CARDBOARD REVIEW:2019 Topps Triple Threads

As I am typing this, the Nationals lead the Astros 2-1 in the World Series. I can't believe that but it's what I want. First time winners is where it's at after the team you wanted to win gets out and the other teams you dislike are already out as well.

Just hoping the Nationals keep it rolling like Topps and their late season releases.

The latest release is one of my favorites, despite my past no success with the product. I just like the cards themselves.

Let's take a look at how I did in a box of 2019 Topps Triple Threads

In every master box of 2019 Topps Triple Threads, there are two mini boxes. Each mini box has it's own version.

Mini Box Version 1

• 1 Autograph Jumbo Relic or Rookie Autograph (/99 or less)
• 1 Triple Relic (/36 or less)
• 3 Base Cards
• 2 Base Parallel Cards

Mini Box Version 2

• 1 Autograph Triple Relic (/99 or less)
• 1 Jumbo Relic (/36 or less)
• 3 Base Cards
• 2 Base Parallel Cards

Full master boxes currently run around $210

The base set is built up of 100 cards of veterans

 

And legends. No not hit rookies are found in the base set which is a tad disappointing for me. The cards have a very simple but elegant design with extremely thick card. The foil on the card has a rainbow touch to it. I like it and would expect it to be this way for a high end product.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: High end products are tough on me. They look great, but my hits are never superb. And it's not like you can expect one Mike Trout autograph per box or a 1/1 logo patch, it's not how the hobby works. Every part of it is a gamble and this is just a higher one. 

For me personally, I wouldn't ever take a gamble on a box even though it was fun to rip. I am just not a risk taker.The product and its hits though can be amazing as I have seen some of them.

If you want in on a box break without paying box prices, I suggest Midwest Box Breaks as they pull fire as they already did with Triple Threads.

REVIEW:2017 Topps Triple Threads Baseball

As the postseason moves on, so do the baseball card reviews on Sport Card Collectors.

Today's postseason edition is of 2017 Topps Triple Threads.  A high end brand for sure.

Last year I broke a box and didn't pull any boom, will I in 2017, READ ON!

(the box cover design is a great start at least)

 

Each Master Box of 2017 Topps Triple Threads baseball comes with 2 mini boxes. Each mini box has 7 cards and 2 hits per mini box. Each master box should contain One Autographed Triple Relic Card #'d to 99 or less, One Triple Relic Card #'d to 36 or less, One Autographed Rookie Card or Autograph Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 99 or less, and One Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 36 or less. Boxes are currently running $210.

The base set for Triple Threads is 100 cards deep. The set consists of veterans and long time legends. I totally dig the design. Looks very majestic and the base cards are thick and what you would expect from a high end product. The touch of holofoil makes these stand out even more.

 

There are no rookie cards in the plain base set, but there are autographed memorabilia ones in the base set. Key Rookies to find of those include, Cody Bellinger, Aaron Judge, Dansby Swanson, Alex Bregman, Tyler Glasnow, Ian Happ, Andrew Benintendi, Yulieski Gurriel, Yoan Moncada, Trey Mancini, Bradley Zimmer, Franklin Barreto, Lewis Brinson, Manny Margot, and Ryon Healy. 

There are some fun parallels to find in Triple Threads as well. Very easy to determine which I like. Amethyst /340 and Emerald /250 were my pulls from the boxes. There was one of each in each mini box.

Other parallels not found by me include, Amber /150, Gold #99, Onyx /50, Sapphire /25, Ruby 1/1, and Printing Plates 1/1. I wonder what the plates look like?

Now we go straight to the hits. That's what happens when a product doesn't have any inserts.

My first pull was this Triple Threads Relic Cards of my other stalker, Alex Reyes. It's like the fourth pull of him this year. Why couldn't have Aaron Judge stalked me?!!?

 

My next pull was this memorabilia trio including a bat swatch from Clayton Kershaw. This is a Triple Threads Relics Cards usually #'d to 36 but this is a Silver Parallel #'d to 27.

 

My next one is this autographed relic card of J.D. Martinez who really turned it on this season after being traded.

 

And my final hit was this sapphire /3 parallel that's written out Double Robber of Kevin Kiermaier.

There is a lot to find in here!!! MOST of the hits also have very low numbered parallels to them as well.

Overall, this was a very, very, tough break for a $200 box. Probably why I shy away from high end. However, if I was going to take the gamble, Triple Threads is where I would put my money. Lots of great looking base, parallels and hits.

The overall product looks so nice, I would suggest if you can't afford a mini or master box,  pour your money into a box break. You never know what kind of monsters will be hiding in there and for a lot less you could find them. If you don't want to even do that, put some money towards some singles. I know you won't be disappointed.

I say this with a lot of products but that's because it's true as each one has their following. If you liked Triple Threads before, 2017 will not disappoint especially with as hot as baseball cards have been this year.

REVIEW:2016 Topps Triple Threads Baseball+BIG PULL AND BIG #d 1/3 GIVEAWAY!

Triple Threads baseball has been an iconic Topps brand now for over 10 years now and one that has a lot to offer from MLB players of the past and present with a deep checklist of autograph and memorabilia items. The cards have always looked really sharp as I have picked up many singles over the years from baseball and football.

So why don't we take a look at what the 2016 edition looks like,

In every hobby box of 2016 Topps Triple Threads baseball, there are two mini boxes. Inside of those mini boxes are one silver pack in each. Each hobby box will run you $170. So it's high end that not everyone can afford, but mini boxes wouldn't be a bad way to go here if you wanted to gamble.

 

Each Mini Box may contain VERSION 1 or VERSION 2:
VERSION 1 contains three base cards, two base Parallel cards,one Triple Relic Card AND one Triple Threads Unity Single Auto Jumbo Relic OR one Autographed Rookie Card.

VERSION 2 contains three base cards, two base Parallel cards,one AND 1 Autographed Triple Relic card + one Triple Threads Unity Jumbo Relic.
 

In every hobby box you should find the following,

• One Autographed Triple Relic Card #'d to 99 or less
• One Triple Relic Card #'d to 36 or less
• One Autographed Rookie Card or Triple Threads Unity Autograph Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 99 or less
• One Triple Threads Unity Jumbo Relic Card #'d to 36 or less

The base cards are what you would expect from a high end brand. Well designed, printed on high end cardboard (none of that flimsy stuff) and top notch checklist of players from present to past.

There are 100 cards in the base set.

 

As with any product today, there are parallels. Mine was Astro heavy. The upside down triangle behind the players head helps you differentiate what color you pulled. Besides the numbering.

Now time for the hits in my box!

This is a Triple Threads Unity Single Jumbo Relics. If I am going to get a one color swatch, I want it on a nice looking card as this. The base versions of these are #'d to 36. I pulled a silver that is #d to 27.

My next pull was an Autographed Rookie Card and a dreaded redemption card. Not something I would expect in a high end brand, but I guess it happens. I just wished it had been of a legend or big current player. Doesn't feel right being a rookie. But, I guess some or most of these are on-card so that works.

 

It's called Triple Threads for a reason....Triple the threads. This is an Triple Threads autograph card but it's also a Sapphire parallel numbered to 3. Base versions are numbered to 18.

• Printing Plates - All 1 of 1

My final pull was a biggie, a Triple Threads Jumbo Plus Relic booklet that has 1 player with 3 relics, which include 2 patch pieces and 1 jumbo patch piece and is #d to 3.

I would have listed what each card description is, but I think for the most part they are self explanatory and with so much offered I would be here awhile. They are however all really beautiful cards and I suggest you look some up on eBay or Google to see some of these for yourself. It may help you decide to buy a box other than my review of course ;)

Overall, this is what I would come to expect from a high end brand. Low numbered cards, well designed and some HUGE hits that await. You can't guarantee that every break is going to turn out as well as mine did, but, that's the risk you take with any high end product. This one on the other hand I think has so much to offer that if I was to roll the dice on high end, this would be the one I would take a chance on. 

 

If you can't afford the gamble, definitely get yourself in on a box break or try a mini box. I don't think you will be disappointed.
