Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Collectors Edge Excalibur Sword And Stone Diamond Parallel

We are still rolling in the Rodney's, and I still have more to show.

I am really lost with this year of Collectors Edge sets. There are so many parallels, so many inserts and they all sound and sometimes look the same. The easiest way for me to do these, is just look up to make sure I don't have it. That's my only tell-tale.
I do know though, that the diamond parallel is the hardest one to chase in the series. I have one for the base and now have one for assumingly is an insert.

Card back.

I do have a few parallels of this chase for Rodney and at some point I will round them all up and show them off.

Thanks again to Wes for sending this one along.

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Classic Images Live Printing Plate

(there isn't a lot to say about these plates as I have many to post. They are 1/1's, they are legit as you can tell the use from the backing which is completely silver, they all came from one seller, and they all came to me via Wes who blogged for Area 40 blog. Thanks Wes!)

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Topps Mystery Refractor With Rare Peel

Happy Sunday to you all!

Who wants to check out the latest Rodney Hampton card addition to my super PC?

You do!! Well, that's good because here it is!

Today's card is a bit of a rare one. You don't find these too often if not at all.

In 1995, Topps included Mystery Finest and Mystery Finest Refractors in their flagship product. With these being a Mystery card, you didn't normally get to see the card or player until you peel off the black covering.

However, my latest Rodney find, it doesn't have the usual black peeling you would find on those cards. Instead, it has the usual Finest Do Not Peel covering. It's a rare unique card and I have no intention of peeling it off.

The back of the card is the same along with the front image and refractor. It's just got the Do Not Peel instead of the black covering which makes this one a one of a kind.

This may be one of the most unique and nicest looking oddballs in my Rodney collection and I am not sure if there will ever be another oddball that will top it.

This card arrived to me at Christmas time thanks to my friend Wes, formally of Area40 blog who found it.

Let me know your thoughts on the card in comments and if you have ever seen one before.

Hope you have had a great day!

Throwpack Thursday:1995 Fleer Ultra Baseball Series 2

It's time I finally get this new segment underway. It's one I have been planning on doing for a while and hope to do as often as I can.

Throwpack Thursday is where I will take an older pack of cards from a variety of sports and some non-sports and open it up on here, talk about the "hits" and a few of the players.

Take note how I called it an "older" pack of cards instead of vintage. I refuse to call anything from the 80's and 90's vintage. It drives me nuts for those who do! I am not vintage either!

Today's pack comes from one of my favorite brands from the 90's, Fleer Ultra. But, it wasn't until 1995 where I really started to appreciate what the brand brought to the table.

I don't think I opened more than a couple of packs of the 1995 baseball as opposed to the many, many football packs I ripped. Today's pack will be a nice reminder to me on what it looked like.

First some details on today's pack.
1995 Fleer Ultra Series 2 had 12 cards per pack. Each pack comes with one Gold Medallion and one Insert.

Now onto the rip.

One thing that jumps out to me as I see the first card is a clean design. Very basic, full photography. Not bad.
The first card in the packs reveals us the Gold Medallion parallel. It isn't quite as exciting as the football version that is completely covered in gold. At least it was a player I knew. Harold had multiple stints with the White Sox, won a World Series and was a 6x All-Star.

"Rookie" of Ismael Valdes. It's hard to tell baseball's true rookies. Ismael played for eight teams including two stints with the Dodgers. Was one game under .500 for his pitching career.

All-Rookie insert fall 1:5 packs overall. One of the easier inserts to pull. John played six seasons and was an All-Star in 1994.

Second "rookie card" in the pack. Jeff Cirillo played for more than 10 years and was a two-time all-star. Very underrated player and hobby guy.

And we finish the pack with Cliff Floyd sporting the Expos colors. I remember him most when he played for the Marlins.

There wasn't anything too exciting in this pack. I will probably use most of the cards except the All-Rookie insert for trade bait. That All-Rookie goes into my 90's insert PC.

I hope you enjoyed today's introduction into this new segment. There is more to come.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

TV Week

In the 90's, cards were offered in all forms.

They were in cereals, they were on boxes, they were food issued, in newspapers and were even free in magazines.

It makes me wished I had hoarded my magazines and not tossed them.

But, can't go back in time yet.

*come on DeLorean*

Recently when searching for Seinfeld cards, I discovered TV Week-the magazine that talked about your favorite TV shows and had guides to I believe-offered cards in their weekly magazine. Not sure if it was every week the cards appeared or how they even were included, but they were because I have proof!

Upon my research, I found out that Seinfeld has one but that was way out of reach for me with most running up in the $70 range. It's probably considered the rookie card of Seinfeld since it came before the 2011 Topps American Pie release.

So, I looked at a few other shows I wanted instead that were more in my range.
Like Home Improvement. Absolutely died laughing at this show every week. Tim Allen did a great job with his character along with the supporting cast.

And how cool is this to see a fan mail address, wonder what it would get me now if I wrote to it....

I was hoping once Last Man Standing ended that Tim would revive this show again but so far, nothing.

The next show my parents wouldn't let me watch, for some reason horror was okay but not Rosanne.
So, when I got older, I began watching it and really enjoyed it.

I even enjoyed the revival of the show when they brought it back on ABC, it felt like it never left and it was fun how they included "today's times" into it, until they fired Rosanne for a few comments made. I didn't watch a single minute of The Conners.

Other than the Seinfeld one, I would love to add The Simpsons and The Nanny ones. Maybe someday.

Thoughts on these cards and if you have any in your collection welcomed below in comments.

Kerry's Cardboard:1995 Signature Rookies SR Force Football Autograph

I have a few Collins autographs in my collection, but there are still plenty of other ones I need.

Today's pickup was a cheap one that I was the only bidder on.

There was a lot of cards to chase in the 1995 Signature Rookies line including multiple autograph cards. So far, I have two of them in my collection including this one.

Notice that there are two types of numbering going on this card which took me until this post to notice. I have to assume the /5000 is the basic version of this card since the autograph is /2500. I am not sure I have ever seen a card numbered like this before.

The back of the card gives stats from his college football years.

Thoughts on my latest Kerry Collins add is welcome in comments.

If you have any Kerry Collins you think I may need, check out this LINK first to see if I already have them. If I don't, contact me.

Tradin' With Tim

As I posted awhile back, I am buried in mail days and needing to take about a million pictures. Someday I will get there, if it's only a few pictures at a time.

Today's is one of the oldest mail days I have been sitting on to show off and it's from my buddy Tim, aka, @CardpocalypseNC.

We recently pulled off a trade, well, somewhat (more on that soon) and he sent his end to me first. As for his end, I have no idea what he wants quiet yet but being the great guy he is, he is patient on his return.

For now, I will show off my end of the trade.
Obi Toppin Rookie from Hoops.

Quickley yellow parallel from Absolute Memorabilia

Some Gmen!

Outstanding Giants sticker.

Metal Universe!! I will take all I can get.....

Especially when they are this cool!

Tim has always been great about set help chasing for me and once again helped this time with my 1995 Ultra Gold Medallion chase,

This was help for the second series. I am also chasing the first series.

A couple new Griffeys, of course I chase Griffeys with eye appeal first.

Anna K cards. Can't complain about these.

Megan Rapinoe. I didn't land her in my box break, so Tim passed one of his dupes along.

I have another card to show off, but that will wait for another day, another....blog?

Thanks again Tim for the trade and I am looking forward to the next one.

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Classic NFL Experience Back Plate

Back to front, front to back. Printing plates can be fun.

I don't see many back plates today, but I own a few from the 90's.

This is the back plate of another plate I recently showed off on here.

Once again, there isn't much to show on the opposite side other than a plain sheet of metal plate.

Thanks again to Shane for the addition as he has really helped me along with these. As we will see with another next week, so stay tuned!

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Classic NFL Experience Printing Plate

Rodney is back and I have a new one to show off thanks to my buddy Shane of Cheap Wax Wednesday fame.

Today's Printing Plate marks my 6th plate I have of Rodney in my collection.

This plate is from the 1995 Classic NFL Experience set. I didn't bother posting the back of the plate since these ones are typically just a blank back.

These 90's plates I feel are a bit tougher to land then plates from today. If it's not obvious, it's because they are from the 90's and who knows how they were distributed.

Another plate down and more...wait what did I just put...more to come.
