I have been putting myself out there more for trading since the pandemic. It's an adjustment from the change of the overall hobby landscape for myself. Without trading, I won't be seeing many cards make their way to my mailbox.

The results of putting myself out there more has been very beneficial for my collection as I have added some cool cards I didn't have before.

One of my recent trades was made with @stevenweeks1217. Not only did it haul me in some NEW Kerry Collins, some set needs and some fun 90's inserts, but he also had a few Giants I needed for my collection. You can see the rest of my goodies on Twitter I hauled in this trade. 

I plan on bringing back the Kerry Collins Cardboard segment back at some point and it will be on here breaking down my newest finds. I will do Giants uniform only though to stay TRUE BLUE on here.

Anyways, let's move onto my small haul of Giants from this trade.

I don't remember having this Skybox Premium Ron Dayne as I don't have a lot of Dayne. I was on hobby hiatus in 2000. What a terrible time to have taken off to with Brady in the mix!

The next card is this 2008 Topps Chrome rookie refractor of Mario Manningham. I still to this day am amazed by Eli's throw and Manningham's catch in Super Bowl 46. If you haven't seen that one, do yourself a favor and head to YouTube.

 

The final card is stunning, there is nothing like these 1994 Finest refractors. Today's refractors don't come close. I had the base Meggett but not the refractor until now. 

And in the package was this surprise tattoo,

 

I will use this on my binder cover, but unpeeled.

Giants Cardboard:My First Breakdown of 2021

 

Gavin from Baseball Card Breakdown blog and I usually do many PWE trades over the years but the last couple we, mostly I have been slacking. Not sure why because Gavin always sends some great stuff in return and somehow finds Giants cards I don't have. 

It simply must be the fact I don't always know what to send. Hopefully I will figure that out soon so I can keep getting these fun exchanges going with Gavin.

I didn't have the Phil Simms to kick off this post and same goes for Justin Pugh rookie Chrome refractor right here either.

Sometimes I forget that Ron Dayne (1st round pick) and Tom Brady (6th round pick) came out of the same draft. The Giants first round pick in Dayne didn't quite pan out as hoped, unlike that later pick Brady guy, but had his bright spots. I have never seen this rookie of him, though I do own some 2000 Ultra, and I dig it. Love that years design and photography.

I keep hoping for a healthy full year Sterling Shepard where he just blows away the field. You sometimes can see the talent and then he just gets lost. Just like Evan Engram, I hope Shepard can show what he can do in 2021.

One guy that always came to play was Amani Toomer. This guy was completely underrated in the NFL putting up some solid numbers even with some of the QB's he had to play with.

And to finish this mail day, a new Eli for the chase.

Twitter Has Me Piled In Mail Days

It's fun getting mail days and it's fun getting them all at once, but being a blogger and blogging them all in a good time frame, not so much.

I know a lot of bloggers especially are not really fond of the whole Twitter scene, but I really like it. I think it all depends on what type of people you follow on there if you will enjoy it or not. I just don't follow anyone. They have to be specific to what I like. I mean, why wouldn't you follow someone specific to what you collect or have the hobby's best interest in mind?

Recently I was a recipient of some freebies via @NGTCollectibles Sunday giveaway thread. Sadly, unlike most of the ones I have mailed to in the past, I am actually going to thank my givers even though I am a tad late.

@gingersnap4004 had this DK Metcalf up for grabs and I needed this one for my rookie PC, so I asked nicely if I could have it and he sent it. Thanks man!

The next mail day was supposed to be a one card grab from that thread for the EX set I am building but he ended up sending three more towards my set chase. This has gotta be right up there with the greatest looking base sets all time. I may have to do a ranking on that some day.

The final mail day I need to catch up on from Twitter is my first trade from @goingdeepe who had some NY Giants relics he thought I could use.

Well, he was right. I don't turn down any Giants relics no matter the player.

Ron Dayne. Been adding a lot of Daynes recently, not even on purpose.

And another Dayne. I was always back on forth on him whether I was a fan or not because his play was so up and down.

Rueben by far is my biggest "hits" PC I have for the Giants. Nobody is even close.

As this article shows, Twitter can be a great place. I do understand some of the bloggers that do see the dark side of it, I just flip through or unfollow those types so I don't have to see it. But, Twitter is basically what you make of it and if you use it right, it can be quite a positive experience.

Generosity Aplenty

What a great way to end May is to show off my latest, greatest mail day from @JGfan24ever whose generosity is far beyond what I can sometimes comprehend.

This time he sent a box of goods with a variety of different PC landings.

Some Ken Griffey Jr. That Studio card is one of my favorite base card Griffeys and that American Hero is a new one for that dreaded set. They made so, so many of those and I have so, so far to go still.

NY Yankees including Jeter and Rivera. Really enjoy looking back at the old Collectors Choice cards. Brings back warm memories.

Gleyber! Off to a decent start this year but not quite the home run total I hoped he would be at.

Gleyber x2. Really dig this Optic.

Hakeem Nicks Contenders ROY

Ramses Barden relic.

The next few cards Michael was looking for good homes for because they were damaged in a fire. They aren't in mint condition, but, they are Giants relic cards and I wasn't going to turn those away at all.

Jeremy Shockey. I really like this design.

Plaxico Burress relic. He wins my vote for the best Free Agent pickup ever for the Giants. He changed that teams offense and helped Eli's career.

Speaking of Eli's career. Here's an Eli!

Ron Dayne! I always liked this design.

Hilliard. They may be my first relic card of his.

Greg Jones. Decent autograph but not so much on the field.

Kerry Collins. We all know my feelings on him.

Ron Dayne MVP Souvenirs. I like football swatches so much more than the plain relics.

And to finish it off, a graded Leather and Laces, though I don't see any Laces on it, of Tiki Barber. Great looking team color themed card.

A big thanks goes out to Michael for his generosity once again. I need to do some undigging and hit you back. i know you don't ever expect anything in return, but I can't just take this without doing something. Thanks again!

By the way, have any of you ever seen a graded card in such a big case? Holy moly going to have to find some place special to store that.

Tradin' On Up!

To keep the mail days rolling in, I made some small minor trades but bigger impacts for me PC ones. I was also fortunate to find traders that would let me mail PWE so I wouldn't have to find a way to pay for shipping which can usually take weeks to do.

My first trade was with Nachos Grande blog who had some stuff left over from his trade-athon. I had my eye on a couple non sport cards for my collection and was able to work out a trade with him for those.

 

Allen and Ginter Val Kilmer relic. Yeah I do already have one, but what's wrong with another?

 

And a Rancic auto. He was one of the winners from Donald Trumps reality show. He obviously wasn't "fired".

Thanks again to Nachos Grande for these cards. Hope we can do future deals down the road! Especially if you have more non sport.

Up next was a new trader in @Studdard2018 who had posted some sales and a few cards caught my eye so we made a quick trade.

 

Kyle Lauletta numbered relic. I have the base but not this one.

 

Ed Asner relic. A legend to me. He is also the only celebrity I know of to visit locally and put on a one man show. Sadly I missed it but my mother in law got to see it. She gave me a couple pictures of the legend.

 

Gigli relic of a robe I assume was worn by Ben Affleck

 

And finally a swatch from comedy legend Ben Stiller. I do have this one already but I will be more than happy to add one more and more than that.

Final mail day came from a new trader in @SpartanKing1534. I saw this Ron Dayne autograph he had up for sale and since I can't afford to buy cards, I usually initiate trades and luckily for me this one worked out great. I could finally take Dayne off of my NY Giants autograph needs list.

Great looking card and Dayne had a great signature.
