BCW Holiday Supplies Winner!

Hey everyone!! I must apologize for my late announcement on this, but I ran out of time the last few days to pick a winner.

So, today I took some time to get this done and now one has been chosen.

One thing you will notice about the list is that some people are not on it. There were four that commented but did not leave their name. They were listed as anonymous so I can't put that on the list not knowing who they are and especially since there was more than one. That means anyone could claim the prize. One thing to keep in mind for future contests I host is to make sure if you comment as anonymous, you add a name to the comments as well.

Now that I have said that so nobody complains, let's pick a winner.

As always, I pick my winners on Random.Org and I randomed the list 7 times. 7 just seems to be a lucky number.

Here is what happened after 7 randoms,

There were 13 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

  1. William Carter
  2. trsimmons58
  3. Beer Barrell Breaks
  4. Zeldafanatic15

  8. hudsonfan15
  9. RJ Sahl
  10. Crocodile
  11. @stuffmiami on X

It's been a long time since I have hosted a giveaway and thanks to my friends at BCW Supplies, I can!!

The contest hasn't started yet, but it will be in time for the holidays.

Here is what will be given away. These storage totes are great, I have one for my Rodney Hampton PC. Very durable!!

This contest lot comes with Trading Card Dividers as well!

But, before I make the official contest post,

I would love to build my following on Cards Over Coffee. I currently sit at 59 followers, lost one this morning for some reason. I want to see that number get to 75!

If we can get 16 more followers, I will post the giveaway quicker and it will be an easy one as well for entry in the official contest. I think either way I may require a Cards Over Coffee follow to be entered.

Follow CARDS OVER COFFEE HERE!!!

So, let's do this and get this contest going!

Don't forget to thank BCW as well!

Cardboard Review:BCW LaserWeld 9-Pocket Pages

I had thought about posting some new Giants cards I have in drafts today, but after last night's embarrassing game topped off with the entire start of this season, I said, nah. Let's go to something else.

Instead, let's do a product review instead.

BCW announced not too long ago, that they had created a new 9-Pocket Page that is supposed to be top notch among all other pages.
And I tend to agree.

The pages are done by laser welding, which helps strengthen the page and keep if flat without bending. The heavy gauge polypropylene helps with that as well.

Upon first glance, the page is crystal clear and when you pick it up you can definitely tell the difference in thickness of the page.

Here are the pages side by side, the laserweld on the left and the regular on the right. I think you can see the difference in the pages immediately.

And when you add cards, the clarity stands out first. But what you guys can't see is how easy the cards slide in and it's not something I can show you, so you will have to take my word for.

Sometimes it's a struggle with some pages I have found to slide the cards in without causing some corner damage.

I know this is a short review as it's really hard to show much more when it comes to pages.

So, I thought I would include this video by BCW about these pages. Watch it here,

Overall, I really like this upgrade to the pages. Not just for the storage of cards, but I really think these will upgrade my PWE shipping as well because of the thickness.

CARDBOARD REVIEW:3200 Ct. BCW Card Bin

A beaten up old two-row shoe box has been what I have been storing my Rodney Hampton collection in for awhile now, which is only the better/rare cards as the rest are in a binder.

It was time for an upgrade and what better upgrade then a new product offered by BCW Supplies.

The BCW 3200 Card Bin is an upgraded version of their monster boxes and instead of being made out of cardboard, it's made out of very durable plastic.

These bins also have dual locks on top so if they were to tip over (and as long as you remember to lock it when you are done) the cards won't spill out of the box and onto the floor. I have experienced this way too much with the cardboard versions. WAY TOO MANY.

Inside there is a lot of space, I thought about hiding in there myself but then there wouldn't have been room for Rodney so I stayed out. The box has four rows and each row comes

with a partician that is moveable throughout the bin if you have more cards of one player, team or set than another.. You can buy extra particians if you need them on the BCW website or just by clicking HERE.

And here is the final project. Luckily for me since it holds so much it only took half of the bin to store my Rodney Hamptons. The rows are wide enough to hold toploaders, magnetics, and deck boxes.

The other half of the bin I plan to store my better Eli Manning cards in. Maybe get an Eli bin all alone at some point as these bins are stackable which is really handy for those like me that don't have much room for storage. This is just as handy as the card sorting trays to me so I hope to get a few more of these down the road for a variety of my projects.

You can find your own 3200 Ct. BCW Card Bin by going HERE. I will mention ahead of time that there may be some wait on these from what I see, but get your order in now anyways if this is something that interests you.

Let me know your thoughts in comments!

While Posts Have Been Posting...

It may feel on here that I haven't missed a beat while the posts have been posting, but honestly, I haven't checked fully in on this blog in awhile.

All of the posts that have been posting are backlogged ones that have been desperately needing to see the light of day. So instead of posting my few small and far in-between mail days, I have been tweeting those out and letting these backlogged posts take up the blog.

Well, except for today. I decided to pop in with something fresh and update on what I have been doing in my spare time instead of putting up new posts.

I have been sorting. Every minute I have had a chance, I have been sorting, re-organizing and tearing it down and apart. This is by far the most work I have and will be putting forth into my collection since I started in the 90's.

First off, I have been stripping apart my once insert binders. Originally I was just tossing all the inserts into binders and that was it. But, I got so sick of looking for stuff I thought I had and since it wasn't by team it would take forever to look for. Well no more!

I finished baseball and football awhile go and now it's basketball and hockey time. I have to pull all of the cards out of the binder which is time consuming to say the least, then sort them by team using the handy BCW Sorting Tray. Which I suggest once again you go grab one for yourself HERE. Don't think I could have done this project without it.

Since I only have one tray free to work with, the other two have NY Yankees and rookie cards in them to be put away, so I have been transferring each sport by the tray onto my desk which I cleaned a spot for.

After that, I have been making sure to have BCW Penny Sleeves (which I found much more sturdy than it's rival counterpart), and BCW Trading Card dividers on hand so I can keep this project moving forward. I already had Shoe Boxes on hand.

And Shoe Box Houses to keep it nice and neat. I have been labeling the outside of the boxes as I go.

Now a bunch of empty binders and pages remain. But, don't worry, those won't be empty long.

The next part to tangle once basketball and hockey inserts are done is my Rodney Hampton binder. I have decided after much back and forth that I want to put those in a box as well by year. That way if I am looking for something I can just go to the year and find it.

This is just some of the sorting I am tackling.

I still have the following to do,
  • Sort hockey rookies by team. Last sport that needs it done
  • Move star players by sport from boxes into binders for easier access
  • Finally combine my football rookie inserts and my football rookies. Football rookie inserts must be pulled out of binder, sort by team to be put away
  • Sort hits by team
  • Locate some non sport sets I have been wanting to binder
My point is to make it so I can locate cards easier. This should be a big help, but a lot of work and very time consuming.

I will try to keep you guys updated on my progress when I can. In the meantime, at least until November, enjoy the backlogged posts.

Another note before I close, I have been keeping my want lists and set needs updated on here. Just in case you are looking to trade :)

Stocking It Up

With my big insert sorting project underway, I needed to stock up on some supplies and make sure I have enough stuff on hand to use when I finish sorting each sport.

Baseball inserts are close to being sorted by team, so it was time to be ready.

And ready I will be.

I grabbed a good handful of BCW Card Sleeves, two different sizes just in case of those thicker inserts, which should hopefully do the baseball inserts.

While I was at it, I have another baseball sorting project afterwards but needed these to do it. I will let you know what I do with these 15-Card Hinged boxes when I get to that project.

One of the biggest needs was shoe boxes and shoe box houses to store all of the outgoing inserts from binders. These should work perfectly for me to put them by team for every sport. Or at least baseball and football hopefully May need another for hockey and basketball.

I like the shoebox houses as it keeps the card room more neat than having storage boxes all over the place.

Stay tuned as I will continue to update my sorting project as 2019 as I move closer by my 2020 goal of being completely revamped and organized.

In the meantime, if you are looking for some great Penny Sleeves check out BCW's wide variety of them HERE.

And if you want to clean up your card room of boxes, go check out the shoe box with shoe box houses HERE.

It Was Time

It was time.

It was time for me to do another sorting project. This time, it was another big one.

Over the past few years, I have come to realize with all of the trading I do it would be a lot easier to have my cards sorted by team. So I did that with my base and rookie cards. However, my inserts I have not. And since I have four sports of them to sort, this was going to be quite the project to tackle.

I decided that baseball would be my first one to tackle since that and football were my biggest projects. Basketball and hockey don't have nearly as much.

So I dug right in. Pulling two binders worth of cards out, then sorting them, then rinse and repeat. As of my typing of this I still have a couple baseball insert binders to go.

I definitely couldn't have done any of this project easily without the help of my card sorting tray I got from BCW Supplies. I actually have three of them but could use a couple more the way I in-depth sort my cards and it helps keep my desk clean and neat.

Here are some cards freshly pulled from a couple of binders

And binders as they empty. I will reuse all of the binders and pages for other projects I have planned. I don't let anything go to waste.

Well, I should probably end this post so I can go back to the project at hand. I also should mention, if you plan on doing any sorting projects like one I am doing or even ones that are simpler, go grab yourself a Card Sorting Tray from BCW which you can find HERE.

While you are at it, let me hear what projects you have started on for sorting?

The Supplies Are Set!

Before I started in on this Big Sort of 2019, I had to make sure that I had the right supplies on hand so I turned to my favorite card supply place in BCW Supplies to get what I needed.

Here was what I got and what I am going to do with each.

With these Shoe House with 6 Shoe Boxes . I am going to put all of my NY Giants hits by player. I have been wanting to do this for years and make it easier for me to search for cards. Especially if I decide to post some on here that may have never been viewed here.

After buying one of these Shoe House with Boxes, I suggest checking out this instructional video on how to put one together. It can be pretty intenese otherwise lol. Well, at least for this uncoordinated blogger.

If you want to see folding directions for the Shoe House, here’s the demo.

Also needed this Card House that comes with 12 800ct boxes for my Griffey Collection. I am going to be putting them by year in these boxes and mark the years on the outside. They all will be penny sleeved and the ones with more value will be put in a safer spot. This is for general base and inserts.

Had to grab the Penny Sleeves for my Griffey Jr project and for my binder swap out project of inserts for super star players. More details on that coming up.

These Tall Card Dividers will fit perfectly in the bigger shoe boxes above to seperate my Giants players. I use index cards for my teams and players, but for something special like this project, it gets a major upgrade.

BCW also offers 3 versions of card dividers, for other sized boxes as well. I may need to look at some for my insert project. Once again, details on that is for another time.

I suppose I got to end this article for today so I can get to tackling some of this project.

But, I am curious what you guys use for your collection in terms of supplies?
