My First Of 2024

Thanks to a RAK on Twitter, I added my first NY Giants rookie autograph of the year!!

The Giants drafted the RB/WR in the 5th round of this year's draft. Knowing that RB Saquon Barkley left, the Giants will have plenty of opportunity for the rookie running back and I am hearing he is looking good in OTA's.

My next goal is to add a Malik Nabers autograph. So far, no luck. But hopefully I can pull one off before the season begins.

Breakin Wax:2022 Sage Football Blaster Box

Even though I haven't been as big of a Sage fan since they lost their collegiate license, I still find myself wanting cards of the next rookie class, so I find some.

This was one of the last blasters sitting on the shelf so I took it. There are five packs per box and 60 cards overall. Blasters run $22.

The packs came silver, and the autograph pack was separate like it usually is. That actually drives me nuts.

One thing I immediately liked is the base card design. Bright, colorful base takes away from the usual white background with players featured in working out attire.

Cool write up on the back, but I do wished there were stats.

By the way, I pulled four of the Willis' in my box...

There are a few inserts to find as well which are just as bright and colorful

This Artistry Willis looks super cool. Marvel hero maybe?

And now onto the three autographs,

Did I miss a photo...nope. I got two autographs instead of three. Wonder if the third one was a better player?

I contacted Sage via Twitter and apparently have to mail in a bunch of stuff that sounds like a pain. So I may not bother and they want the receipt which I had already tossed.

Thoughts on my break welcomed in comments and whether you buy Sage products to.

Eli Is King

Eli Manning is becoming my second biggest player collection I have and I am not complaining.

With well over 700 cards now, Eli is still a far distant cry from Ken Griffey Jr's over 1,000, but will own sole possession of second soon with today's cards and more on the way soon.

Despite all of my passion for Rodney, Eli is my true blue heart of Giants football.

I didn't know much about the Ole Miss QB when he came out in the 2004 draft other than the fact he was Peyton's brother and what a shadow to live in. Expectations were and the Giants traded for Eli on draft day sending picks and Phillip Rivers who they drafted to San Diego for Eli.

I may have had my complaints about Eli. The turnovers, the fall on the ground take sacks.

But I was glad he was their Signal Caller

Their Captain

And Leader.

He was a Hero from living in the shadows of his big brother

To leading his team to two Super Bowl championships. Two memorable games that are forever embedded in my heart.

He is also out-of-this-world person working hand to hand with March Of Dimes and winning a Walter Payton Man Of The Year award.

Not to mention his comedic Brilliance in his commercials and TV spots. Just recently he made a joking reference to how Tom Brady couldn't beat the Giants in the Super Bowl and has been referred to many times as Tom Brady's father.

Eli is the true Giants blue and will forever be the face of the NY Giants for all that he has done on and off the field.

And to make that even more-so, about a week ago Eli signed on the dotted line and returned to the Giants in a front office position to help staff in the business development, marketing, and community and corporate relations areas. I also wouldn't be surprise if he didn't make a couple visits with Daniel Jones to help his progression.

This is why Eli will always be the Mann in my collection.

Thanks to @90sNicheFBCard for the trade and the new Eli acquisitions.

Arrivals:2020 Sage Hit Premier Draft Autograph Tae Crowder

With the final pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.....

The NY Giants select....

Tae Crowder, LB Georgia.

Which also makes him Mr. Irrelevant.

I am obviously hoping that he will be Mr. Relevant once he hits the field. The Giants need all the help they can get on defense and they definetley made sure to take a lot of it in when they did the 2020 draft.

I don't have much of anything for the Giants 2020 draft class so I took to the NGTcollectibles Sunday giveaway thread and @KevinSpollen saw my needs and passed along my first autograph from the rookie class.

Kind of a weak signature, but, hopefully he will make a big impact.

Card back

Thanks to Kevin for another great card. Very excited to add my first Giants 2020 draft auto.

If you guys haven't joined in on giving back in the NGTCollectibles thread go do so.It's a lot fun to be able to make someones day during these challenging times.

The New DJ In NY

In New York, there is a new DJ in town. Nope Derek Jeter didn't return, it's the NY Giants first round draft pick, Daniel Jones.

When it comes to cardboard, I don't have much at all in terms of Daniel Jones as opposed to the old DJ in NY which I have 300+ of.

I am still waiting to get a Jones autograph in hand and have watched many cheap ones leave eBay over the last few months since they drafted him. Including for $24.

The funny thing is I have put myself out there the last few months looking to trade for one and not a single bite. Last year I already had two Saquon autographs by now and he was by far the more popular pick.

At least I have some friends like @JGfan24ever who set aside guys like Daniel Jones and pass them along. In my recent mail day from Michael, I knew an autograph was coming but did not know about some other nice surprises within.

Two Sage Hit subset cards of DJ

 Base DJ from Sage Hit

 Panini Legacy rookie of Jones

Rodney Hampton base from Legacy.

And the autograph that I knew was coming. A nice College Ticket of Kyle Lauletta who still has a shot to make a roster run.

A thanks goes out to Michael yet again for another nice mail day. I hope to send you something else a little ways down the road to hit ya back.

In the meantime, readers, do you think the new DJ can live up to the old DJ and how popular he was in NY? For me, time can only tell.

You Spun A Webb Of Lies!

How dare you @JGfan24ever!!! You first asked if I saw your mail day post where you got a Davis Webb autograph card, which I didn't til you showed me. Then I said, please set that card aside for me only to be told it was gone. Well, it was gone alright.....gone in the mail to me!! I truly believed the card had disappeared especially after you sent the "Sorry" GIF's. You little stinker.

I can't thank you enough for this card..

You are one of the coolest, most generous collectors I am glad to know. Guess I may have to do some digging to pay back this kind of generosity.......

.99 Cents Ain't Bad

Wow, am I way behind on posts on here. Today's card I acquired way back in December on eBay. I don't usually go chasing down a lot of SAGE stuff now-a-days since they lost their NCAA license, but occassionally when I need an auto of a player it can sometimes be a cheap way to go.

This time Paul Perkins was staring at me at a bid of .99 so I said, hey, whatever if I get it I get it if I don't, I don't.

To my surprise, I was the only bidder and added this nice looking card to the PC for cheap.

Have you ever just bid on a card just because it was cheap?

Nuttin But The Hits:2015 SA-GE Hit High Series Blaster

This has been a tough year financially when it comes to the hobby, so to break a non-buying streak, I saw a markdown blaster box of 2015 Sage Hit High Series for $11.98 with 4 autographs, I said, why not.

Hoping one of those autos would be someone at least good.

Once again, the only problem I have with the SA-GE blasters is the autographs being packed separately. It takes the fun out of busting the other packs as you know they are all base cards. I will touch more on this at a different date.

For now, let's bust open an autograph pack.

While we are at it, since this autograph checklist is so deep, let's score my box per rookie and if they are still playing or not to grade my overall box.

My first autograph was of Dee Hart. Who? Well, I had to Google him. Apparently tried out for the Dolphins and never made it.
0-1 in this box so far.
Up next, Amario Herrera, another one of those Google Search guys. He was drafted by the Colts in the 6th round in 2015. Didn't make it there and then was cut by both the Titans and Redskins.

Make that 0-2 in this box.

Steven Nelson I had to Google as well. However, he is a current KC Chief and was a third round pick. Not bad here.
We will give this one some credit, 1-3 so far.

Shane Carden is the final pull. He was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent. Was cut then went to Montreal Alouettes.

So will give this one half credit. Not the NFL, but is still playing and a cool looking card. Numbered as well.
So final rookie score, 1 1/2 out of 4. Ouch. Hopefully Carden will find his way back into the NFL, maybe even the Bears who need a QB.

Overall, I still think $11.98 is a good deal for this. Wished I had enough to picked up the second box I saw, but, hopefully next time it will still be there.

Thoughts on my break are welcomed below!

Breakin Wax:2015 Sage Hit High Series (Boom Found)

I have mentioned this before, but Sage Hit isn't usually a hobby box buy for me. I usually do retail only. However, after my last success with a 2014 box and pulling a Teddy Bridgewater, I talked myself into trying a 2015. Glad I did.

Once again, I forgot a box picture. Sorry! But here is a breakdown of the product.

There is 72 cards per box. 12, yes, 12 autographs, 58 base cards and 2 The Write Stuff inserts. Boxes will run ya about $50 which isn't too shabby for 12 autographs.

Here were my The Write Stuff Inserts. Not too bad.

Now onto the autographs. I decided not to show base since I have done that already in the past.

Nova was a Giant so that's a good PC piece I didn't have.

Golden could be a star one day.

Autographs looked a little better with these two.

But definitely didn't touch this bad boy! BOOM TODD GURLEY!
The Gurley also happens to be a pretty nice looking card as well.

Overall, 12 autographs, a few decent ones and a boom. Can't complain about this hobby box buy. It may actually tempt me to try another Sage Hit hobby instead of retail.

What are your thoughts on my break and on Sage Hit?

Breakin Wax:2014 Sage Hit Low Series Football (NICE PULL)

Sage Hit not normally a product I buy hobby of as it's usually a retail buy for me, but with a price under $30 and 8 autographs, how could I not gamble a bit.

In every box of 2014 Sage Hit, you will get 30 packs with 4 cards per pack. There are 8 autographs per box with a box on average carrying a price of $40. I found mine on sale for $29.

Here are the silver parallels I found. Bridgewater and Bortles led the group!

Gold parallels, Write STuff, ROY, and Artistry insert. All pretty nice with the rainbow foil involved.

Start of the autographs. Not too many big names here...

Things get better here with Hyde, Thomas and former NY Giant Xavier Grimble (the Grimble is good to me for that reason)

But things got explosive when I found this Teddy in my box /100!!!!
Overall, I obviously rocked this box out for the price I paid. The Teddy looks even better in person. I haven't had the chance to look at the base cards closely, but I have been told that U.S. Presidents had photobombed some and if you find all of them you win an autograph set. I think it would be cool just to find one. I will let you know if I do.

Now I gotta ask, how many of you buy Sage products? Your thoughts on them? Let me hear it all!
