You are looking at Eli Manning card #1036.

The chase is continuing as I try to get to get to 1100 different and hopefully someday past 1400 so I can become the leader on TCDB. Of course, I don't think the Eli collector on there has updated anything in a long time so he may have even more by now. 

I would probably be closer if I counted my duplicates, but I trade those away instead for new ones. None of my collections on TCDB have dupes and I am not sure if the leader for Eli has counted his dupes to towards his 1400.

Another Step Closer

My collecting focus has been much better than it used to be. 

I have been able to finish up some sets, knock down some want list cards and keep with my main PC's of NY Giants and Non-Sports.

Which is a huge improvement from where I was. I think not having much money has helped me put my focus on things that matter most to my collection.

 

My recent mail day was this 1996 Topps Turf Warriors Dan Marino which brings me another step closer to this set. I have for the most part knocked down all of the key players in the set now.

It's a fun set with a felt background and player in the forefront. These fell 1:36 packs in 1996 Topps.

But, finding the other needs hasn't been easy so far.

I am hopeful I can complete this still, but it may take some patience.

Who Did It Better?

Last week I mentioned how I was chasing the 2023 Topps Aces set and how much I liked the design. However, I think a lot of us forget that Select had this design back in the 90's. So, a lot of re-use on it. Panini had done it most recent in a Pinnacle product and in their Donruss/Optic products before Topps jumped on board this year.

With that in mind, I am asking you, which company did their Aces insert better? Yes, I am excluding Select because nothing beats an original.

Topps?

 

Panini?

And let me know in comments which you think did it better and why. Also, try not to use the MLB logo aspect as your reasoning for not choosing Panini. I want you to think strictly design.

In my opinion, I like the Topps design slightly better due to the fact I like the shine behind the player. I think it brings out the card more.
