REVIEW:2016 Cryptozoic Outlander Season 1+Giveaway!

Let's take a trip back in time, way back in time, and see the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world.

This is just the beginning of a story of love and more.

In each box of Outlander Season 1, you will find 5 Cards per pack and 24 packs per box. Boxes will run you $80 per.

The base set consists of 72 cards featuring images from the premier season. The photos are crystal clear and have high gloss. You should complete a base set in a box as well.

Fraser Crest silver foil variants fall 1:3 packs and feature a silver crest on the front. The variants are for the inserts too.

Thistle of Scotland gold foil variants are #/50 and fall 1:15 packs.

The inserts are all 9 card sets in which one box should complete them for you.

Speak Outlander fall 1:3 packs. Good luck reading the fronts unless you speak Outlander :0

Quotes fall 1:3 packs and feature all of the great lines from the show.

Character Bios fall 1:3 packs and feature a classic old design. I really dig it. It's like a famous painting hung on a wall.

Now onto the hits!

The wardrobes feature a nice layout design with a cool wardrobe cut out.

Once again, the on-card auto content in Cryptozoic products are outstanding. Design is always well done leaving lots of space for people to sign.

Other signers include:
Steven Cree as Ian Murray
Gary Lewis as Colum MacKenzie
Annette Badland as Mrs. Fitzgibbons
James Fleet as Reverend Wakefield
Simon Callow as Duke of Sandringham
Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie
Tobias Menzies as Frank Randall / Black Jack Randall
Lochlann O'Mearáin as Horrocks
Aislín McGuckin as Letitia MacKenzie
Lotte Verbeek as Geillis Duncan
Grant O'Rourke as Rupert MacKenzie
Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
Duncan Lacroix as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser
Douglas Henshall as Taran MacQuarrie
Finn Den Hertog as Willie
Laura Donnelly as Jenny Fraser
Nell Hudson as Laoghaire MacKenzie

And once again, another printing plate surprise. These fall 1:128 packs. This one is hot magenta!
Overall, no complaints from me again on another well done Cryptozoic product. Complete base and insert sets, parallels (including at least one #d to 50), an on-card auto and wardrobe card plus other surprises. Feels worth it to me and a good autograph checklist.

Now onto how to win this auto card:

REVIEW:2016 Topps Triple Threads Baseball+BIG PULL AND BIG #d 1/3 GIVEAWAY!

Triple Threads baseball has been an iconic Topps brand now for over 10 years now and one that has a lot to offer from MLB players of the past and present with a deep checklist of autograph and memorabilia items. The cards have always looked really sharp as I have picked up many singles over the years from baseball and football.

So why don't we take a look at what the 2016 edition looks like,

In every hobby box of 2016 Topps Triple Threads baseball, there are two mini boxes. Inside of those mini boxes are one silver pack in each. Each hobby box will run you $170. So it's high end that not everyone can afford, but mini boxes wouldn't be a bad way to go here if you wanted to gamble.

Each Mini Box may contain VERSION 1 or VERSION 2:
VERSION 1 contains three base cards, two base Parallel cards, one Triple Relic Card AND one Triple Threads Unity Single Auto Jumbo Relic OR one Autographed Rookie Card.

VERSION 2 contains three base cards, two base Parallel cards, one AND 1 Autographed Triple Relic card + one Triple Threads Unity Jumbo Relic.

In every hobby box you should find the following,
  • One Autographed Triple Relic Card #'d to 99 or less
  • One Triple Relic Card #'d to 36 or less
  • One Autographed Rookie Card or Triple Threads Unity Autograph Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 99 or less
  • One Triple Threads Unity Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 36 or less
The base cards are what you would expect from a high end brand. Well designed, printed on high end cardboard (none of that flimsy stuff) and top notch checklist of players from present to past.

There are 100 cards in the base set.

As with any product today, there are parallels. Mine was Astro heavy. The upside down triangle behind the players head helps you differentiate what color you pulled. Besides the numbering.
Here are the many options for base card parallels.
  • Amethyst Parallel - #'d to 250
  • Emerald Parallel - #'d to 200
  • Amber Parallel - #'d to 150
  • Gold Parallel - #'d to 99
  • Onyx Parallel - #'d to 50
  • Sapphire Parallel - #'d to 25
  • Ruby Parallel - #'d to 1
  • Printing Plates - All 1 of 1's!
Now time for the hits in my box!

This is a Triple Threads Unity Single Jumbo Relics. If I am going to get a one color swatch, I want it on a nice looking card as this. The base versions of these are #'d to 36. I pulled a silver that is #d to 27.
There are other parallels to:
  • Emerald Parallel - #'d to 18
  • Gold Parallel - #'d to 9
  • Sapphire Parallel - #'d to 3
  • Ruby Parallel - #'d to 3
My next pull was an Autographed Rookie Card and a dreaded redemption card. Not something I would expect in a high end brand, but I guess it happens. I just wished it had been of a legend or big current player. Doesn't feel right being a rookie. But, I guess some or most of these are on-card so that works.

It's called Triple Threads for a reason....Triple the threads. This is an Triple Threads autograph card but it's also a Sapphire parallel numbered to 3. Base versions are numbered to 18.

Other parallels are....
  • Gold Parallel - #'d to 9
  • Ruby Parallel - #'d to 1
  • Wood Parallel - #'d to 1
  • Printing Plates - All 1 of 1
My final pull was a biggie, a Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Relic booklet that has 1 player with 3 relics, which include 2 patch pieces and 1 jumbo patch piece and is #d to 3.

Inside.....

BOOM! And it's Game Used! Such a sick card.
There are tons and tons of other finds not found in my box but in the product including,
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Patch Combos
  • Triple Threads Letter Plus Relics
  • Triple Threads Unity Autograph Jumbo Relics
  • Triple Threads All-Star Patches
  • Triple Threads All-Star Jumbo ASG Patches
  • Triple Threads All-Star Jumbo Sleeve Team Patches
  • Triple Threads All-Star Majestic Logo Patch
  • Triple Threads All-Star Laundry Tag,
  • Deca Threads Auto Relics
  • Deca THREADS Auto Relic Combos
  • Deca Threads Relic Combos
  • Future Phenoms Auto Relics
  • Triple Threads Auto Relic Combos
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Autograph Relics
  • Triple Threads Letter Plus Autograph Relics
  • Triple Threads Cut Above Autograph
  • Triple Threads Dual Cut Above Autographs
  • Triple Threads Relics Legends
  • Triple Threads Relics
  • Triple Threads Bat Name Plates
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Letter/Number/Logos
  • Triple Threads Bat Knobs
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Relics
  • Triple Threads Jumbo Patch Combos
  • Triple Threads Letter Plus Relics
And of course all of these have parallels as well. I would have listed what each card description is, but I think for the most part they are self explanatory and with so much offered I would be here awhile. They are however all really beautiful cards and I suggest you look some up on eBay or Google to see some of these for yourself. It may help you decide to buy a box other than my review of course ;)

You should also check out this article on Topps about the All-Star jerseys they included in the product. Read that HERE.

I also have the 2016 Topps Triple Threads baseball checklist available for you to that I found on the GoGTS website. I couldn't find it on Topps. You can check that out, HERE. It's pretty loaded.

Overall, this is what I would come to expect from a high end brand. Low numbered cards, well designed and some HUGE hits that await. You can't guarantee that every break is going to turn out as well as mine did, but, that's the risk you take with any high end product. This one on the other hand I think has so much to offer that if I was to roll the dice on high end, this would be the one I would take a chance on.

If you can't afford the gamble, definitely get yourself in on a box break or try a mini box. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Now time for the GIVEAWAY. This is how this is going to work:

20 Entries or less,
This is the contest:

35 Entries or less,
This will be tossed in to another winner. So two winners

50 Entries

I strongly suggest you spread the word on this one! I know we can hit 50 entries and we have a week to do so! Not to mention, spreading the word and commenting with so earns you an extra entry!

REVIEW:2016 Topps BUNT Baseball Cards (GIVEAWAY)

As most readers know on here, I am not much of a digital card kinda guy. I don't have anything against those who collect them no more than they should against those who don't collect digital cards. It's all collecting and we all have our preferences. As long as it builds the hobby, I am on-board.

When Topps announced they were making a BUNT physical product, I was kinda interested on how that was going to work and how they were going to tie in the digital as well.

Well, I gave a box a crack and here is how it went.

In every hobby box of 2016 Topps Bunt baseball is 36 Packs with 7 Cards Per Pack. Boxes will run you roughly $30. Lot's of cards for a very good price and reminds me of a lot of 90's products.

The BUNT-art base card design I kinda dig. Especially the Griffey card. I am usually a photography kinda guy but something to do with the layout and team logo catches my eye. The base set itself runs 200 cards deep consisting of veterans, legends and rookies. So not an overly challenging task, but still may take a couple of boxes as I found a handful of doubles.

Three great rookies here

There are also base card parallels to find but are tough to pull. I think Platinum which is the easiest falls at 1:57 packs.
  • Platinum Parallel #'d to 99
  • topaz Parallel #'d to 50
  • Crimson Parallel #'d 1/1
  • Printing Plates #'d 1/1
Just like the app, the product has inserts too.

Unique Uni's:

Light Force Set. I like the look of these. I wished Griffey was in checklist.

Program Set:

Future of the Franchise contains all of the young stars.

There is also Moon Shots that are of home-run hitters and #'d to 50 and Stadium Heritage that highlights 15 franchise players along with the ballpark where they play. Those are #'d to 25.

BUNT Loot Cards are inserted 1:3 packs. So you get 12 per box. BUNT Loot cards will unlock a free pack of digital cards on the BUNT App. Each digital pack will include 10 cards, which guarantee 1 topaz parallel and 1 insert. You can also hit some impressive inserts from the possible codes.

Title Town (BUNT Player Cards) help bridge the digital/physical world. This insert set showcases 10 dynasty team cards that highlight 3 players on a card who have won one or more World Series titles. Card backs will include a unique code that unlocks a digital version on the BUNT App. These are tough pulls with the Base being #'d to 75 and parallels of Amber #'d to 50 and Platinum Parallel #'d 1/1. This is a great way to help give those who don't normally collect the digital cards a great hit to kick it off. However, tough pulls too.

And we can't forget about hits! There are autographs of top players in the game included in this product. However, they have astronomical odds of 1:7000 or something like that. The autographs do however cross that bridge of being both a live in product hit and unlocked through contests on the Topps BUNT App.

Overall, this product definitely isn't for the heavy hitters. It's a kids/digital/set collectors type of product. Or a bust for those who like to open something that's really reasonably priced on a rainy day hoping to uncover a treasure or wanting to give the app a try through the physical world.

I think the idea and concept of the product is brilliant with Topps obviously trying to get interest of non-digital collectors a chance to dive into that world by buying a physical product. They do that by using things like free digital card packs and the tie-ins of physical cards you can pull and then can unlock on the digital app.

But, what I like most of all, is the cost and maybe attention grabber for the kids. This is probably the cheapest product on the market right now and has all of the stars of today, yesterday and tomorrow and ties in something "game-ish" and digital which seems to be a lot of what kids are into now-a-days.

Whatever the aim here for Topps was, I hope it works out. I am on board with anything that builds the hobby.

In the end, did this change my mind or draw me toward the world of digital as a non-digital collector? No, not really as it still only has it's appeal as a physical product. But, that's just who I am and has nothing to do with Topps attempt in this product. I look at this product as a cheaper way of adding cards from the Yankees, Griffey, some rookies and maybe a set.

Either way and no matter your preference, this product is worth a try for sure.

Now time for the giveaway.
I have 12 of these BUNT FREE PACKS to giveaway.
I will be giving 4 away below, 4 on Facebook and 4 on Twitter. Please make sure to follow Sport Card Collectors and enter in all areas!

REVIEW:2016 Topps Finest Baseball Mini Box+Auto Giveaway!

It has been a few years since I have personally busted a box of Finest. For the most part the product has remained the same with some new fun inclusions added in yearly.

Last year Finest introduced Finest Careers that celebrated Derek Jeter. This year it returns again and this time celebrates my main man, KGJr.

So to me looking at this box isn't a bad start to the product:
Just to point this out again, today's break isn't a full hobby box. This is a mini box. 2 mini boxes make up a hobby box. So this is basically half a hobby box.

In every mini box of 2016 Finest baseball, there are 6 packs with 5 cards per pack. There is one autograph per mini box and hobby boxes run about $120. I would assume a mini box will run you about $60-$70.

The base cards have a basic design with a colored line on the left or right with a team logo watermarked at the bottom of the line. There is also a full colored player in the forefront. The featured player's picture also seems to be "zoomed away" before coming to focus in the center of the card. Kind of a cool look.

The cards are printed on a chrome stock. I do miss the days of the peel-away stickers to help with scratching however.

The base set consists of 100 cards that are made up of rookies and MLB vets.

The rookie cards have the same design as the base except they have the rookie logo. I pulled a Maeda in my box.

The base cards also have Sp's. Those make up cards 101-110 (of players not in the first 100 and one of those is Kris Bryant) if you are trying to put together the master base set. Sp's fall 1:5 packs.

Now onto the parallels and inserts.

As with Finest or anything chromed, they come with refractor parallels. These two are the basic ones I pulled in my mini box.

There are also green refractors that fall 1:4 packs and are numbered /99. I found this guy....
You can also find these refractors,
  • Prism Refractor
  • Purple Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered.
  • Blue Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered.
  • Gold Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered.
  • Orange Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered to 25.
  • Red Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered to 5.
  • SuperFractor Parallel: numbered. 1/1.
  • Printing Plates: numbered 1/1.
Finest First inserts fall 1:2 packs. This insert commemorates each MLB Rookie's first appearance in Topps Finest.

There are also much tougher autograph and autograph refractor parallels to be found of Finest First as well.

Refractors to find include:
  • Green Refractor: sequentially numbered.
  • Gold Refractor: sequentially numbered.
  • Orange Refractor: sequentially numbered to 25.
  • Red Refractor: sequentially numbered to 5.
  • SuperFractor: numbered 1/1.
  • Printing Plates: numbered 1/1.

Franchise Finest is a new insert included this year. It Features each team's franchise player on a chrome refractor card.

1996 Finest Intimidators is by far my FAVORITE insert in Finest: Topps dug back in time and recreated the cool looking insert set of 1996 with today's most "intimidating" veterans and retired players.

These look even cooler in person. Would be an interesting set to put together and one I am not intimidated to try.
In case you wondered what a version of this looked like from 1996, here is a Piazza pic (not mine)

Like I stated earlier, Finest is celebrating Ken Griffey Jr.’s great accomplishments in the product and have included an die-cut insert called Finest Careers to do so. There are 10 unique cards to collect with just one of these cards found in every case. They are astronomical odds, but a fun chase for us Griffey collectors.

There are three parallels offered for this insert:
  • Orange Refractor (numbered to 25)
  • Red Refractor (numbered to 5)
  • Superfractor (1-of-1).
Autograph versions of Finest Careers Ken Griffey Jr can be found and are numbered to just five copies each.
Now onto the autographs and other offerings from Finest.
This was my pull from the mini box, not that great but it is on-card. Norris is still a young gun so he could do something big later on in his MLB career, right now he is currently playing for Toledo.

Just like most of the product, the autographs have refractor parallels too. Here are those offerings:
  • Blue Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered.
  • Green Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered.
  • Gold Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered.
  • Orange Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered to 25.
  • Red Refractor Parallel: sequentially numbered to 5.
  • SuperFractor Parallel: numbered 1/1.
  • Printing Plates: numbered 1/1.
Some of the other things not found in my box are
  • Finest Originals that feature on-card autographs on buybacks from the past 20-plus years. These have gotta be cool!
  • Finest Greats Autograph set that showcases elite MLB retired players such as Cal Ripken Jr., Don Mattingly, Hank Aaron and Sandy Koufax.
Overall, it was a bit of a tough break I feel. I do like the designs and offerings but cost vs return comes into play here and it's a toughie to look at. Of course it may be because it was just a mini box. It's really hard to judge without seeing the full picture. Who knows, the other mini box could have had a Sandy Koufax autograph which would had made the overall break and my view of it much different. So what I recommend is when buying this, stick strictly to full hobby boxes and see how that goes. I have seen some good stuff already pulled from hobby boxes of the product so I know it is solid.
