Single Card Mail Day:2018 Panini XR Mirrored Red /35 Eli Manning/Kyle Lauletta

You are looking at Eli Manning card #1036.

The chase is continuing as I try to get to get to 1100 different and hopefully someday past 1400 so I can become the leader on TCDB. Of course, I don't think the Eli collector on there has updated anything in a long time so he may have even more by now.

I would probably be closer if I counted my duplicates, but I trade those away instead for new ones. None of my collections on TCDB have dupes and I am not sure if the leader for Eli has counted his dupes to towards his 1400.

If any of you have Eli Mannings collecting dust, hit me up! My email is sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Shiny And Numbered

My recent trade with Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday gave me some shiny and numbered Giants cards.

Up first,
A Kadarius Toney Prestige Pink parallel /50. I started a rainbow chase of these, but then backed off from it. Rainbow chasing is very finicky and unless you are set in your mind of chasing one, then don't bother.

Prince Amukamara green parallel from Bowman Platinum /499. I wished Prince could had proven more for the Gmen, but he had some success afterwards, It seems to be a Giant way of things.

Kyle Lauletta was supposed to be the Eli Manning replacement, so wasn't Davis Webb and so wasn't Daniel Jones. I am not sure when the Giants will find their next QB. It could be Jones still, but almost feels unlikely at this point. I would love to bring in a proven veteran whether that's through Free Agency or trade. Come on Russell Wilson!!

And finally, speaking of QB's, the Giants also went through a really rough dry spell after this guy retired before finding their next Super Bowl winning QB. I must also note, I can't ever say no to a Collectors Edge parallel.

Thanks to Shane for these additions.

Thoughts on my cards today welcomed in comments.

Throw Me A Link

Once upon a time, Dennis from Too Many Verlanders blog fame sent me a link via Twitter to a cheap BIN of a Giants 1/1 Printing Plate.

There were no words spoken. Just a link.

The assumption I made was that I was supposed to grab this card and fortunately I had the money to do so at that time. It doesn't always work that way but it did that day.

Here is that said card. A Prizm 1/1 printing plate rookie card of Kyle Lauletta

It's a Cyan Plate according to the back.

Thanks to Dennis for the heads up on this card. Glad it was able to work out for me this time. Not sure it will always but this time, yes.

Tradin' With Pops Again

I know it's Star Wars day and everything, but I haven't added any Star Wars cards recently and didn't feel I should post the same ones over and over again, so let's just check out my mail day from my father a couple weeks ago instead.

Back in January, we finished up our first trade in over a year and I mailed mine out pretty quickly to him and he usually returned the same. Problem was, health issues started to occur.

He got the flu that lasted a long time, then came down with bronchitis, etc, etc, etc. With the world the way it is, he couldn't take himself into the Post Office hacking away so he had to wait it out. Finally, he felt good enough and got this out to me before anything else happened.

I had no idea what was being sent anymore as I forgot with it haven been so long, so it was as much of a surprise to me as it will be to you guys reading this on here.

An almost complete set of E.T. I loved the movie and my father doesn't like non sport cards so he knew where they would be going.

I believe a picture of me when this at-home order is over with. Oh, sorry, I mean a complete E.T. sticker set.

90's cards at their best, Nicknames card of Cal Ripken. Hadn't seen one of these before and when I saw he was trying to sell it, I told him to toss it in my trade pile. This is the one card I remember claiming.

My best 2020 rookie card to date. I can cross off Herbert from my needs list now.

Rutina Wesley relic. I have never seen anything she has been in, but I love my non sport relics so great add regardless

Davis Webb relic card

And another Lauletta autograph for my PC. This marks my 15th autograph of his and at least my second if not my third of this particular one.

I hope to work out another trade with my father at some point. It helps take the mind away from things going on in the real world and its always fun to of course.

Hope everyone has a Happy Star Wars day and let me know in comments which Star Wars movie was your favorite

Getting Me Ready For Free Agency

Football season never truly ends.

'Nor does my collecting of it. I don't switch sports in my brain ever. Football is always on top no matter what time of year it is and it feels like the season never ends whether its on cardboard or just in general.

After the Super Bowl, there is Franchise Tags, releases, NFL Draft Combine (since I don't watch any college football this is where I get to check out the rookies), and then Free Agency, The Draft, OTA's, Training Camp, Preseason, then the season. There really is not downtime which is great.

Nothing gets me more excited than free agency and this year the Giants have loaded pockets and there are some great free agents to grab.

My dream scenario is the Giants landing, Jadeveon Clowney or Yannick Ngakoue, Byron Jones, Justin Simmons and some free agent OT. Anything is an upgrade. Not sure who they have their eyes on, but we have many holes to fill before the draft so let's fill 'em!

Getting me more pumped for the Free Agency that is only a few days away, is getting mail days with Giants in them. I received a few recently but one by Fuji from The Chronicles Of Fuji caught me by surprise as I wasn't expecting it.

So I set his mail day aside while I opened up others first. Surprises are the best mail days so I always save them for last.

There was a great variety of cards in the package. A Victor Cruz Bowman Chrome refractor which looks as sharp as a knife up close. I wished Topps was still in the football game.

A Rookie Facemasks that caught my eye seeing one of the Facemasks was missing. Still a great card regardless and in the PC.

New addition to the Rueben Randle PC. His autograph is so, so awful but I still enjoying cards of him.

Ron Dayne. I like it when companies get creative with the jersey card placement when it's not just a simple square. There was this one from Fleer and then

This Dayne from Upper Deck

and finally this one from Upper Deck. Come on Panini pay attention!

Davis Webb and

Kyle Lauletta I loaded up on. I thought either guy was the next QB for the Giants and I was ready for them to take flight. I didn't want to pay outrageous prices when they became the starting QB in NY. Well, neither survived the cut and now play elsewhere. But, once a Giant, always a Giant.

One Giant who rises above the rest for me, sorry Rodney you take second, is Eli Manning. I will take any and all Eli Mannings. My Eli is PC has surpassed the 600 mark but with thousands of Eli's to chase, I still have plenty of wiggle room to add. I prefer to trade for numbered, relic or autograph stuff as base I have to pick up on my own as a lot of it could be dupes.  Fuji grabbed a great one here.

And then this Super Bowl Heroes insert from Super Bowl 42. Everyone who reads this blog knows how much I enjoy collecting any Super Bowl 42 and 46 cards.

Thanks to Fuji for the great surprise. I have a few things that have been set aside for you for awhile now I should probably finally get out along with some other bloggers I need to hit up as well.

The New DJ In NY

In New York, there is a new DJ in town. Nope Derek Jeter didn't return, it's the NY Giants first round draft pick, Daniel Jones.

When it comes to cardboard, I don't have much at all in terms of Daniel Jones as opposed to the old DJ in NY which I have 300+ of.

I am still waiting to get a Jones autograph in hand and have watched many cheap ones leave eBay over the last few months since they drafted him. Including for $24.

The funny thing is I have put myself out there the last few months looking to trade for one and not a single bite. Last year I already had two Saquon autographs by now and he was by far the more popular pick.

At least I have some friends like @JGfan24ever who set aside guys like Daniel Jones and pass them along. In my recent mail day from Michael, I knew an autograph was coming but did not know about some other nice surprises within.

Two Sage Hit subset cards of DJ

 Base DJ from Sage Hit

 Panini Legacy rookie of Jones

Rodney Hampton base from Legacy.

And the autograph that I knew was coming. A nice College Ticket of Kyle Lauletta who still has a shot to make a roster run.

A thanks goes out to Michael yet again for another nice mail day. I hope to send you something else a little ways down the road to hit ya back.

In the meantime, readers, do you think the new DJ can live up to the old DJ and how popular he was in NY? For me, time can only tell.

Pieces Of My Future #1:Grady's Box

This blog will still mainly be 90's, but I thought I would add some new quirks in as well. I haven't been getting many mail days at all recently so I think it's good that I have switched formats on here. Other than having a lot of fun with it.

I knew my mail days would go down once my budget got tighter going into this year and the rising costs of USPS shipping, I haven't even attempted trades. I do have a stack of packages I owe and PWE's I was sending out, just need to wait for the funds to do so. May be a slow go with shipping those out and any future deals I make.

So for those of you I owe packages to, they will be coming and for the PWE's, some are surprises and others are contests I have been running on Twitter and hopefully they will be out soon to one by one.

One of the packages I owe goes out to my buddy and Parts Of My Past reader Grady M who recently sent me this huge box of goodies. I will post some of what I found, but in order to post everything it would take a couple of months to cover in this segment. So we will just take a small gander at some.

So without further delay, let's take a look!

Lots of Prizm goodness. Grady knows I love the shiny.

Even some Optic shine to.

Some football Prizm as well.

And a couple of the Michael Jordan Hanes cards that are found in packs inside of underwear and socks. It turned into a collecting phenom as collectors are chasing the ten MJ autograph cards randomly inserted throughout. I haven't even had a chance to check my local Walmart for these but I assume with the commercial they showed on TV promoting these, I bet none will be there. First time I have seen a commercial promoting sports cards in years.

New DJ

I didn't have any of these Gleyber Torres cards yet so new additions to that PC.

LT! Boom some USA red, white and blue love.

I should check to see what I have for the rainbow of Donruss and Donruss Optic Evan Engram so far.

And the final card...wow. Digging the die cut, design and color scheme. Hot Diggity! I still have hope the Giants will give this guy a chance at QB and use all 12 of their draft picks on fixing that defense. Maybe even a WR would help to.

Thanks again to Grady for the mail day. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can get your end shipped out as well.

Ending The Way It Started

The NY Giants 2018 season finally came to an end the way the season started, a crushing defeat. This one stung a little more than the rest. Having the 7 point lead, watching a miraculous catch at the end then the two point conversion to close it out. That must have been how Patriots fans felt when the Giants made their two catches in the Super Bowl against them. It really stings like sweat in your eyes. Like that spaghetti sauce stain on your favorite throwback 80's shirt. Like salt being ground in a wound. Like that autograph rookie card you were about to get graded and dropped on the floor denting a corner. It hurt and I still am recovering. All I can do now is focus and hope Dallas (typed this before their game vs Seattle), Philly or New England don't win it all. That would just top things off and would be like falling down a flight of stairs type of season end.

Anyways, the NY Giants Sunday posts will come to an end after today. Will NY Giants cards in general be gone from on here? No. Never. They will continue as I get them in. Speaking of getting them in, I recently pulled off another trade with a great fellow Giants fan buddy of mine @Brent3323.

Brent sent along more than I traded for as always and has become one of my favorite people to trade with. He is really easy to trade with and is a great guy just to talk to. Let's see what he sent my way this time,

Kyle Lauletta Prizm rookies. I still need the Saquon and pretty sure I will get one this time in another trade.

Davis Webb relic from Certified. Wonder if he will ever get another shot in the NFL or stay as a backup with the Jets.

Hakeem Nicks was one of my favorite Giants WR's. He was underrated in the league for what he could do. Good hands that's for sure.I will always remember his Hail Mary TD against the Packers in the playoffs. Wayne Gallman relic as well. He put on some strong runs towards the end of the year, I expect him to be back to backup Saquon.

Quad relic with Kenneth Dixon (playing pretty well), Devonte Booker, Tyler Ervin, and Paul Perkins. Not sure whatever happened to him.

Another Perkins relic.

I was so happy that Toomer was able to get a ring before he stepped away from the game. He was tough WR who stepped up big when the Giants needed him.

Adrien Robinson didn't get too far with his Giants career, but that doesn't matter to me. Once a Giant, always a Giant.

A couple new additions to my Rueben Randle PC. I wished this guy could have been given another opportunity. He showed flashes at points with the Giants when other guys were hurt.

Holy Smokes! Odell Beckham Phoenix parallel /10!! This was quite a surprise!

I didn't notice this til I started typing this, but, what a difference in signatures for Kyle A halfway decent one with Elite and then he puts two letters for Phoenix. Wished he had kept that other. I also stil am hopeful he is the Giants guy down the road and that they don't waste the 6th overall pick on a QB when the glaring weakness is the defense. Bring Eli back one last year, have him train Lauletta and draft lots of defense and pick up some free agents. I think this team can make a run next year.

This is only part of my mail day from Brent as the rest I will post tomorrow. It's non Giants so wanted to post on a different day to keep my theme for today's post. But, I think you should come back to check out one of the cards at least.

Well, Giants, thanks for a roller coaster of a year and at least two more wins than last year, but I see a bright future ahead. Let's fill in the missing pieces and go get it in 2019!
