Single Card Mail Day:2023 Panini Obsidian Lightning Strike Autograph Isaiah Hodgins

It's easy to get caught up in the now when it comes to NFL cards.

Of course, you want the top rookies and players. Of course, you want the newest and hottest rookies for your team. Of course, you want this and that but when the dust settles and you can find a nice team PC card for well under $5, you grab it.

$3 for this Isaiah Hodgins was a bargain for a player who has great skills but plays for a team that lacks in offense. This marks my second autograph of his in a NY Giants uniform and my fifth overall autograph of him.

I am hoping with a revamped offensive line, a healthy Daniel Jones, and maybe some play calling by Daboll himself, that Hodgins will have the same impact he did in his first year as a Giant.

Single Card Mail Day:2018 Panini XR Mirrored Red /35 Eli Manning/Kyle Lauletta

You are looking at Eli Manning card #1036.

The chase is continuing as I try to get to get to 1100 different and hopefully someday past 1400 so I can become the leader on TCDB. Of course, I don't think the Eli collector on there has updated anything in a long time so he may have even more by now.

I would probably be closer if I counted my duplicates, but I trade those away instead for new ones. None of my collections on TCDB have dupes and I am not sure if the leader for Eli has counted his dupes to towards his 1400.

If any of you have Eli Mannings collecting dust, hit me up! My email is sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Single Card Mail Day:2017 UD Goodwin Champions Wonders Of The Universe Neptune

Last Christmas, no I am not singing the song, former blogger Wes sent me a 2017 Goodwin Champions Wonders Of The Universe Suns surface and I fell in love with this insert.

So I had to grab another and maybe more down the line.

This Neptune one was next to nothing, so it was an easy addition. The cards feature a 3D lenticular look to all of the worlds wonders. It's an insert like no other and not something I have seen like this since 1995 Sportflix Man2Man insert.

If any of you have any that are avaiable for PWE trade, please let me know! Drop an email to sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com. Would love to chase down as many as I can.

Single Card Mail Day:2023 Panini Obsidian Lightning Strike Orange Autograph Jessie Armstead

One thing I have really enjoyed about Panini football releases in 2023 is the number of players they pumped into products that you don't see every day.

Especially NY Giants.

In 2023, players like Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Brian Daboll, Tom Coughlin and today's subject which is the randomest of them all, Jessie Armstead.
Jessie Armstead was one of the many great NY Giants linebackers over the years. He played from the Giants from 1993-2001 and was apart of the NY Giants Ring Of Honor.

Jessie made a lot of plays over the years but the one that stands out to me is his Super Bowl pick six for a touchdown that was called back because of a holding penalty. Which was a bad call and changed the outcome of that game as momentum was on the Giants side. The game would have been tied at that point but instead 10-0 because Baltimore kicked a Field Goal soon after. In my mind, that was a scoring play and will always be one.

I am glad to be able to add his autograph to my Giants collection finally as he was one of my favorite Giants players of the 90's.

Let me know if you have added any obscure autographs to your collection recently!

Single Card Mail Day:2004 Upper Deck Reflections Focus On The Future Jersey Gold Eli Manning

What do I look for when it comes to adding new Eli Manning cards to my collection?

Other than the obvious of not having the card, I try to look for cards that are shiny, low numbered, jersey/relic/autograph cheap, good photography, Super Bowl related, or simply a deal you cannot pass up.

My latest snag was a combination of a couple of those things.

I snagged this rookie jersey card for $5 almost as quickly as it was posted. You don't find cheap Eli rookie relics often at all so when you can score a deal on one, you don't leave it for someone else to take.

The back of the card has a bigger focus on the event used jersey write up more than the player itself. Seems backwards to me.

On TCDB, this marks my 1,034 Eli Manning card. This still puts me in second place to freakizon who has 1,475 Eli's. My goal is still to surpass him on there and be known as the Eli Manning guy.

If you have any Eli Mannings I don't, check out my collection on TCDB HERE and let me know in comments or email me at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com with what you have that I don't!

Single Card Mail Day:1998 Topps Generation 2000 Tiki Barber

Tiki Barber is one of many on the list of great NY Giants running backs, but for some reason is a player I never quite chased cards of compared to the others on that list.

It wasn't that I didn't like Barber or enjoy watching him play, I really don't have a reason for not have adding many cards of him.

Instead, I am now starting to add a few of his cards to fill in some gaps. Most of the ones I target of him are from the 90's, you know, the greatest era of collecting.

Today's addition came from my buddy Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame. He is the king of finding 90's inserts for me from card shows he attends.

This 1998 Topps Generation 2000 card fell 1:18 packs and was a 15-card set featuring some of the top young talent in the game at that time. The front of the card is foil with some added rainbow shine from the 2000 on the front.

The back features information on the player and the comparisons they have to other top players in their rookie seasons.

Thanks to Shane for this latest add.

Thoughts on Barber, the card or a running back from your team that you didn't quite collect until later on are welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day:1997 Fleer Metal Universe Marvel Kordell Stewart

As I posted on Cards Over Coffee, I am chasing this set so here is my latest add to it. This time it's Kordell Stewart of the Steelers being paired with Wolverine. I have always been a fan of Slash as well, so this was a double PC add.

Thoughts on today's card welcomed in comments!

Single Card Mail Day:2021 Prestige Heroes Lamar Jackson

A new segment I am kicking off on here is Single Card Mail Day. It's a pretty simple segment at that as the title states the obvious, it's one of those mail days that only has one card in it.

I am kicking off this segment with a beauty I received from Kerry from Cards On Cards blog as a part of his Free Stuff Friday giveaway.

I was late to the party on claiming any of the cards, but I did spy one I was surprised hadn't been claimed.

I really like these Heroes inserts from Prestige. It's got a comic book feel to them and this one featured one of my side PC guys.

For once, the back of the card looks almost as good as the front.

Thanks again to Kerry for this card and if you haven't checked out Cards On Cards yet, do so. Especially if you are a St.Louis Cardinals fan.

Thoughts on today's card welcomed in comments.
