Kerry's Cardboard:1996 Presidents Reserve Air Force One

It's another football packed Sunday and even though my Giants have played like a 1-star high school team, I am still on board and still rooting for them to win. 

I am not a fan of a team tanking for a number one draft pick. I am all about the winning, though I do want a new Quarterback next year. Sorry Daniel Jones, it's time.

If only Kerry Collins was still ready to play, he could have filled in for Jones this season and maybe things would be different. But, that boat has sailed.

At least I still can still add some Kerry's Cardboard.

Randomly inserted in packs at a rate of one in 16, my latest add is from the all-acetate product Presidents Reserve which was a one-year and done product by Collectors Edge. 

This 38-card set featured the best of the long ball threats in the league. It's a two-way-view plastic card with some added shine. Each card is individually numbered out of 2,500.

 

As with most 90's cards, once again, this one shines above anything from today.

This was my first Collins add in awhile, may need to put some focus on him again.

Well, Giants, this Collins shined today, hoping you will as well against Washington.

Kerry's Cardboard:1996 Action Packed Longest Yard

Fun inserts comes to mind when I am putting together my Kerry Collins collection.

Sure, there are plenty of base cards I could chase for cheaper, but I want to tackle the fun stuff first.

For example, 1996 Action Packed Longest Yard.

These shiny embossed background cards that fell 1:24 packs draws your eyes right in. Absolutely love it and love the football background.

These are the type of Kerry Collins cards that make me smile even not in a Giants uniform.

Just like with the Eli Mannings, I figured it was time to play catch up with Kerry Collins and my latest adds of him from Burbank Sportcards.

First up, a Topps Gold Label Premium parallel.

These are numbered to 1000. These are tougher than the amount of finding them.

A year where the regular silver refractors were numbered to 999

Now a cool die-cut, Aspirations parallel /95. Sharp card especially in person. I was stoked when I saw this on Burbank

One corner on this one is iffy, but these are tough finds so I will take it as is.

Kerry's Cardboard:2003 Fleer Ultra Platinum Medallion /100

We go from one former NY Giants QB yesterday, to another former one today in the newest Kerry's Cardboard addition.

I have Kerry Collins as a saved search on eBay so I can keep track of cool cards and watch them when I see them. I don't always have the funding to grab them, but when I do, I try to add the toughest ones first.

Today's card is a Platinum Medallion. There were no odds on these back in 2003 Fleer Ultra, but they are numbered to 100 so they are not easy to find. Just like any of the Ultra Platinum Medallions throughout the years.

The front of the card has a silver/platinum tint to it.

 

The back is numbered to 100 and has the words Platinum Medallion. Wouldn't it be nice if some of today's products listed what they actually are? Especially Mosiac. Some of those parallels are really hard to tell.

This is so far the only Platinum Medallion I own of Kerry. I will need to chase the others down at some point.

Kerry's Cardboard:1997 Donruss Preferred Stare Master

Welcome back to a NEW Kerry's Cardboard.

In my recent mail day from Burbank Sportcards Beckett Marketplace I made sure to grab quite a few of the Panthers and Giants legend to add to my collection. 

I also just found out he has Twitter I will be sure to tag him in :)

Today's card has all of the makings of greatness like the player on it. Shiny, creative and numbered from the 90's. These Stare Masters, not to be confused with Stair Masters, were randomly inserted in tins of 1997 Donruss Preferred.

The card front features Kerry staring at himself.

 

The back shows the card numbering to 1500 and a small writeup about Kerry's Pro Bowl year in 1996.

This was one of my favorite card adds in the mail day from Burbank.

Kerry's Cardboard:2003 Fleer Mystique Awe Pairs Dual Game Jersey w/Jeremy Shockey

Kerry's Cardboard finds a new home again as the Giants only portion of my Kerry Collins collection makes it way on here.

Today, I am showcasing a game worn dual jersey card that I landed for less than $5.

Today's card features two of my favorite Giants of the 2000's. I think a lot of people forget about the impact that Kerry Collins had on the Giants passing game after signing with them. He also had an impact on Jeremy Shockey when he came into the league in 2002. They were an unstoppable force for a couple of years before the Giants released Collins in favor of Kurt Warner/Eli Manning in 2004.

So, there is a lot of cards that feature the two on them. This is the only copy I have seen of this card listed.

 

This is the back of the card. Only 199 of these were produced.

There are two other variations of this card which are in form of inserts. There is a base insert and a gold parallel which is extremely tough to find.

Kerry's Cardboard:1995 Signature Rookies SR Force Football Autograph

I have a few Collins autographs in my collection, but there are still plenty of other ones I need.

Today's pickup was a cheap one that I was the only bidder on.

There was a lot of cards to chase in the 1995 Signature Rookies line including multiple autograph cards. So far, I have two of them in my collection including this one.

Notice that there are two types of numbering going on this card which took me until this post to notice. I have to assume the /5000 is the basic version of this card since the autograph is /2500. I am not sure I have ever seen a card numbered like this before.

 

The back of the card gives stats from his college football years.

Kerry's Cardboard:2000 Collector's Edge Odyssey

 

 

It has been a long time since I have added any cards to my Kerry Collins pc and I figured it was time I did so. Sad thing is, I traded for this card and can't remember who I acquired it from. Starting to think it's time I write down on stick-it notes who I acquire cards from since it has taken me awhile to post a lot of them right now.

Regardless, I haven't given up on collecting Kerry he just isn't a top focus right now. I will take what I can get however and my checklist of needs is back up on the blog and can be found HERE.

Kerry's Cardboard:1997 Topps Gallery Gallery Of Heroes

One of my favorite insert lines of the 90's, yes I have many favorites so I use that line a lot, was Gallery Of Heroes from Topps Gallery.

I never actually ever pulled one or even saw one up close, til I bought the Griffey from 2000 Topps Gallery, but have always wanted one from 1997 THE OG of the insert line.

I have tried a few times to land a Griffey, but the prices were out of my cheap price range.

I also tried to land a Kerry Collins three different times with no good outcomes.

Til try number four.

It was cheap and I was the only bidder, so it was mine.

These inserts fell 1:36 packs on average and feature a stained glass background and acetate see-thru.

It's really hard to capture the card in a picture but I tried my best by standing it up.

Pretty happy to land this one and had landed it cheap. I don't think Kerry was featured in any of the other years of Gallery Of Heroes so I own the one and only year of it. Otherwise, those would be my next "for sure" chases.

Kerry's Cardboard:1998 Finest No Protector Refractor

To Peel Or Not To Peel, that is the question.

Except in 1998.

Finest came with two versions of their Topps Finest in 1998. Say hello to cards with Protector and No Protector. How will my OCD deal with that, well, it would have to deal.

I never once peeled off a peel from a Finest card. Couldn't do it. Now Topps included peeled versions already in packs as a parallel and even gave them a refractor parallel.

The No Protector regular versions fell 1:2 packs while the refractor versions like todays card fell 1:24 packs.

The cool thing about these cards is the back is as shiny as the front.

This Collins went up for bid auction and went so cheap that even I could afford it.

I need the other versions of the 1998 base as this is my start, hopefully will be able to knock those down soon.

Kerry's Cardboard:1997 Pacific Invincible Pop Prize Card

Today's card gives me more questions than answers.

I don't have a lot of information on this card other than it takes 4 "pop up" redemption cards to get one of these prize cards in which I guess you weren't even guaranteed to land the guy featured? If any of you have any further info, please enlighten me below.

 

None the less, the card is pretty cool. I thought by the look of the card would give an acetate approach since it was Invincible but that wasn't the case at all.

I have always liked how Pacific labels their inserts as some are really hard to tell the difference on especially since theirs don't have labels.

I now have this prize card along with one un-used Pop Redemption. I hope to chase down the rest if I am reading this right about these.

Kerry's Cardboard:1996 Collectors Edge Quantum Motion

This weeks Kerry's Cardboard is brought to you buy the number 1...because that's all I paid for it.

However, it took quite the journey to get here.

After waiting 15 days without getting this one which was assumed lost in the mail, I contacted the seller who luckily had another on hand and sent it out this time with tracking. I thanked him. Not many sellers I bet worry about a $1 card getting lost in the mail and probably refund.

I didn't want a refund. I wanted what I bought.

Quantum Motion fell 1:36 packs back in 1996 and uses lenticular technology like Sportflix, where you flip the card just slightly and the image moves.

These are always so hard to capture in just a picture. I really need to figure out how to make a GIF

Kerry's Cardboard:1997 Donruss Studio Stained Glass Stars

Today's Kerry Collins comes in hot!

1997 Donruss Studio, you know the oversized cards, randomly inserted a pretty slick looking insert called Stained Glass Stars into it's product.

The 24 card set included some of the biggest names in football at the time and looks just like a stained glass. But, it's acetate.

Kerry was on the checklist and I was the only bidder to bring this one home

Each of the 24 cards are limited to 1,000 each.

I previously got one of these before from Dennis from Too Many Verlanders of Michael Irvin so I already knew what I was getting when I bid on this.

Most of the higher names in this set can go for $25, so for me, a set chase is most likely out of question even though it would be fun and quite the good looking set. I would also question how to display/store such a set.

Kerry's Cardboard:2000 Sp Authentic Buyback Autograph

I have some great Kerry Collins autographs, but one of the cooler ones I have is this 2000 Sp Authentic Buyback auto.

I had my eye on this card for sometime and finally messaged the seller who had it listed for the longest time and made an offer and they took it. My guess was they wanted to unload it so they just took the offer so they wouldn't have to re-list it again.

The autograph is on card and numbered to 202. there is a lower numbered version of this one as well. I believe that's on a different card signed.

The one thing I find off about this autograph this time is the fact that Kerry usually signs with his jersey number and this time didn't. Maybe he went through a stage of not doing so.

The autograph also came with this certificate of auth and

matching number sticker on the back of the card so you know its real.

Kerry's Cardboard:Some Cool Adds

I really love it when I can just take a handful of Collins cards and showcase them all at once. Unlike my Rodney Hamptons, Kerry Collins flow in fast and all at once.

I have been fortunate that I have found some collectors who send me them and others trade them to me. Not to mention the cheap ones I add myself.

So to continue to catch myself up, here is a bunch of Kerry's for your viewing!

This one caugh my eye immediately. Cheap, beautiful die cut.

And it's numbered and in good condition....sign me up again!

Another Kerry autograph add. I still havea such a long ways to go with adding his autographs. The one I really want is the 1995 Proline Classic but can't ever find one under $10.

This big easy card was super cool. Numbered and everything....

Even the back was...

Until I took the card out of the holder. I don't have a picture of it but the card was snapped in two and the seller never mentioned it to me. So I won't be crossing this one off from my list and will need another copy. This card is printed on a thick plastic which is why the card snapped.

I was not pleased.

And then came this 1997 Flair Hot Hands I had my eye on for awhile. I just couldn't justify pouring the money out for it as I found it was a little steep. That's until I found out that these fell 1:90 packs which is probably one in a few boxes back then.

The card had a price of $35 on it which I bet was the price point back then in Beckett. I landed it for about $7 shipped which is what they are going for. So not going to complain and these aren't easy to come by.
