WE ARE IN!

WE ARE IN!!! (and I celebrated by snagging this siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicck Andre Williams)

For the first time in 6 seasons, the New York Football Giants are in the playoffs again after crushing the Indianaoplis Colts this past Sunday 38-10.

The Gmen have a surprising 9-6-1 record and claimed the NFC's 6th seed with a Wild Card playoff matchup most likely against the SF 49ers or Minnesota Vikings.

How did this team of what some call misfits make it this far?

Well, it wasn't because of their 72-million-dollar cheerleader that's for sure. On a positive note, when someone doesn't play well their /12 autograph cards can be found for $3.

The main reason for the Giants success has been coaching. Brian Daboll has been amazing along with the rest of his staff in player development and basic coaching skills.

Not to mention a solid draft.
WanDale Robinson has a promising future, but like a good portion of the roster this season, has dealt with injuries and is out for the season.

But, despite the injuries, this coaching staff takes the phrase "next man up" and uses it to perfection.
A former Bill and 6th round pick of 2020 NFL Draft has become one of the premier receiving threats in the offense.

And Darius Slayton who was rumored to be traded this past offseason, took a pay cut to stay with them and is their leading wide out.

Do I think this team of misfits has a Championship drive in them? I can't answer that, nor would I want to curse it. All I can say is the future is bright and I am proud once again to call this team my team.

We Are In.

Dion's Box

I have made many trades over the years with Dion from Dions Autograph Blog but none were as heavy or as big as our latest one. I felt bad for the older woman who delivers my mail. Hope she didn't end up on workers comp.

Was also hoping I wasn't going to get injured. I will say I am dealing with some right shoulder pain the past week, but don't think it was because of this.

Dion's Box, as I call it, contained a wide variety of items. There were unopened boxes/packs, a canvas poster and some loose cards all packed within.

I have never opened or owned any cards from the Desert Storm series and Dion had a few boxes up for grabs so I grabbed them.

I don't know anything about Deathwatch what-so-ever, but I saw Ken Griffey Jr on the front of the box so I wanted it.

Super Bowl 25 unopened packs from Pro Set. Super Bowl 25 is another one of those incredible Super Bowls, unless you were a Bills fan.

If you saw in the box a poster rolled up, you would unravel it to see this canvas of Saquon Barkley. Now to find a place to hang it.

Besides these bigger items, there was also a lot of loose cards. Most of the loose cards were made up of non-sport. I won't share them all, but will showcase a few.
This isn't non sport, but I thought it was a unique find of retired soccer player, two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion, two-time Olympic gold-medalist, coach, and sports broadcaster.

Dion did not have relations with this card...or maybe he did and tossed Bill aside like Hillary. Will never truly know, but I do like adding presidential cards to my collection.

Bode Miller is a gold medal skier and is also someone who could be considered a "local guy celebrity" from where he started.

David Cross has acted in a ton of movies and television and most know him from Arrested Developement, but when I hear his name I think of Scary Movie 2 where he is cracking wheelchair jokes.

Another presidential card

RIP Colin Powell. I do own one of these, but it's a unique card so I don't mind having two.

Anthony Anderson has played in a ton of TV and movie spots, but for me, his roles in the Scary Movie films still stand out and make me laugh.

Frank Caliendo is the man of many voices who does great impressions of John Madden and Morgan Freeman.

Pamela Anderson...do I need to say more?

Thanks again to Dion for the trade.

Thoughts on my mail day or any of the specific cards and boxes are welcomed in comments.

Burbank Pickups Of The Month:September 2021 Edition

My mood with my pickups at Burbank Sportcards changes month to month. Some months I am in the mood for the 90's and other months I am staring at set filling and now that it's fall, it's all about the NY Giants. Today's pickups are not all that I acquired, but a good chunk. I am saving the others for my Game Day posts.

Not only do I like using the code 15Burbank to save myself some money, but I love how fast their shipping is. Something that COMC needs to take note of.

Let's take a look at what I grabbed for the month of September.

2014 Prizm Parallels of Andre Williams.  I think 2014 Prizm has some of the best looking parallels out of all things Prizm.

I am not sure if this is a sign of things to come in a chase or if this is just a few adds for fun. Only time will tell. For now, I will enjoy these beauties.

Overall look at the Prizm parallels in 2014 Prizm,
BasePrizm, Blue, Green, Purple, Red, Red/White/Blue, Panini Red/Gold, BCA Pink Ribbon, Camo, Orange, Neon Green-Yellow, Red Power Prizm, Light Blue Wave, NFL Shield /75, Team Logo, Tie-Dyed /25, Gold /10, and Black Finite 1/1

Then my Andre Williams chase didn't stop there, added these two as well,

Then thought about adding a few more but switched things up to another former NY Giants running back in David Wilson. If he had stayed healthy, I can only imagine where his sky may have taken them.
And by sky..I mean his sky high flips.

And then another autograph add of his.

As I said above today's additions were brought to you by the Burbank Sportcards Beckett Marketplace , where you can save 10% by using code 15Burbank at checkout. Shipping is also free on orders of $50 or more. The more you buy, the more you save and the more you won't have to pay shipping on.

Until next month!

A RAK Monday Success

I have posted about it before on here, but I run a RAK (random acts of kindness) thread on Mondays where you list off what you collect and see if anyone has anything fun to send you out of kindness. In return if you are chosen, you must go find someone to give to yourself. Not that it wouldn't be nice to see everyone give and not worry about a return in the first place. Especially in today's trying times.

I join in on the thread as well in both giving and receiving end because its fun. I also think the more that join in to give makes everyone's Monday's a little less Monday. I got one a couple of Monday's ago from @taymatj and it definitely made my week better.

Some non sport mini's from Ginter is right up my alley.

The very underrated Looney Tunes cards from Upper Deck.

Topps Strata hobby Eli Manning (hobby's card is thicker)

And finally what I considered to be a huge boom.....

Andre Williams /50 autograph patch. Beautiful card that was hard to capture on here as the light hit the angle of the picture I took wrong.

Thanks again to Matt for the mail day and as for the rest of you, I really hope you all join in on the fun!

Unintentional Rainbow Chase:2014 Andre Williams

Today's unintentional rainbow chase is brought to you by Andre Williams. Williams was a player I had high hopes for when he came to the Giants after his successful college career. So I loaded up on his cards.

Which led to some unintentional rainbow chases.

First up, Topps flagship. I know there is only two cards but back in the time where Topps didn't do an overabundance of flagship parallels I am not technically too far off.

Here is what I have and what I need,
Base,Purple, Gold Border /2014, BCA Pink /499, Military Camo /399, Orange /96, Black Border /59, Platinum Foil 1/1, Printing Plates 1/1

Up next, Topps Chrome.

Here is what I have and need from this rainbow chase,
Base,Base Refractor, Blue Wave Refractor, Green Refractor, Orange Refractor, Purple Refractor, X-Fractor, STS Camo Refractor /499, BCA Pink Refractor /399, Pulsar Refractor, Black Refractor /299, Blue Refractor /199, Sepia Refractor /99, Gold Refractor /50, Red Refractor /25, SuperFractor 1/1, and Printing Plates 1/1

I am not in a bad position for the 2014 Chrome chase. Williams is affordable but finding that Super after 7 years may be quite the task.

Not sure how far I will chase either of these rainbows but being affordable I may see how far I can get especially on the refractor one.

Giants Cardboard:Dre!

One of the most generous guys on Twitter has to be @kevinspollen. The guy never wants anything in return and instead is always giving. I see him continuing to give on daily basis back to the hobby. It's absolutely incredible and someone we should all look up to.

I mentioned collecting Giants autographs and how I was trying to land one of every Giants player and boom, there was Kevin. Showing up trying to give.

He had this 2014 Prizm autograph of Andre Williams he wanted to contribute and I wasn't turning that away. Andre Williams is one of my biggest autograph collections I have for the Giants and I am pretty sure I don't have the Prizm one.

Big thanks to Kevin for the mail day as always!

It's Been Awhile....

It's been awhile since I have done a blogger trade. I think Dennis has been my main trading partner this year when it comes to the blogging world. This has been a place normally I have done many trades with.

The problem I am having is, one I don't ever seem to have enough stamps on hand after mailing bills and two, I keep seeing everyone who I thought collected certain teams/players no longer doing so and it makes it way to hard for me to keep up. So if you haven't traded with me as a blogger recently and have in the past, it's mainly because I lost track of what you mainly collect or don't have anything to send you if you changed it. I can always find a way to get a stamp or two.

But, if you want to do a blogger trade and have a U.S. shipping address, just drop me an email (sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com) like Nate over at The Buc Stops Here blog has been doing as we just completed another trade ourselves.

Anyways, Dennis just dropped a massive mail day in my mail box. I always look forward to his mail days when he says one is coming because I never know what treasures he has found for me. This time he found some surefire gems.

Some Junior as we have been passing a few back and forth. I really like the Stanton. Say what you want about logoless Panini baseball products but they put in a full effort on their stuff and it shows. Great looking cards.

Set need! Dennis made a note in there that I need to finish this set up finally and I agree. I need to nail these last ones down, 57,56,51,48,43,36,33,24. I have more 90s Spx needs for hockey and basketball as well.

This was my favorite insert set for 2015 Americana. Just love the design and theme. Still a long ways from this set but glad to cross another off.

Give me Give Me Give more, give me more. No that's not my inner Britney, it's my saying for late 90's inserts. I will take any and all!

I am sure Dennis was a little heartbroken to send this one away since he is a huge fan, but I will be happy in taking it.

JPP! Giants defense could really use him this year. These Xfactors look great when the right light captures them.

One of the best NY Giants WR I have watched. He had hands of glue.

It was hard to capture the magic on this backflipped Topps Chrome card of David Wilson, but I finally found a way to do so. Beauty!

Andre Brown autograph letter patch. I just wished these didn't fade over time. I love autographs on these but I have another like this one and it is pretty much gone and it hasn't been in the light to fade it.

Sterling Shepard and Pual Perkins dual relic

Ryan Nassib auto. The photography is amazing.

Steve Smith played like a beast for the Giants when he was healthy. Was also a key part of their Super Bowl 42 win.

 Jumbo relic of Hakeem Nicks!

 Corny yes, cool, absolutely.

FINALLY I have one. Been wanting one of these helmet swatch cards for my Andre Williams PC for a long time. Now I can finally cross this one off.

Sorry if the card part is too dark. I had to capture the film magic instead. Absolutely floored when I found this card in my stack.

Then came my first Derrick Ward auto. Nice! I always love crossing a new auto off from the list.

Big thanks to Dennis for nailing another great mail day down. Hope you enjoy the PWE I sent your way with another on it's way soon.

Hopefully it won't be too long in between my next blogger trade.
