This segment hasn't been posted since August, so a lot has changed since then. In order to continue where I left off, I will post this as Week 5.

To remind you about what this segment is about, since I collect so much, there is always a main focus I have on a weekly basis. Sometimes these focuses go on for weeks and sometimes they are short lived. These posts will help guide you in what I am seeking for weekly.

Let's Talk About Sets Volume 61: 2022 Upper Deck Marvel Allure Base Set

Let's talk about sets baby, lets talk about sets with me. Let's collect them all and complete it to, let's talk about sets.

Today as I sit down with you and discuss sets, I am thinking about all of the sets I need still. I am not sure if they will ever all be completed, but maybe.

The last time I put up one of these posts it was for the 1991 Pro Set Musicards that I still need to complete along with the second series.

Today is the only other non-sport set I am chasing, and it comes along with my new addiction to Marvel movies.

 

My set chase for this one started off with a blaster box break then expanded to some trading to help narrow my list down some.

 

Which got me down to these out of the 150-card checklist. 100 is the base set, 50 are Sp's.

I hope I can finish up this one and the Musicards set.

A lot has changed so much since March, a lot of non-sport added and more sports dropping out. I think that's simply how my collection is transforming. Not to mention, I fell in love with the newer Marvel movies especially Guardians Of The Galaxy. I plan to show off my collection so far of Marvel cards at some point.

I am certain some of these will move up and down before next week and maybe even off the list. Guess we will see.

As I posted on Cards Over Coffee, I am chasing this set so here is my latest add to it. This time it's Kordell Stewart of the Steelers being paired with Wolverine. I have always been a fan of Slash as well, so this was a double PC add.

Marvel At This Mail Day

For the first time, @AlexK245 and myself pulled off our first trade despite interacting and following each other for many years.

It all started when he posted that he was looking for soccer cards and I knew soccer cards were something I have been wanting to unload and have been. For a first trade, this one went so smoothly. It was a quick, short and efficient as we both got a few things we wanted.

Here was my haul from it,

Bob Clatterback that becomes the oldest NY Giants card I own now

Rueben Randle, I am sure I have one of these already in my Randle collection but I don't mind others.

DJ Hall

Victor Cruz alongside Larry Fitzgerald. Speaking of Larry, what ever happened to him?

Terrell Davis rookie. One of my favorite 90s backs but not top. That's saved for Rodney obviously.

And I had to focus on the defenders face as I am sure there was a lot of that when Davis ran the ball.

The ELIte series....

And then came some non sport goodies. Now, honestly I am not much of a Marvel guy as I am more DC with Batman who is my favorite super hero, but I don't turn these types of cards away still. I do remember watching a little bit of the Xmen series on Fox when I was younger.

(they do always say a storm is coming, I might be okay with that)

Beast is probably my favorite of the group. This wasn't all of the base from Marvel that was sent to me either. There was others but I was trying to not drag this post on any longer than I have to. Don't want to bore you guys too much.

Thanks to Alex for our first trade, maybe there will be more down the road. I still have plenty of soccer to go.

Hobby Break 'Em: 2014 Marvel Guardians Of The Galaxy

Sometimes it's just fun to break something that has nothing to do with sports. Something that's just a pleasure break for fun. So what you do is plug in summers biggest movie and combine that with Upper Deck and you have one great combo.

2014 Upper Deck Guardians Of The Galaxy hobby boxes come with 10 packs with 8 cards per pack. There is also a oversized card in a pack as well. Each box comes with 2 memorabilia cards and one autograph, autograph memorabilia or sketch card. The boxes have since gone up in price since their original release and now will run you around $105.

Now onto the break!

Base Cards:

Subsets:

Bronze parallel. You find these one per pack! But look out for much rarer purple ones.

 

Other inserts:

The oversized pack and card. Every 12th one of these is a jumbo sketch card

Dual memorabilia cards of the tops stars of the movie. I was pretty excited.

And the final pull for me was a 1/1 sketch card. I was really hoping autograph, but I would imagine most of the time this is what you would get.

Overall, a pretty fun break. Especially if you are a fan of the movie or of Marvel. Upper Deck's amazing photography shines again for the base cards as it shows key scenes from the movie in bright bold photographs. The memorabilia cards are pretty cool as well and I think the autographs becuase of their rarity would be very valuable pulls if you are lucky enough to find one.

I guess the only downside here is the price is a little steep but that is expected with such a popular movie. I would recommend waiting for the price to drop, but this is definitely a fun bust if you are a fan.

NPN Of The Week

With the lack of me buying a lot of newer products, I haven't had many NPN addresses to share in weeks. So in return this Sunday, I wanted to show off an NPN I just got in from Upper Deck. By far, they are the easiest NPN of them all. Just go online to their website that you can locate HERE.

An Entertaining Upper Deck NPN Mail Day

 

For the first time ever, we got a pack of cards as a NPN mail day. A unique Marvel trading card game pack from Upper Deck Entertainment branch that promises 10 cards per pack and 1 rare card.

 

 

This was a bit of fun to break. Now if only we can teach ourselves the game :) In the meantime, they will become collectibles.
