Father's Day

My father wasn't the best role model or someone you would brag to your friends about, but he did the fatherliest thing a father could do and that was spending time with his kid.

A lot of my childhood memories come from spending time with him.

Whether that was playing backyard baseball, football and basketball or playing a football game on a Sega system we would rent from the video store or watching NY Giants football together. I would also go to his work and take tours and get home from school and go watch him play softball. We also spent a lot of time enjoying the sport card hobby we had together with sorting, looking up values in Beckett and planning our next pickups.

Moments were being made every minute we were together.

I ended up following in his footsteps for the music he enjoyed, the teams he rooted on, the talk-to-anyone jokingly personality and some of how I collect cards. I took on what I considered were the good traits from him.

Even though I took on some of his card collecting traits, I also began my own collecting journey as well. Despite being a big time NY fan, he never actually collected any of the New York teams or players, but I do.

One of those players is soon-to-be Hall Of Famer, Eli Manning. These are my latest additions from a multiple websites,

(20/20 eBay 1/1!)

(my first Shockey/Eli dual relic)

The final card which features Super Bowl 42 with the Eli escape and Tyree helmet catch, is another connection between my father and myself. It marks the first time we got to watch and celebrate a Giants Super Bowl win together and what a way to do so.

Even though our lives are busier now, that Super Bowl was actually the last game we watched together, he still finds a way to spend time with me with daily phone call or Facebook messenger check-ins. Most conversations start and end with cards, but there are discussions of life as well.

Happy Father's Day dad. I don't think you will see this, but if you happen to be looking up cards and do, I hope you enjoy this.

Also, Happy Father's Day to the rest of the fathers, stepdads and fatherly figures out there. Have a great day and take some time out for yourself today. But, also remember why you are being celebrated today and celebrate with them as well.

Kerry's Cardboard:2003 Fleer Mystique Awe Pairs Dual Game Jersey w/Jeremy Shockey

Kerry's Cardboard finds a new home again as the Giants only portion of my Kerry Collins collection makes it way on here.

Today, I am showcasing a game worn dual jersey card that I landed for less than $5.

Today's card features two of my favorite Giants of the 2000's. I think a lot of people forget about the impact that Kerry Collins had on the Giants passing game after signing with them. He also had an impact on Jeremy Shockey when he came into the league in 2002. They were an unstoppable force for a couple of years before the Giants released Collins in favor of Kurt Warner/Eli Manning in 2004.

So, there is a lot of cards that feature the two on them. This is the only copy I have seen of this card listed.

This is the back of the card. Only 199 of these were produced.

There are two other variations of this card which are in form of inserts. There is a base insert and a gold parallel which is extremely tough to find.

Thoughts on today's card welcomed in comments.

Lots Of Blue

I have shown off most of the trade mail day I did with Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday, now it's time to show off the rest in what may.be the last post on here.

Why could this be the last post when football season is just around the corner? Well, the realization of running three blogs is starting to take it's toll. This one, the least favorite of readers, would be the first sacrifice I will make. Could there be another blog leaving after this decision? There may be. Am I shutting the door completely on this blog? No but for now any future NY Giants posts will take place on Matt's Wonderful Blog Of Hobbies.

So, I say let's go out with a bang if this is the way it completely ends by showing off some great Giants cards I got from Shane.

Here is the gallery,

Some great cards huh? I agree.

Thanks again to Shane for the trade.

And thanks to you guys for checking out today's post!

$25 A Week Challenge: A Giant Pick Up

Well I hope you guys have enjoyed this new segment towards the end of the year, I hope it can continue through next year as well!

For the final $25 purchase of 2019, I went NY Giants.

With so much disappointment in this team in 2019, I have been able to grab some cheap cards of some of their top players as prices have dipped some.

Today's lot I felt I got for an absolute steal. Of course I got it from a seller who didn't have many transactions with less than 20 which is totally against my normal. I usually go for buyers over 100 and they have to be at least 98% rating as well. I don't want to be ripped off and haven't been yet because of my rule. But, I have also missed out on some deals.

Not this time.

This lot was originally listed as a Saquon Barkley lot but it had a few nice bonuses in it that were the deal makers for me.

Like this 2019 Saquon lot, I do have them all but hey why not.

However these are all new to me and includes a blue press proof parallel.

Saquon rookies. Prizm is the hottest rookie card out there for base card rookies so can't go wrong with another one of Saquon. The Luminance and Passport ones I didn't have.

More Saquon rookies. I have most.

But not this rookie numbered to 399.

Or this Playoff Red Zone parallel

Or even this Optic rookie.

The lot alone right there felt worth it but then came the extras

Evan Engram relic

Saquon Barkley Certified New Generation Orange /299 relic

Whaaaa DeSean Hamilton (whoever that is) and Saquon Barkely dual relic from Immaculate. Can you imagine how much this must have been last year?

This one was interesting. Sterling Shepard auto? Sterling usually signs his name S.Shepard but I noticed that some of the Select autographs from this year were full names. Just kind of curious to me whether these are real or not.

And finally a Jeremy Shockey signed Elements metal autograph numbered to 99.

All of this....was for $25 and $3 shipping til I made an offer of $20 that was accepted! So all of this was for $20 and $3 shipping for this weeks grand total of $23. $23!!

More great pickups to show off in 2020. It felt weird and looks weird typing that out.

I Get The Eli-Sation....

Every time I rip into a @Brent3323 mail day I get the Eli-sation that I am floating on air above the stadium where the Giants won this upcoming years Super Bowl. Well, one can dream can't they?

Once again @Brent3323 sent my mail day before I was expecting it. I have been trying to prep a return for him but now will have to hurry my way faster. Every Brent mail day comes with some surprises as well which always gets my attention.

Let's check out what he passed along this time.

A great assorment of Giants in which he also hand wrote a note wishing us a great season. He is a fellow Giants fan as well.

One of my favorite TE's ever to watch. This guy could easily control a game with his aggressive play. A lot of people didn't like him, but I did. He could shove a guy to the ground and run for 40 yards.

A couple more Giants and a couple of new 2019 rookies

Ryan Lindley who looked pretty solid in the game vs the Giants, my first card of his and D.K. Metcalf who a lot of people, especially Seahawk fans are excited about.

These are so shiny...they gonna make me kick my hiney

 Mr. Jones!

This was a pretty cool surprise...some kind of parallel from Rookies And Stars of Andre Williams numbered 4/5!

I don't know if it's the Strata autograph relic why I wanted this or the fact I have at least another 4 West autos that I thought would be fun to add another. Either way, it's here.

This guy has looked solid with the Patriots. I traded away another auto I had so wanted to add another

This guy will be soon out of the NFL. Even for the Redskins he can't block. I hope he stays so he faces the Giants but I don't think he does. I collect Giants cards so no matter if he is a bust or not, he is a Giant and I will add him.

 #Prospecting

A couple of really sweet patches of Andre Williams. One is an extra points parallel /100

And the final card is a Kenneth Dixon auto jersey. NFL Prospecting for me I guess. I also liked the Phoenix auto cards.

And that's it for another awesome Brent mail day.

Thanks again Brent for the mail day. I wasn't quite ready for it yet but it was exciting to see. I have still got to hit you back here sometime with a bigger one when I get shipping funds and sorting done.
