Two New Toomers!

I don't think any of my other PC's have grown quite as fast as my Amani Toomer one has teh last few months. I have been adding some cool, cheap numbered cards for now.

I still haven't moved up a lot on TCDB in terms of Toomer stats, but also have a few more to add as well. It will take a long time before I can be in the top running.

Here are two of my lastest adds,

I love nothing more than a relic card that spells out a name or team name. On top of that, GAME USED!! This Fabric Of The Game Team Name is numbered to 99.

The Next Card is from 2000 Fleer Focus. Kind of a boring parallel in comparison to others at the time.

Draft Position cards are numbered to 204 or at least the Toomer is.

A couple more pickups are on their way including one in a trade. Thoughts on these adds welcomed in comments.

Kerry's Cardboard:2000 Fleer Focus Draft Position Parallel

All of my Kerry Collins additions have to be interesting ones to start off. I will do all I can to save the base for last.

I like refractors, jersey cards, autographs, cool looking cards and numbered ones especially. Numbered cards in the era that Collins was on cardboard was an era where they actually mattered. Especially the lower numbered ones. You really need to make sure you chase those as you may never see them again. I sadly just lost out on one /30 from 1998 Contenders Leather football. I forgot to toss in a bid and it went cheap unlike the two others listed on eBay for $50 OBO. I refuse to pay that, well, I don't have that to pay.

Today's pickup is a numbered parallel that I hadn't ever heard of before. Of course it came out in the hobby around the time I had stepped away,  but I also hadn't seen many listed either.

So here is today's Kerry's Cardboard, a 2000 Fleer Focus Draft Position Parallel.

These Hobby Exclusive cards have the Draft Position wording on the front along with a minor blue foil change to the name and the word focus.

 

The parallel is numbered to 100 but also is numbered to what ever the players Draft Position was. Kerry Collins was the fifth pick of the 1995 draft so you take the number 100 and add a 5 to it. So his card is numbered to 105. Other players are different depending on their draft position.

Not the most exciting parallel in the world, but for a few bucks and the fact it's from the early 2000's, it's a worthy pickup.

Episode 9:Getting Focused On A Pack Of 1999 Fleer Focus Football

I am back at busting packs again and will be over the next few days before going back to show off some other sweet cards I got in a trade.

Today's product is 1999 Fleer Focus. Not one I personally remember all that well but one I did bust back in the day. What I do remember most about the product is finding a ton of it when I bought my friends collection ten years ago. He got out as I got deeper into collecting.

Every hobby pack of 1999 Fleer Focus football has five cards. Each pack cost $3,99 then but I landed this one for $1.50. So well worth it to me. I was hoping for a Kurt Warner rookie card but being 1:2 packs for short printed rookies, the odds were not in my favor.

A rookie!!! Oh, that's not Kurt Warner. But, kickers are people to and he was a decent one as well.

Overall, not a bad pack rip at all. Landed an Sp rookie and pulled a Hall Of Famer base. Worth every penny.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?! PART 6

WHAT'S IN THE BOX??!!!! I yelled, well, quietly yelled to myself making a movie reference from the ending of Seven. Cause honestly like Brad Pitt, I had no idea what was inside this shoe box.

Not long ago, there was another one of these Materialistics in this box. The previous one, Roger Clemens. Materialistics are not game worn jersey, but just an image that is printed on jersey type material. There are two variations to some which are home and away jerseys. My Gaffney is a home jersey.

In this Fleer Focus product there were box topper ones and regular sized card ones. This one is a box topper.

Not a bad find. I think these are pretty cool and glad I have one for both football and baseball. These are something I don't believe has been done since, so it makes a bit more of a fun collectible. At least to me it does.

Midway through the box, I discovered a couple of box toppers I had pulled from 2003 Fleer Focus Jersey Edition. The cards were called Materialistic and were printed images on jersey type material. This particular one is for my Yankees PC and of Roger Clemens.

How come box toppers aren't as creative as this anymore when we do find one? I think having something like this makes a box even more tempting to try as it's like pulling an extra hit.
