Eli's Countdown: Eli #1,052

Today's Eli brings me another step closer to 1100.

I picked up this latest Eli in a Twitter trade. I lost the Twitter @, but I already posted a thank you with this card on there.

This is a gold parallel from 2023 Classics featuring Eli and running back great Tiki Barber.

The card is numbered to 99.

This is my first and only one of these in the run of these inserts. I wouldn't mind owning a few others and might for my chase to 1100.

More Eli to come!

A Mosaic Addition!

You are in for a shiny Tuesday!

I was in trade talks with someone for my very first Kadarius Toney Mosaic card and the trade talks fell through as I didn't have quite what the trader needed. However, this wasn't the end of me landing the Toney. Being the kindhearted person @lordremix876 was, he ended up sending me the Toney along with a few friends as well.
Here is the Toney, it's the NFL Debut subset and a silver Prizm. These look so sharp in person!

Mosaic Camo Pink of Giants legend Tiki Barber.

Andrew Thomas Optic silver. Thomas is still the anchor and the best player on the Gmen's offensive line. I hope he can continue his growth this year, Daniel Jones needs it.

Speaking of Daniel Jones, a pink camo Mosaic of him. This is a big break or make year for Jones under the new regime. He has got to show something or he will be gone.

Thanks again to @lordremix876 for the newest additions. It made my week.

Thoughts on these additions or the players welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day:1998 Topps Generation 2000 Tiki Barber

Tiki Barber is one of many on the list of great NY Giants running backs, but for some reason is a player I never quite chased cards of compared to the others on that list.

It wasn't that I didn't like Barber or enjoy watching him play, I really don't have a reason for not have adding many cards of him.

Instead, I am now starting to add a few of his cards to fill in some gaps. Most of the ones I target of him are from the 90's, you know, the greatest era of collecting.

Today's addition came from my buddy Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame. He is the king of finding 90's inserts for me from card shows he attends.

This 1998 Topps Generation 2000 card fell 1:18 packs and was a 15-card set featuring some of the top young talent in the game at that time. The front of the card is foil with some added rainbow shine from the 2000 on the front.

The back features information on the player and the comparisons they have to other top players in their rookie seasons.

Thanks to Shane for this latest add.

Thoughts on Barber, the card or a running back from your team that you didn't quite collect until later on are welcomed in comments.

Eli's Cardboard:2006 Absolute Memorabilia Team Trios

I miss the days of the Giants playing winning football, I am hoping to see that return soon.

The trio on today's card brought them plenty of wins.
Eli to Plax was an unstoppable force and throwing some Tiki in balanced out the offense. It's just too bad that Barber retired before having the chance to win that ring.

This card is /200

I picked up this card for my Eli Manning collection from Burbank Sportcards.

A Mosaic Addition!

It's a dreary Monday both in weather form and the fact that it's Monday, but on Big Blue Cardboard, I am trying to brighten things up some.

In a shiny way of course.

I was in trade talks with someone for my very first Kadarius Toney Mosaic card and the trade talks fell through as I didn't have quite what the trader needed. Single Card Mail Day:2005 Topps 50th Box Topper Tribute Tiki Barber

It's Friday and time for a new post on Big Blue Cardboard.

As I stated in one of my previous posts, I have been starting to add a few Tiki Barber cards here and there when I can. I mostly try to stay with cooler ones such as relics, 90's inserts and anything that shines.

Today's card from Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame falls into one of those categories.

I don't have a lot of detail on these cards, but I assume being a Box Topper it must have been included as one in 2005 Topps football.

There appears to be 50 cards in the 50th anniversary set, makes sense doesn't it, and each card is numbered to 1199. Tiki is card 26 in the set even though I would have slated him as card 21 myself.

Thanks to Shane for the latest addition to my Big Blue and Tiki Barber collection.

Thoughts on this card is welcomed in comments.

Lots Of Blue

I have shown off most of the trade mail day I did with Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday, now it's time to show off the rest in what may.be the last post on here.

Why could this be the last post when football season is just around the corner? Well, the realization of running three blogs is starting to take it's toll. This one, the least favorite of readers, would be the first sacrifice I will make. Could there be another blog leaving after this decision? There may be. Am I shutting the door completely on this blog? No but for now any future NY Giants posts will take place on Matt's Wonderful Blog Of Hobbies.

So, I say let's go out with a bang if this is the way it completely ends by showing off some great Giants cards I got from Shane.

Here is the gallery,

Some great cards huh? I agree.

Thanks again to Shane for the trade.

And thanks to you guys for checking out today's post!

Instant Impressions

We all make an impression on someone else. Sometimes those impressions can take awhile to build or be instant.

When I make a card trade with someone new on Twitter, I like to get an impression of them first before I go through with it.

First, I will check out their timeline and see what kind of stuff they tweet about. Is it political? Are they a straight up flipper? Do they have mutual followers? Have they made past trades where I can see how it went? Where they live (this helps because I don't ship outside the U.S.) and their interactions in general on the hobby. I want to make sure I feel good before I fully proceed with someone.

Sometimes, I will back out before it starts if I see something I don't feel good about. Other times they will give me a bad vibe such as not communicating in a timely manner or responding at all after requesting a trade or they will have me spend three hours digging out trade bait and end up selling the card before I have the chance to make an offer on a trade. This one just happened recently and the impression I am left by them is that I will never try a trade with them again no matter the card they are offering.

It didn't take me long to get a good instant impression from my latest new trader in @RyansTrading who posted a bunch of solid trade bait on my Tuesday Twitter trading thread. I listed a bunch of cards I was into and there a trade was born.

A big piece of the trade, literally a big piece, was this Instant Impressions real Hand Print and autograph piece by Panini above.
Even though the piece isn't NY Giants, it still fits into my unique PC.

I have always wanted one of these handprint autographs and now I can finally cross it off. However, I would love to acquire a Giants one.

The handpiece though wasn't the only piece of the trade.

I was able to add two more Kenny Golladay autographs to my collection before he jump starts his career again with the Giants this fall. This gives five autographs of his now. It's really odd to see how much his signature has changed over time especially compared to the three I have already.

Before the football season begins, I will post an overall picture of my Kenny Golladay PC.

The next card in the trade is my first Tiki Barber rookie auto and only my third autograph of his overall.

The final card in the trade was a dual autograph of Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith. Steve Smith made the biggest play in Super Bowl 42 that wasn't the helmet catch by moving the chains on a crucial third down.

and the last card is my first Victor Cruz autograph rookie card. I have other Cruz autographs, but this one marks the first rookie one.

Thanks again to @RyansTrading for the trade. You made a great impression with this trade and hopefully I did as well.

Giants Cardboard:Adding Some Autographs

I mentioned a couple of day ago my order with Burbank Sportcards came with some Giants not named Eli and today was the day I planned to show those off.

First we start with my very first Shiancoe autograph. He didn't do much with the Giants as he was Jeremy Shockey's back up but shined more with the Vikings later on.

Only my second Tiki Barber autograph in a Giants uniform comes Illusions. This does mark my first Tiki autograph jersey card though. I think the design and layout on this card is well done.

Tiki was a stud running back for the Gmen, just wished he could had won a Super Bowl.

90's autograph and a Giants player, sign me up. Lewis was a first round draft pick of the Giants in 1994 but I don't think he ever lived up to expectations after a successful college career.

My final autograph snag was this Dave Brown from Inscriptions. Brown doesn't have many autographs out there, I mean why would he looking back on his career, but he was a Giant and I grew up watching him play so I needed one of him. I already had this card but my autograph wasn't as strong as this one as mine had started to fade some. I hope to protect this one better but these acetate autographs can be scary over time.

My next mail day from Burbank Sportscards Beckett Marketplace  will most likely be more Giants pickups because I save 10% by using code 15Burbank at checkout and who doesn't like to save money? I suggest you try it as well.
