constellations that I have heard glow in the dark. My box didn't have one.

Full size inserts include the following,

What a Day!

World's Fair

Revolutionary Battles

(didn't find the name for these)

Sport Fish & Fishing Lures

And more of the Rediscover Topps inserts. I find these are a bit odd to find in this product. I think they should stay with Flagship, Update, Heritage type products. They didn't feel like they fit in here.

There are a ton of fun hits in Ginter. From sports to non sport idols there should be something for everyone.

My first find was a relic of Noah Sydergaard.

My second is cool and quirky. This is one of my favorite parts of Ginter.

And my final hit was this amazing looking Mini Framed relic Mattingly with a pinstripe.
Other hits not found in my box are,
Allen & Ginter RIP Cards (I still have always wanted one of these but no such luck so far),
Allen & Ginter Double RIP Cards. Here is what can be found in the rip cards:
Allen & Ginter Artist Original Cards numbered 1/1, Allen & Ginter Mini Exclusive Cards, Allen & Ginter Mini Metal Exclusive Cards Numbered to 3, Allen & Ginter Mini Wood Exclusive Cards Numbered 1 of 1.

Allen & Ginter Framed Gems & Ancient Fossils (so cool!!!!), Allen & Ginter Framed Fictional Figures Relics, Allen & Ginter Autographed Relic Book Cards, Allen & Ginter Dual Autographed Relic Book Cards, Allen & Ginter Framed Mini Autograph Cards, Allen & Ginter Framed Originals
and Cut Signatures.

OVERALL: I was a little disappointed I didn't pull an autograph or rip card. Finding three relics for my hits was not the best. However, the framed one does look extremely nice. I know it's supposed to be a mix of the three but I think three relics is not a good find for box that costs over $100. I think if two are relics the third should be an autograph or rip card. Or maybe it just needs to go to two hits and one and one. Not sure.

But, I was once again happy with the design and the possible finds. Those Ancient Fossil cards look amazing from what I see.

I will leave you with this, if you enjoyed Ginter before, you will enjoy Ginter again.

Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review and to be able to add cards to the MLB Pick Em promotion.  Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well.

The above envelopes are numbered 1-5. There will be 5 separate contests held over a 5 week span. Each contest will be easy to enter but all will be different.
When a winner is announced, the winner will have their choice of what envelope they would like. Even though I just put them together, I shuffled them and then numbered them so I have no idea which one has the chase cards.
Here are some of the cards you will be chasing.....
To win ONE OF THE FOUR PWE envelopes remaining, today's entry is simple, Just share this contest. RT it on Twitter or Share on Facebook or Post it on your blog.

  8. Good luck and please remember to THANK Panini America and Tracy Hackler!

Box Of Goods Part 2

Yesterday, I showed off some of the outer contents of this box.

Now time to dig deep in and show off some pretty cool cards I got in a trade.

We start it off with some Derek Jeters. I am considering condensing my PC list down some. I might just narrow my Yankee needs and wants to Jeter and Judge.

My first Jeter mini.

And the Jeter card from Archives I really wanted and now have. Well, I mean besides an autograph.

Some new Paul Perkins. I need to round up my Optic and see how many of the rainbow I have not that I would ever consider going down that road again because putting rainbows together can be costly.

New Sheps! Love the Select Blue Diec Cut one.

Odell Beckham Jr Topps Chrome refractor rookie. I don't think I have the base version of this but glad to have the refractor now! #chromerules

Ken Griffey Jr new additions. The home run derby card I totally dig!

UD Holgogram. Anytime I can add new ones I will definitely jump at the chance.

Thurman! My oldest Munson card now.

Patrick Ewing rookie sticker. Wicked awesome!
Some Americana additions. I always welcomed any non-sport relics and autographs.

A new Judge.

And to finish this mail day off, another new Judge. This time refractor style!
A big thanks goes out to Grady M for another great mail day and trade. I hope you liked your return mail day as well and I look forward to the next box in my mail box.

Box Of Goods Part 1

There is nothing more exciting to me than when I receive one of these boxes from SCC reader Grady M in the mail.
These boxes usually come hitting hard full of inserts, shiny items and team cards. This time there was even more to look forward to as we pulled off a trade as well.
Today, I am showing off just a few of the highlights of the box. Believe me there is more to show at a later date. But, I just wanted to show some off today and tomorrow will be the trade show off that has some Jeters, Judge, Non-sport relics and Giants!

So let's take a gander at some of the cards that came in the box.

Up first, some new Giants. All are from 2017 and since I don't have a lot of new football, these were welcomed additions.

Davis Webb. Could be the future for the Giants. Now I just gotta land his autograph somehow.

Evan Engram who has been all the rave in Giants camp. Glad to have these added to the PC. I am really liking the look of Prestige. Very clear action shots and photography.

Dean Anna anyone?? I have a ton myself. Just hoping that the two refractors are new to my future rainbow.

Some cool baseball inserts. I really wanted a Costas. Glad to have it now.

Some shiny basketball, a pink Wilson and a /25 Dalton.

Kyle Seager rainbow....Ichiro and Kemp. Great looking cards from Panini. Just wished they were licensed.
A great start to this mail day. Much more to come tomorrow so make sure to come back to see what I traded for!
