Mini Trades and RAK's

 

With my card room looking like an episode of Hoarders where they take you into the kitchen, I have mail days that were tucked away that really needed to have some light shone on them by posting them here.

We kick it off with a RAK mail day from @kevinspollen on the @NGTCollectibles Sunday RAK thread. This is a Topps Gold rookie card of Michael Strahan if you couldn't recognize him without that wonderful smile. Thanks Kevin for the card!

Up next, I made a small pwe trade with @JCannon and added my first non Rodney Hampton Mosaic cards to my Giants collection,

Thanks Josh for the two new additions. I can see why Mosaic has so much appeal to collectors. I may have to find some more for my Giants collection. I really like the look of the parallels from a distance.

The next card on here is yet another small PWE trade that I made from a sales thread I host on Twitter.

Daniel Jones has been one of the brighter spots for the team this season despite his numbers not fully showing it. I think a lot of people forget how athletic he is until they saw that long run against the Eagles. We will ignore the fact that he tripped and fell before he could reach the endzone but let's remember the rest of it.

This a new jersey card for the collection of Jones I have. I like relics that actually feature a full color photography. Also I dig the team colored border.

The final card caught my eye on the @employee84 PWE Friday thread I have spoken about many times. I miss out on many of the good cards on that thread, but occasionally will find something that at least catches my eye.

This Fred Taylor that @employee84 posted was one of those cards.

It was really hard to capture it's full beauty but I think you get the drift from what I did capture.

The back showing the card is numbered to 2500.

This is a perfect fit for my side PC of Taylor but also for my 90's Insert PC.

Glad to have finally given the appropriate shout outs and to have caught up on these mail days before they fall even further into the abyss I call my Card Headquarters.

Twitter Has Me Piled In Mail Days

It's fun getting mail days and it's fun getting them all at once, but being a blogger and blogging them all in a good time frame, not so much.

I know a lot of bloggers especially are not really fond of the whole Twitter scene, but I really like it. I think it all depends on what type of people you follow on there if you will enjoy it or not. I just don't follow anyone. They have to be specific to what I like. I mean, why wouldn't you follow someone specific to what you collect or have the hobby's best interest in mind?

Recently I was a recipient of some freebies via @NGTCollectibles Sunday giveaway thread. Sadly, unlike most of the ones I have mailed to in the past, I am actually going to thank my givers even though I am a tad late.

@gingersnap4004 had this DK Metcalf up for grabs and I needed this one for my rookie PC, so I asked nicely if I could have it and he sent it. Thanks man!

The next mail day was supposed to be a one card grab from that thread for the EX set I am building but he ended up sending three more towards my set chase. This has gotta be right up there with the greatest looking base sets all time. I may have to do a ranking on that some day.

The final mail day I need to catch up on from Twitter is my first trade from @goingdeepe who had some NY Giants relics he thought I could use.

Well, he was right. I don't turn down any Giants relics no matter the player.

Ron Dayne. Been adding a lot of Daynes recently, not even on purpose.

And another Dayne. I was always back on forth on him whether I was a fan or not because his play was so up and down.

Rueben by far is my biggest "hits" PC I have for the Giants. Nobody is even close.

As this article shows, Twitter can be a great place. I do understand some of the bloggers that do see the dark side of it, I just flip through or unfollow those types so I don't have to see it. But, Twitter is basically what you make of it and if you use it right, it can be quite a positive experience.

Golden Cardboard

A couple of weeks ago I got my very first mail day from weekly giveaway thread that @ngtcollectibles hosts on Twitter. That mail day was from @Metallicarl who is apart of the group.

I missed this past weeks entry to post on there and see what everyone else is looking for so I can send something along, but I think @Metallicarl must have taken note as he contacted me about some 1995 Fleer Ultra Gold Medallions he recently found in a collection he added since he saw on the blog I am chasing the set.

Let's check em out!

Whoa! I think all 12 are new but I will have to check. Right now I am a tad behind on adding set numbers to the blog I am needing. Hopefully will have time to update soon.

Hopefully I will be able to go onto next weeks thread and pay it forward which is the fun of the thread. Of course I wished people would post that I sent them something. Takes away some of the fun when they don't and I don't want to appear as just a claimer which I am not.
