Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Topps Inception Magenta /99

(Previously posted on Big Blue Cardboard. All Rodney's Cardboard posts from here on out will be cross-posted)

It's October and we are already one month into the football season.

Crazy!

Today the NY Giants (1-3) travel to New Orleans (0-4) to take on the Saints. Records are always out the door in games like this. It could go either way, I just hope it's my way.

While we all wait for kickoff, let's take a look at a new Rodney.

This is the Magenta parallel, not be confused with the red parallel though looks pretty similar.

I really like the look of Inception this year and have more to chase whenever they pop up. The base Hampton is still like chasing the 1/1 at this juncture. I am surprised that someone out there doesn't have it!

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great Sunday. God Bless!

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Collectors Edge Excalibur Sword And Stone Diamond Parallel

We are still rolling in the Rodney's, and I still have more to show.

I am really lost with this year of Collectors Edge sets. There are so many parallels, so many inserts and they all sound and sometimes look the same. The easiest way for me to do these, is just look up to make sure I don't have it. That's my only tell-tale.
I do know though, that the diamond parallel is the hardest one to chase in the series. I have one for the base and now have one for assumingly is an insert.

Card back.

I do have a few parallels of this chase for Rodney and at some point I will round them all up and show them off.

Thanks again to Wes for sending this one along.

Rodney's Cardboard:2023 Certified Blue Autograph /30

Rodney's back, back again. Today's card is so far my favorite one of the run.

When a card can match the team featured, it's always a big draw. Today's is the Blue Parallel and is numbered to just 30 copies.

Card back looks the same as the rest in the series.

Here is an overall look at the chase in 2023 Certified for Rodney,
Base /199, Bronze /99, Pink /75, Orange /50Red /35Blue /30Teal /25, Gold /15, Purple /10, Green /5, and Black 1/1.

Here are the cards I have posted so far from this run,

More from this run and others to come. Hope to see you back next Sunday for the next one!

Only Wanted One, But Ended Up With Two

We all know that Crystal didn't play for the Yankees, but in 2008 he got to celebrate his 60th birthday in style by signing a minor league contract for the Yankees so he could get one at-bat with the team in a spring training game against the Pirates. This was something Derek Jeter suggested for the long time Yankee fan to do to celebrate the big day. Crystal chopped at one pitch but ended up striking out in the end. It was still a very memorable moment for him and is the first time I have ever heard of an experience for a celebrity like this to do.

To celebrate the moment, Tristar put out an Sp card of him in their 2008 Projections product. Crystal was card number 400 in the set.
I originally just wanted the one base card, which finally I landed for $2 after waiting patiently for a couple of years, but I also landed the parallel.

The graded Reflectives parallel of the card was had for less than $10. I couldn't let it go for that price to someone else especially when it looks even better than the base.

Now with two of the cards from the product, it really makes me want to get the autograph version to. Not that I can afford to, but maybe I will luck out some day and find a cheap copy if I am patient enough.

Thoughts on the card and your favorite Billy Crystal movie is welcomed in comments!

Rodney's Cardboard:1997 Pinnacle Inside Gridiron Gold

The first Rodney of the New Year comes thanks to my friend Tim @CardpocalypseNC.

Today's card is not an easy one to find. In my almost five years of collecting Rodney, I have only seen this one twice. Once I missed, a second time I wasn't going to. Which is where Tim came in with the save.

These silver foil cards are die cut, with a gold foil touch and fall 1:63 packs or in Pinnacle Inside terms, cans.

The back is the same other than the parallel name.

Thanks again to Tim for the help.

Have a great Sunday!
