Episode 11:1999 Fleer Metal Football Pack Break

Did you say PMG? Wait, you don't know what that is? It's a Precious Metal Gem and it is awesome. You can only find the parallel in packs of Fleer Metal and they are not easy finds. I never once landed one in a pack. Not once. I busted Metal all day long.

Let's see if it helps that I waited 20 years to bust another pack.

1999 Fleer Metal has 6 cards per pack and pack for me was $2.50 like the Invincible one. My hope for a PMG was high.

Pack odds

The base cards design for 1999 was my least favorite one of the late 90's. 1997 Fleer Metal was my favorite with the funky fun worldly backgrounds.

Let's see how they look:

Mark Bruener

Larry Centers. He was a fun one to watch

Zach Thomas was a beast for the Dolphins

Ricks! I seemed to find a lot of his inserts in packs back at the time

Johnnie Morton

NFLPD subset card of Jessie Tuggle. That facemask alone frightens me.

Not the best pack rip in terms of players, but the memories of busting this helped cover that up. I may go back and try another seeking out that PMG or even an autograph as they were starting to be added. Will post on here if I do!

Episode 10: Feeling Invicible In This Pack Break

The mid to late 90's had some of the coolest base card set around. One of those was 1997 Pacific Invincible. I can't tell you how many great Pacific products there were as I can't even count that high but this was one of them. Sadly it didn't last long as a product line.

Every pack of 1997 Pacific Invincible you will find three cards. I paid a tad more for this one than a few other packs landing me a $2.50 price. Each pack comes with one Invincible base and one smash mouth or two smash mouth or one smash mouth and one insert.

Pack odds

Nice addition to my Kerry Collins PC. Smash Mouth insert.

No parallel or insert for me, another Smash Mouth. This time Jim Miller

And my Invincible base was Troy Davis rookie. I really dig all of the foil and inset acetate photo.

Back of the card

Most may say ,waste of money. Not me. I was pretty happy with this and I am planning on adding the Pacific Invincible base set to my needs soon. I can cross Troy Davis off so far.

Episode 9:Getting Focused On A Pack Of 1999 Fleer Focus Football

I am back at busting packs again and will be over the next few days before going back to show off some other sweet cards I got in a trade.

Today's product is 1999 Fleer Focus. Not one I personally remember all that well but one I did bust back in the day. What I do remember most about the product is finding a ton of it when I bought my friends collection ten years ago. He got out as I got deeper into collecting.

Let's check out this rip.
Every hobby pack of 1999 Fleer Focus football has five cards. Each pack cost $3,99 then but I landed this one for $1.50. So well worth it to me. I was hoping for a Kurt Warner rookie card but being 1:2 packs for short printed rookies, the odds were not in my favor.

Back of the pack for you odds lovers

Isaac Bruce

Dorsey Levens who spent a very short time with my Giants

Mushin!

One of the NFL greats, hard to admit that but I watched him tear apart my Giants one too many times

A rookie!!! Oh, that's not Kurt Warner. But, kickers are people to and he was a decent one as well.

Overall, not a bad pack rip at all. Landed an Sp rookie and pulled a Hall Of Famer base. Worth every penny.

Episode 5:Busting A Pack Of 1999 Collectors Edge Advantage Football!

Welcome back for another episode of Now That's Some High Quality Cardboard. Today I will be busting a pack of 1999 Collectors Edge Advantage football.

I busted a ton of this in 1999. Can't even remember the amount of it I did but it was a lot. So why not dive back into some again?

Let's rip it.

Each pack of 1999 Collectors Edge Advantage comes with 10 cards. One of those cards will be a guaranteed Gold Ignot parallel. Plus there could be chances at short print rookie cards, inserts and possibly an autograph. I paid $1.50 for this one as opposed to the $3.99 grocery stamp I bet I once paid.

Here are the pack odds.

And here are the cards!

Simple design, but some good photography can be found on these. I do wish the team logo and name of the player weren't so big.

AIR McNair was also great on the ground with his feet

A solid back who didn't quite get the recognition he should have. Probably because he was on the Bengals.

Rookie Card sighting! These fall 1:2 packs. Too bad I had to grab Denson out of the 38 rookie offerings, but it's still nice to land something.

The gold Ignot parallel. Just a stamp.

Solid pack of players in this box. Martin had a great career with the Patriots and the Jets. The question is, which team do you associate him more with? I can't choose just one.

Garrison Hearst was another great back that lacked top reputation.

Not a bad pack rip for the price. A decent amount of star power, a Sp rookie pull and Kordell being the parallel makes it worth the rip alone. The memories of opening was really the aim here and it worked.
