Rodney's Cardboard:1996 Collectors Edge Advantage Printing Plates (3 of them)

(there isn't a lot to say about these plates as I have many to post. They are 1/1's, they are legit as you can tell the use from the backing which is completely silver, they all came from one seller, and they all came to me via Wes who blogged for Area 40 blog. Thanks Wes!)

(side note, this is one front and two different back colors for this run. I am not sure if I have others as well. I will update when I check them)

Kerry Collins Of The Week Part 1

Welcome to the latest segment here on SCC!

It's the Kerry Collins of the week adds. I don't know how long I will keep this segment going, depends on response, but I thought I would show off some recent additions to my growing Kerry Collins PC.

That PC has now hit over 300 different cards out of 2,000+ different so there is still a long ways to go, but I am fine with that.

I was originally going to move this to the Saturday slot in place of $25 A Week Challenge and treat it like I do the Rodney Hampton on Sunday's by doing it card by card, but I decided it was simply too hard to keep up that way with as hard and fast as these were coming in.

So here we go with Week 1!

Episode 5:Busting A Pack Of 1999 Collectors Edge Advantage Football!

Welcome back for another episode of Now That's Some High Quality Cardboard. Today I will be busting a pack of 1999 Collectors Edge Advantage football.

I busted a ton of this in 1999. Can't even remember the amount of it I did but it was a lot. So why not dive back into some again?

Let's rip it.

Each pack of 1999 Collectors Edge Advantage comes with 10 cards. One of those cards will be a guaranteed Gold Ignot parallel. Plus there could be chances at short print rookie cards, inserts and possibly an autograph. I paid $1.50 for this one as opposed to the $3.99 grocery stamp I bet I once paid.

Simple design, but some good photography can be found on these. I do wish the team logo and name of the player weren't so big.

AIR McNair was also great on the ground with his feet

A solid back who didn't quite get the recognition he should have. Probably because he was on the Bengals.

Rookie Card sighting! These fall 1:2 packs. Too bad I had to grab Denson out of the 38 rookie offerings, but it's still nice to land something.

The gold Ignot parallel. Just a stamp.

Solid pack of players in this box. Martin had a great career with the Patriots and the Jets. The question is, which team do you associate him more with? I can't choose just one.

Garrison Hearst was another great back that lacked top reputation.

Not a bad pack rip for the price. A decent amount of star power, a Sp rookie pull and Kordell being the parallel makes it worth the rip alone. The memories of opening was really the aim here and it worked.

This Trade Hit The Spot

My buddy @batcavelv and I have been working on a trade for a few months and today my end of the trade came in packing a punch as usual.

Tracy knows of my addiction to busting unopened late 90's wax and picked me up some packs.

 Here were the best cards from basketball. A Karl Malone and three silver parallels that fall one per pack

 

The football pack came with this 1:12 pull of Jerome Bettis. Pretty nice looking insert.

 

Also got this base card rookie of Bobby Hoying.

 

Now onto some pretty sweet Giants additions. We got Rueben Randle, Tim Carter and Steve Smith jersey cards from their rookie years.

 

One of my favorite Giant QB's of All-Time in Kerry Collins. May actually be one of my all-time favorite Top 10 QB overall. I believe this is my first jersey card of him.

 

 

Big Hank, Jonathan Hankins who I believe next season will have a huge breakout year. This is a nice rookie autograph of him. And it's shiny, double bonus!

 

Now onto my two favorite cards of the bunch, not that they all weren't awesome. Dress For Success of Sinorice Moss, who never did pan out like his brother Santana, rookie face mask card. I miss companies doing these.

 

And you would have to be blind not to enjoy this beauty whether you are a Giants fan, football fan or not. This is one good looking piece of cardboard. A Leaf Limited Leather and Laces PRIME numbered 11/25 of Ron Dixon. 

 

For those of you who don't know Ron Dixon, he was most notably known for special teams returns and scored the Giants only, gulp giving myself nightmares again, score in Super Bowl 35 on a 97 yard kickoff return where the Giants got walloped by the Baltimore Ravens 34-7. He only played for the Giants from 2000-2003 and his career ended with a nagging PCL injury and was ineffective in tryouts after the Giants and retired in 2005.

 

Despite the player, this card is one that you just can't simply pull your eyes away from.
