Cardboard Review:2021 Topps Stadium Club Chrome

One of the most exciting product rips of the year last year for me was Stadium Club Chrome. Yeah, I enjoy Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome, but SCC puts both to shame with its photography.

Also last year I pulled my first every superfractor which came from this product.

What will 2021 bring....let's check it out.

There are 14 packs of 6 cards per box in 2021 Stadium Club Chrome baseball. There is also one autograph per box and a few refractor parallels. Boxes are roughly $120.

BASE:

I don't remember last year well for this set, but this years base card set is a massive 400 carder. This includes veterans,

And even horror legend IT. Sorry, but this card creeps me out though I do enjoy the colorful photography.

PARALLELS:

You can find the following parallels,

INSERTS:

These 1991 Stadium Club base are technically base card variations but I will include them under inserts anyways. They have the same parallels as base and fall 1:4 packs.

I was just excited to pull the Griffey version. Such a pretty card.

The inserts below have the following parallels,

Wave, Gold /50, Orange /25, Red /5, and SuperFractor 1/1.

 

Crystal Ball has 25 cards and falls 1:14 packs. The Dalbec is the Wave parallel.

 

Virtual Reality has 25 cards and falls 1:14 packs.

Finally, Beam Teams. There are 25 cards that fall 1:4 packs. I want the Griffey!

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

Let's start with money value since most of the hobby is about that, I can't say there is much here for that aspect. There is plenty of big money chasers, just not in my box.

As for the overall product, beautiful. Base cards are fun with the chrome and photography and of course the refractory goodness.

CARDBOARD REVIEW:2019 Topps Triple Threads

As I am typing this, the Nationals lead the Astros 2-1 in the World Series. I can't believe that but it's what I want. First time winners is where it's at after the team you wanted to win gets out and the other teams you dislike are already out as well.

Just hoping the Nationals keep it rolling like Topps and their late season releases.

The latest release is one of my favorites, despite my past no success with the product. I just like the cards themselves.

Let's take a look at how I did in a box of 2019 Topps Triple Threads

In every master box of 2019 Topps Triple Threads, there are two mini boxes. Each mini box has it's own version.

Mini Box Version 1

• 1 Autograph Jumbo Relic or Rookie Autograph (/99 or less)
• 1 Triple Relic (/36 or less)
• 3 Base Cards
• 2 Base Parallel Cards

Mini Box Version 2

• 1 Autograph Triple Relic (/99 or less)

The base set is built up of 100 cards of veterans

 

And legends. No not hit rookies are found in the base set which is a tad disappointing for me. The cards have a very simple but elegant design with extremely thick card. The foil on the card has a rainbow touch to it. I like it and would expect it to be this way for a high end product.

NPN info and odds

OVERALL THOUGHTS: High end products are tough on me. They look great, but my hits are never superb. And it's not like you can expect one Mike Trout autograph per box or a 1/1 logo patch, it's not how the hobby works. Every part of it is a gamble and this is just a higher one. 

For me personally, I wouldn't ever take a gamble on a box even though it was fun to rip. I am just not a risk taker.The product and its hits though can be amazing as I have seen some of them.

If you want in on a box break without paying box prices, I suggest Midwest Box Breaks as they pull fire as they already did with Triple Threads.

Collectin' With Pops

Back when I was younger, my father and I collected many things. From Starting Lineups to magazines to these .50  mugs that came in the quarter machines

To these baseball helmets that did as well (and those football helmets I posted in earlier posts)

 

To Ken Griffey Jr food items, to Wheaties Boxes and so much more over the years including the obvious sport cards. 

Since I moved out, we have kept in contact over the years and have gotten rid of a lot of the "stuff" we once had, but one thing we have held onto is our love of the Yankees, NY Giants and talk of sport cards even with both of us taking a small break at some point in our collecting careers we still discussed them.

A few years ago-I have mentioned this a few times-I got him back into collecting and now he is collecting like crazy. Buying vintage and modern left and right. Faster than I am by far now. I have slowed down due to finances, but he has been a help with trading cards to me to keep my sanity so I can add new ones in.

We have pulled off five trades so far with my latest just arriving. So let's take a look.

First up, a guy we collected a lot of in the 90's, Ken Griffey Jr. This is my first Optic "refractor" of him.

My father bought into the 2017 rookie chase and had me believing that Bellinger would be better than Judge this year. Well.....we were wrong so far.

This was a bonus card he sent just because. I think this may go into my trade pile.

My first official "rookie card" of first pick in the draft Baker Mayfield.

And the second pick...who is also a Giant in Saquon Barkley. This is a Primary Colors insert and marks my second card of his. I WANT MORE!!!!

You can't say ELIte Series without Eli!

And a card I traded for just because I am hoping he pans out. I also like Kenny G's signature and not so much his music. Some of you will get this lame joke.

 

Another solid trade with pops and we are already working out another. I should have that one posted up in the next couple of weeks.

With our trading picking up so much, I am glad we don't collect those other items anymore. Can you imagine what the shipping costs would be???

A Trade, An eBay Pickup And Some Generosity

My mail day momentum from December has so far continued in January. I hope the rest of the year can continue to carry this momentum.

For the third time in less than a year, my father and I decided to pull off a trade again. This time I was unloading some of my hockey hits I am looking to downsize. Right now, hockey hits are at the bottom of my wants but I am still chasing plenty of hockey rookie cards. He doesn't collect hockey either but was looking for some Bruins hits to use in a future trade for himself.

What did I get for a few hockey hits? Some treasures in my opinion.

This Action Packed 24kt Gold parallel cards are not easy to come by and who knows how many actually exist. There weren't even odds on how hard it is to pull these but I busted plenty of this stuff and never saw one pack pulled. My father on the other hand had bought a box of it off from a yard sale and hit this beauty of John Elway. I have wanted it for some time for my 90's PC and finally pried it away.

 

Speaking of finally, added the Aaron Judge Topps Fire rookie. Not that I care a whole lot for the design, but I just wanted one.

 

And finally, the 2017 Topps Gallery Bellinger. I had traded for one already from him but ended up using it to trade for more Judges. But, I wanted another to replace it and luckily he busted plenty of Gallery and was able to provide me another. The Bregman was a bonus card he tossed in.

 

Up next, @PuckJunk from puckjunk.com had thrown up some of his doubles up for grabs for those who wanted them a couple weeks ago. Once again it was a fun selection and one that I had to snag a couple from again. 

 

The Staubach I snagged because I loved the look of the card. The sepia photo of him on that colorful background was very eye pleasing. Robocop 2 was just for my non sport PC. No other reason there.

Shiny cards and shiny cards that involve the man Ken Griffey Jr always grab my attention. So when Matt from Summer Of '74 posted some of his snags from Goodwill I saw that card and needed it. Matt was awesome and PWE'd it out to me. Great guy, great blog and great follow on Twitter if you haven't yet.

 

 

The Giants 2017 season and wide receiver depth was well, not very sharp. However, wide-out Hunter Sharp, cousin of Chiefs Linebacker Derrick Johnson, played pretty sharp down the stretch. Especially in Week 17 against the Redskins where he scored his first NFL TD helping lead the Giants to the win. I am not sure if he will continue to be on the roster next year, but I wanted to snag an autograph of him anyways because once #GiantsPride, always Giants Pride.

REVIEW:2017 Bowman Chrome Mini Baseball Complete Set

Running with this red hot rookie class, why not release a late season season rookie loaded product? Especially by the Home Of The Rookie Card?

Here comes 2017 Bowman Chrome Mini and a review of it.

 

In every set of 2017 Bowman Chrome Mini, there are 273 cards. This set includes ROY winners Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger along with 1st Bowman cards of Ronald Acuna, and many more.

If you weren't already intrigued enough, there is a bonus with this as well. 3 packs of 10 parallels exclusive to these sets. Sets right now are running pretty high at $199. But, looking at the 2017 class, it may be a good investment.

First let's take a look at the base card minis. Pretty cool. It's broken down in Bowman Rookies, Bowman Chrome Rookies, Bowman Prospects and Bowman Chrome Prospects. I will tell you this ahead of time, the cards are not by number in the box : /. But lots of rookies and chrome so I excused that.

 

Like I said, there are 30 parallels per box. Let's take a look at them.

Refractor

Bowman 70th Logo Refractor /70,

Green Refractor /99

Blue Shimmer Refractor #/150

Gold Refractor /50

Orange Refractor /25 and probably my best hit of the box, Rhys Hoskins.

OVERALL:Love the idea, love Chrome and love refractors. However, I don't love the price even though I bet it's worth it with sets and parallels being limited. This is a fun product for player collectors to chase their favorite rookies and prospects rainbows of.
