Cardboard Review:2021 Topps Stadium Club Chrome

One of the most exciting product rips of the year last year for me was Stadium Club Chrome. Yeah, I enjoy Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome, but SCC puts both to shame with its photography.

Also last year I pulled my first every superfractor which came from this product.

What will 2021 bring....let's check it out.

There are 14 packs of 6 cards per box in 2021 Stadium Club Chrome baseball. There is also one autograph per box and a few refractor parallels. Boxes are roughly $120.

BASE:

I don't remember last year well for this set, but this years base card set is a massive 400 carder. This includes veterans,

Legends of the game

And even horror legend IT. Sorry, but this card creeps me out though I do enjoy the colorful photography.

PARALLELS:

You can find the following parallels,

INSERTS:

These 1991 Stadium Club base are technically base card variations but I will include them under inserts anyways. They have the same parallels as base and fall 1:4 packs.

I was just excited to pull the Griffey version. Such a pretty card.

The inserts below have the following parallels,

Wave, Gold /50, Orange /25, Red /5, and SuperFractor 1/1.

 

Crystal Ball has 25 cards and falls 1:14 packs. The Dalbec is the Wave parallel.

 

Virtual Reality has 25 cards and falls 1:14 packs.

Finally, Beam Teams. There are 25 cards that fall 1:4 packs. I want the Griffey!

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

Let's start with money value since most of the hobby is about that, I can't say there is much here for that aspect. There is plenty of big money chasers, just not in my box.

As for the overall product, beautiful. Base cards are fun with the chrome and photography and of course the refractory goodness.

REVIEW:2021 Topps Chrome Baseball

For days now I will admit I have been sulking over the news of Fanatics taking over the card world grabbing up all of the licenses like they were the Grinch at Christmas time. I just hope their heart isn't two sizes too small and that they will give us what we all want, more Topps and especially more Topps Chrome. How they will be able to do that, well that's easy, buy Topps. If you want to keep long time collectors like myself happy, it's the best decision you can make.

I am not sure how I feel otherwise about one company monopolizing the hobby I am ever so passionate about. It's probably comparable to how I felt when Upper Deck lost all of their licenses, which made me feel like a little kid who had lost their favorite stuffed toy. I am still sad about that.

All we can hope for is the best from all of this news as the hobby has been in my life and probably yours a long time. Rooting it on otherwise would mean you aren't a collector in the first place. We want only success here.

In the meantime, I am going to try and enjoy my favorite Topps and Panini products like they are on their last life. And one of those products I get to review today in Topps Chrome.

Topps Chrome has been a yearly staple in my house since 1996 and it's a product my wife has heard me talk her ear off about since we got married. It's like that one favorite family member you look forward to seeing every year.

In every box of 2021 Topps Chrome baseball you will find yourself immersed with 24 packs of 4 cards. Hobby boxes like this one come with 2 autographs and boxes currently run around $220.

BASE:

Topps Chrome is simply chromed up Topps flagship cards, just a much more shortened checklist. It involves veterans and

Rookies in it's checklist. Topps Chrome rookies have been my favorite rookie cards, move over Bowman Chrome, since 1996.

There is 220 cards in this years base set to chase.

PARALLELS:

If you collect Topps Chrome, you know as well as I do, it's all about the refractors and this years edition there is no shortage of them.

Find the following parallels, Refractor, Sepia, Pink, Prism, Negative, Magenta /399, Magenta Speckle /350, Purple /299, Aqua /199, Aqua Wave /199, Blue /150, Green /99, Green Wave /99, Blue Wave /75, Gold /50, Gold Wave /50, Orange /25, Orange Wave /25, Red /5, Red Wave /5, SuperFractor 1/1, and Printing Plates 1/1.

INSERTS:

Have you had enough refractors?? Most likely not, so here are some shiny inserts with the following parallels you may find! Green /99, Gold /50, Orange /25, Red /5, and SuperFractor 1/1.

Prismic Power falls 1:24 packs with 15 cards to chase in the set

Future Stars fall 1:8 packs and has 20 cards to collect. These are probably my favorite insert from Chrome every year.

1986....yawn....inserts again fall 1:6 packs. There are 25 to collect if you aren't sick of their over usage yet lol.

And finally, a new Chrome insert in Beisbol that falls 1:12 packs with 15 cards to chase.

HITS:

2 autographs and they were....

Both rookie pitcher autos....sigh.....at least one was a refractor /499.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

For $220 this box fell way short of value, but it was so much fun to open. I hope to find some retail which is a cheaper option for that thrill.

REVIEW:2019 Topps Heritage Baseball

We will be taking a break today from seeing my time travels back to the 90's and enjoying a new rip from 2019 in Topps Heritage.

In the beginning of every baseball season, I don't know about you, but you gotta dip your hands into every product release that comes out early on. It's just what you do to build up the anticipation.

This year Topps Heritage is bringing back the 1970 Topps Design which I rather enjoyed.

Let's check out how my rip went shall we?

 

In every box of 2019 Topps Heritage baseball, there are 24 packs of 9 cards. You will find one hit per box with either an autograph or relic card. Hobby Boxes run roughly $90 currently.

 

Also in every box are these Box Toppers. Here is what you can find for options on those, 1970 Topps Super Baseball above, as well as 2019 Topps Teammates, 1970 Poster Box Loader and 1970 Topps Originals cards that are stamped buybacks from the original set.

 

My find was Juan Soto. Not a bad way to kick off the box.

 

The base set is the 1970's Topps baseball design which looks even sharper today. I wasn't normally a fan of products that brought back old designs for new players but some of them just look fantastic. This years does for sure.

There are 500 cards in the base set including 100 Sp's.

  

Some players are even found in their new digs like this James Paxton. He looks good in pinstripes by the way.

  

I promised this year I would post the card backs to every base card and here is this one. Pretty sharp with lots of stats.

 

The CMP for base sends in 92.

There are plenty of base card subsets to find as well in this 500 card checklist.

And the base card Sp I spoke earlier about. There are roughly eight to find per box with their 1:3 odds. I do like the Sp's done like this in a base set as it puts added value on building a base card set.

  

CMP code for the Sp's ends in 12.

I always mention the CMP codes on the back becuae they will be your best friend when it comes to telling the difference between a base and short print or variation. Otherwise, good luck telling the difference without a full gallery. 

Here are the CMP codes to watch out for,

• Base ends in 92
• Base SP ends in 12
• French Text ends in 93
• Silver Metal ends in 20
• Error ends in 21
• Trade  ends in 22
• Throwback ends in 23
• Action Image ends in 24
• Team Name Color ends in 25
• Nickname ends in 26

 I found two of these in my break,

 Back that ends in 93 and the obvious french words on it. The French Text Sp falls 1:145 packs.

Back. The number ends in 24 which makes it an Action Image that falls 1:41

I think there are a few too many of these type of short prints in here now. I am okay with a couple, but 8 feels a little un-needed.

 

100 of the base cards get the Chrome treatment that falls 1:58 packs. These have parallels as well of urple Hot Box, Refractor /570, Black /70, Gold /5, SuperFractor 1/1.

There are inserts to find as well with that throwback feel with silver border.

 

New Age Performers that fall 1:6 packs with 25 cards in the set.

 

Then And Now falls 1:18 packs and has 15 cards in the set.

 

Baseball Flashbacks 1:18 packs with 15 cards to collect.

 

News Flashbacks 1:18 packs with 15 cards to collect.

 

And finally, Play Baseball Scratch off that falls 1:24 packs. There are 15 cards to chase. This is the front.

Now onto the hit. I will say from personal experience and from others opinions, if you bust Heritage just to hit chase, you will be left disappointed 98% of the time. This isn't one of those types of products. This is a product built around the flashback feels and remembering what once was combined with what is. This isn't a Topps Museum type of product.

However, you will have those 2% of times you will end up VERY happy.

My hit of the box which isn't any surprise is a relic. That's typical.

OVERALL: Like I said earlier, if you are here to chase hits, this product probably isn't for you even though it does have some big ones to find. This is more of a collector product. One that enjoys the throwback designs of yesterday and especially for the set collectors with the massive base and Sp set to chase.

This was a fun break and if you enjoyed this product in the past you will again. Or if you simply liked the 1970 Topps design the first time you will here again as well.

A cheaper way to possibly land a hit in a break like this would be to buy into a box break which I suggest Midwest Box Breaks when you do so.
