Rodney's Cardboard:1997 New Pinnacle Black Printing Plate

Today's card is my favorite Printing Plate in my Rodney Hampton collection.

Not because of the front,

 

But, because of the back. It is signed by Jerry Meyer Chairman of Pinnacle. This is the only time that I know of that printing plate was actually fully guaranteed like this. These are also very scarce to hunt down and Rodney makes only the second one in my collection. The other one is a card back of Yatil Green.

I can't imagine how many of these things that Meyer had to sign.

Rodney's Cardboard:1997 Stadium Club Yellow Printing Plate

  Well, now that I am past all of the hard to talk about Rodney Printing plates, I am moving onto two weeks of ones I can have a small discussion about.

Today's printing plate is actually recognized as one. This is from the 1997 Stadium Club set and features Rodney shoving Ray Lewis to the ground. I guarantee this is not something you saw very often when Lewis was on the field.

 

The back of the plate lets us know which one it is. I still have three others to chase. Who knows if they will ever show up.

Rodney's Cardboard:1996 Collectors Edge Advantage Printing Plates (3 of them)

(there isn't a lot to say about these plates as I have many to post. They are 1/1's, they are legit as you can tell the use from the backing which is completely silver, they all came from one seller, and they all came to me via Wes who blogged for Area 40 blog. Thanks Wes!)

(side note, this is one front and two different back colors for this run. I am not sure if I have others as well. I will update when I check them)

Rodney's Cardboard:1997 Pro Line Printing Plate

I do have one more printing plate to show off that we will save for another time as I think we need to break this up some. Today, we are showing off a 1997 Pro Line Printing Plate I was able to acquire thanks to a trade again with my buddy Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame.

 

I believe this was one of last products in the run of Pro Line in the 90's and what was a great run of it. Their on-card autographs were amazing.

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Classic NFL Experience Back Plate

Back to front, front to back. Printing plates can be fun.

I don't see many back plates today, but I own a few from the 90's.

This is the back plate of another plate I recently showed off on here.

 

Once again, there isn't much to show on the opposite side other than a plain sheet of metal plate.

Rodney's Cardboard:1996 Pacific Printing Plate

Another new Rodney, another new Rodney plate and another thank you goes out to Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame.

 

Today's plate is from 1996 Pacific football, one of my favorite base card designs from the Pacific line.

There isn't much else to say about printing plates so I must apologize for short posts. It's not like there are odds on it.

Summer Of Wes Card #15

New To Me

I recently made a trade with my friend @JamminJDCards that led to me landing a centerpiece for my Saquon Barkley PC.

It's a 2019 Plates&Patches Donruss Power Formulas Printing Plate 1/1 Autograph that is team colored with the Cyan.

The Power Formulas insert in Donruss alone looks amazing, the plate is just as much.

Overall it's the typical Printing Plate all except the back where I saw some interesting, at least to me, writing on it. I own and have owned quite a few Printing Plates over my time but none that had a date stamped to the back of it.

I took a closer look and it appears it has March 12th or 22nd of 2019 stamped on it. I wonder if that was the manufacturing date? I have no idea but this already cool piece just became even cooler. What would have made it over the top if it had March 19th,, which just happens to be my birthday and is also tomorrow.

You will probably see this card again when it's Saquons turn for Player HITlights.

Rodney's Cardboard:2018 Panini Legacy Magenta Plate 1/1

Dennis from Too Many Verlanders blog fame was a huge help to me recently when a 1/1 Rodney Hampton popped up I desperately, yes we can call it that even for just a piece of cardboard, needed.

I didn't have the funds to pick up said Hampton so he put in a helping hand and we made a trade. Dennis is cool like that.

Said card, a 2018 Legacy Magenta Printing Plate 1/1, was in his hands pretty fast and he passed it along to me not much longer after.

This is my second Printing Plate from Legacy of my boy Rodney.

I don't know how many plates there are overall to chase but I believe its probably close to four.

I know I said I was going to show off a new Hampton that popped up in a new product this week, but I will save that for next week. I wanted to say thanks to Dennis again first.

I do wished that rest of the 1/1's I need for Legacy would make an appearance, all three are autograph parallels. But patience is best in situations like this.

Once upon a time, Dennis from Too Many Verlanders blog fame sent me a link via Twitter to a cheap BIN of a Giants 1/1 Printing Plate.

There were no words spoken. Just a link.

The assumption I made was that I was supposed to grab this card and fortunately I had the money to do so at that time. It doesn't always work that way but it did that day.

Here is that said card. A Prizm 1/1 printing plate rookie card of Kyle Lauletta

 

It's a Cyan Plate according to the back.

Thanks to Dennis for the heads up on this card. Glad it was able to work out for me this time. Not sure it will always but this time, yes.

REVIEW:2016 Plates And Patches Box 2

Box 1 was yesterday and showcased the beauty of a the product I felt was within, today picks up where yesterday's box was left off.

So let's just get to it and rip it! (if you missed yesterdays and need more info on the product just scroll back on the blog a day)

 

Box 2 starts out with a base card /99 and of NFL MVP Matty Ice.

 

The parallel this round was of Bronco great John Elway. It's a blue /50.

 

My first hit, well, you know this name from this blog. Only bad part is it being a one color patch. But, it's a blue parallel /50. The posed photos on these can sometimes be corny, I didn't feel this one was.

 

Up next, another rookie patch auto. However this time a white and not multi-color like yesterday. Hopefully Moore has more in his future. Like I said yesterday, this is a deep set checklist for auto-patch rookies that you can either pull big names or lesser known names.

 

And finally, the 1/1 plate this time a magenta one of Titans rookie runner Derek Henry. This card comes from the Blue Chip insert set from 2016 Prestige.

 

Overall, this break wasn't quite as solid as the first box, but I am still very much in love with the product as a whole. I feel there is so much to find in here and with everything being so limited from base cards to the hits it should help keep good value as player and team collectors will seek out cards they need.

REVIEW:2016 Plates And Patches Football Box 1

One of my most anticipated products since hearing about it's return to the gridiron was Plates and Patches. Mostly because of it's new format and actually putting a focus on the name of the product, Plates and Patches. Makes sense doesn't it?

I have two boxes to showcase with today's breaking down the details review style and tomorrow's basically a hit display. So let's see how box one went. READ ON!

In every box of 2016 Plates and Patches football football, you will find 5 cards. Three of those cards will be hits and the other two will be one base card and one base card parallel. Each Box contains One On-Card Autograph or Rookie Patch Auto, One Prime Memorabilia Card, and One Printing Plate for less than $100. It's a little gamble, but you are getting one 1/1 per box. How many boxes can you say that about???

The base set looks nice and are numbered to 99 with rookies and legends being numbered to 79 so those are even tougher to find. The checklist is 200 cards deep built of vets, rookies and legends. So there is a lot to chase with only one base card per pack to find.

Probably not a set collectors type of product.

As I stated above, there are base cards parallels. These include Blue /50, Green /25, Red /10, and Gold 1/1. This is a nice Green of Tony Dorsett /25.

Now it's time to show off the hits!

My first pull is a ROOKIE PATCH AUTOGRAPH of Hunter Henry. There are 42 cards in this to chase including all of the top rookies from the 2016 class including Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Derrick Henry, Paxton Lynch.. There are parallels to find of Blue (#/50 or #/25), Green (#/25 or #/10), Red (#/10 or #/5), and Gold 1/1.

My next pull is pretty slick, a trio of patches /50 of WR's from the 2016 class. Wished it had been Shepard, but these are all names we could be hearing in the future.

 

And my last pull, the 1/1 plate, is of Bo Jackson. This plate is from Gala football. It seems plates in the product cover a variety of different Panini products from 2016. I don't find this a problem however as it's probably the only way you can put a plate in every box of this product. Can't ever go wrong with a 1/1 plate.

Other hits not found in my box are, CANTON CALLIGRAPHY, FULL COVERAGE, DOUBLE COVERAGE, ROOKIE QUAD JERSEY, DOUBLE COVERAGE, SIGNAL-CALLERS and GAME CHANGERS AUTOGRAPHS

Overall, not huge big-name pulls other than the plate, but I feel there is enough packed into this product worth warranting a bust. I know I was left felt wanting more. Especially with all of the hits I didn't find in my box such as the Canton Calligraphy that has a deep Hall Of Fame checklist of tremendous stars. 

But, I will let you see another break of the product tomorrow so you can get a good feeling about it for yourself. I don't believe you will be disappointed but I guess it depends on what your likes are. I know mine can be found in here because it's all about the patches and plates.

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 20:Printing Plate Autographs

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

Today's 2-card lot are a continuation from when I discussed collecting Printing Plates. However, this time they are autographed and mark only my 2nd and 3rd like this.

I also said I collect them no matter the player.....

 

But, sometimes it's nice to add a good player too. If you can't tell who this is, this is Ryan Fitzpatrick back when he was QB for the Bills.

 

Was excited to add a couple more of these to my Printing Plate PC.

Project Pedro Trade Recap Part 15:Plated

October has officially been named, Cards I Got From Project Pedro Blog Month.

Okay, I have many PC's. Some you see as obvious ones like NY Giants. Some, not so much as I don't speak of them often. Well, that's because they are 1/1's.

I collect Printing Plates and have for some time. I have roughly 20 or so (through trades and pulls) making it a small PC but a fun side one. I don't feel they make the same impact or have the same value they used to in the hobby, but I still like them. It's where every card begins.

Project Pedro had four to offer and I took all of them. Today I am showcasing just two as the other two are autographed versions which will come up soon.

My first plate is a good addition of former Panthers and current Packers DE/OLB Julius Peppers. I think this one may be the most impressive looking one I have since it's framed. I hadn't seen one like this before.

 

My second is of former Vikings and many other teams QB Christian Ponder. Not the best player, but a plate is a plate.

 

 

Still more to come on this trade including a biggie at the end.

An ABSOLUTEly Nice Mail Day

A few weeks ago, I was DM'd on Twitter by friend and Sport Card Collector's reader, @DieselDugong, about a card he thought deserved to be in my hands more than his. Well, that card arrived today and I was in disbelief.

Along with the main card I will show below, he sent along some extra cards too.

Some for my Yankees PC. I really like the Montgomery and this is my first Tyler Austin.

 

Some for my Giants PC and a couple sub-PC's

 

And one for my NY Rangers PC.

 

Then hidden behind the Lundqvist was this beauty.....

 

A 2013 Absolute Printing Plate 1/1 autograph of David Wilson.

 

I was in "absolute" shock to see this card in the envelope and am still blown away staring at it.

 

This fits many PC's with it being David Wilson (who I wished could have played longer but I did enjoy watching his talents for the time he did play), a NY Giant, a Printing Plate and an autograph.

 

A huge thanks goes out to @DieselDugong for this amazing card and the others as well. I have also found a few cards I think that will look better in your collection then mine I am putting together too so be on the lookout ;)

MONSTER TRADE COUNTDOWN CARDS # 5

We have officially cracked the Top 5. This means the cards will increasingly get better as we go. Not that they haven't already.

Today's cards were a big surprise as Shane threw these in for a bonus! A surprise bonus. I had no idea on these. All I know is that the look on my face must have been priceless when I found them in the box.

These are 2012 Topps Chrome rookie Printing Plates of Rueben Randle. These will look great with my Topps Chrome Rainbow. Now I just need to track down the other ones.

This one is a yellow plate.

This one, much brighter than the yellow is a magenta one.

1/1 Printing Plate Patch Trade Mail Day

This post is just the beginning of posts for my MONSTER TRADE with Shane from Project Pedro blog.

A couple weeks ago, @SCUUniontownPA posted a deal of the day on Twitter along with their weekly hobby box giveaway. The deal was for A BEAUTIFUL Andre Williams 1/1 printing plate patch card. Obviously I drooled over the item for my Williams PC, but with recent card expenditures exceeded, I couldn't pick it up. Shane being the great guy he is, swooped in and snatched it for me to be included in our MONSTER TRADE. Yes, I keep putting that in big letters because I want it to be known how large this trade actually is. 

On Monday, the card arrived even more beautiful in person and it came with a bonus rookie card I didn't have.

Incredible Upper Deck Trade Mail Day From JBF

Just a short couple of weeks ago, I pulled off a pretty cool trade with Jaybarkerfans Junk blog where I landed a few cards for my PC. This time the ante was way upped! Happiness doesn't even begin to express how I felt when this package arrived as I knew three amazing cards were arriving. I am sure you guys would agree.

Up first, as you know from past reads on here, I love unique pieces. This is a 2001 Fleer (yes I know I said this was an Upper Deck post but they own the Fleer license so technically it is) Hot Prospect Goal Post Cover Card. Pretty cool huh? Nothing that I knew of existed.

Up next is a 1/1 Printing Plate of the speedy Raghib Ismail. I like printing plates and he was also a golden domer.

And finally, the apple of my card eye of the group, a 2009 Prominent Cuts Holllywood History Dual Memorabilia card of Jackie Gleason (the multi color) and Jim Carrey!!!

Now, don't get me wrong, all three cards are awesome. But when it comes to just picking one, the last card wins slightly. It's soooooooooooooooooooooo cool to own a piece of Hollywood history. Gleason's shirt is from The Honeymooners and Carrey's hockey jersey swatch is from Bruce Almighty.

Breakin Wax: 2015 Score Football Hobby Box (1/1 HIT)

In my next break from my vacay, I busted another box of 2015 Score football. I just liked the first one so much that another just had to been broken. If you missed my first break, you can find it HERE.

In every box of 2015 Score football, there are 24 packs with 12 cards per pack. So you know you will be getting your money worth. Each pack comes with a couple inserts and 2-3 rookies and boxes will run you roughly $45. I paid $48 at the LCS.

I am going to skip over the design breakdown this time due to my review already of it. I am just going to jump straight to the goodies!

This was my only Jameis Winston in the two boxes. I am wondering it top rookies are a tougher pull.

BOOM!! My very first autographed 1/1 Printing Plate of SF rookie Dres Anderson. It's a black printing plate.

Overall, great box! Probably the best box I have opened of Score.....ever. I think I may be addicted as this didn't feed my need for Score and I want more. Stay tuned as I may hunt down more.
