Mail Day Saturday:Reader Mail Day Part VIIII

Part VIIII is absolutely loaded with football Prizm awesomeness. Some from 2016 and some from 2015. Either way, it's a winner.

Up first, lots of rookie Prizms including DROY Joey Bosa. Oh yes, Kevin White is in there to but I guess with his playtime in 2015 this could be a rookie of him haha.

These will bring a sparkle to your eye. It's not just the border, it's the bubbly pop in the background. Just incredible.

Lot's of color in this group with Carson Palmer. The bottom make me think I need to jump into the card and I will be transported to that game.

Some shining stars that are actually shining! I sure hope Todd Gurley can shine again.

Only two-parts remain in this mail day. One is a bit chromey, the other, hits loaded. I will take a break from those parts next week and showcase another recent mail day that was a big help and cheap acquisition towards my Psych autograph set chase. Some Shine:Grady M Mail Day Part 7

As every reader of this blog knows and as most hobbyists feel, there is nothing better than something shiny.

I think Grady definitely knows I feel this way as the next three posts will cover the shiny in many different brands and sports.

Up first, I am totally digging these Prestige X-tra points from 2016. They look superb!

Up next, some shine from Donruss along with some numbered cards. I guess I didn't do so well with sorting this group out.

And we end it with some pretty slick cards from Donruss Elite. The Encarnacian is numbered to 50 and has a nice die-cut.

Breakin Wax:2014 Sage Hit Low Series Football (NICE PULL)

Sage Hit not normally a product I buy hobby of as it's usually a retail buy for me, but with a price under $30 and 8 autographs, how could I not gamble a bit.

In every box of 2014 Sage Hit, you will get 30 packs with 4 cards per pack. There are 8 autographs per box with a box on average carrying a price of $40. I found mine on sale for $29.

Here are the silver parallels I found. Bridgewater and Bortles led the group!

Gold parallels, Write STuff, ROY, and Artistry insert. All pretty nice with the rainbow foil involved.

Start of the autographs. Not too many big names here...

Things get better here with Hyde, Thomas and former NY Giant Xavier Grimble (the Grimble is good to me for that reason)

But things got explosive when I found this Teddy in my box /100!!!!

Overall, I obviously rocked this box out for the price I paid. The Teddy looks even better in person. I haven't had the chance to look at the base cards closely, but I have been told that U.S. Presidents had photobombed some and if you find all of them you win an autograph set. I think it would be cool just to find one. I will let you know if I do.

Now I gotta ask, how many of you buy Sage products? Your thoughts on them? Let me hear it all!

Fireworks Of Hits!

Today is the fourth of July. The time for celebration of our independence with BBQ s, parades, picnics and of course, fireworks.

I thought a fun way to celebrate this holiday card-wise would be to showcase some (I couldn't do them all or get all of the photos to upload) of the best fireworks, my hits, I have landed over the past three years. So sit back and enjoy the show!

Breakin Wax:2014 Sage Hit Low Series Blaster

When you are checking out the card aisle at Walmart and find a markdown box at $12 with three autographs in it, how do you keep on walking? I stopped in my tracks and grabbed it.

Now, the Low Series didn't have my boy Odell, but it did have enough on the checklist worthy of a buy especially with the strong 2014 rookie class.

If you missed the first time I broke one of these, well, here is what a base card looks like as a refresher.

Now onto the autograph hits. Once again I didn't hit it too big with Sage Hit, but still can't argue with the price.

Overall, a lot of base cards and low end autographs but can't go wrong with the price and having extra base card rookies. I must reiterate however that every time I open one of these I wished that Sage had packed the autographs in the packs as opening up a lot of packs of base is not very exciting.

#SundayFunday Contest # 1:Football

Well, it has been awhile since I have done a giveaway and there may be many reasons for that. One, giveaways are very time consuming sometimes. Two, I have been setting aside my prizes for the fall when I possibly host the Player Of The Day contest. Three, the last few giveaways I have held there seems to be a lack of interest in them. I mean, 10-12 entries doesn't seem worth it.

But, with so much generated interest around the #SundayFunday giveaways and all of the generosity I have seen and been given recently, I decided to join in on the fun. So for the next 4-5 weeks I plan on joining in on the #SundayFunday fun. Mine however, will have contests hosted on here and more than one day to enter.

For my first Sunday, with the recent draft being held, I thought I would kick it off with a football giveaway.

I have only ever lost one package so the chances of arrival are high. If the package is lost, stolen or damaged, I may replace them with something else. But, don't always count on that and try pulling the "they were lost" thing. Sport Card Collectors will make the final decision. Failure to follow any of the rules, you will be asked to forfeit your prize.

4. Since this is a #SundayFunday contest, this contest will start today May 10th 2015 and end next Sunday, May 17th 2015, at 12:00 am e.t. where a winner will be announced before or around 10am e.t. that morning. That way a full Sunday to Sunday. There will be a random 7 times to pick the winner.
5. The winner will have ONE WEEK to claim their prize once they are chosen or they will forfeit it and it will be re-given away..

Review: 2014 Panii Black Gold Football Hobby Box

Many months of being teased with previews of what appeared to be a great product and many drool galleries later. I finally got my hands onto this product. The previews did not serve this product justice as I was even more impressed in person.

In each box of 2014 Panini Black Gold Football there are 2 packs with 4 cards per pack meaning only 8 cards for roughly $210. Yes, that's right. This is a high end product. But, a very well done one.

BASE CARDS
They are awesome. All base cards, both rookies and veterans, are printed on a very unique shadowbox design. These cards are thicker point cards with high gloss. This kind of technology used on the base cards reminds me of something they might have used in the 90's. Kudos to Panini for thinking outside the box with a shadowbox base card design.

THE HITS!
Panini stands true to the product name throughout the product. The cards are black, the writing is gold. And the feeling of magic takes place as Panini combines both Panini Black and Panini Gold Standard to make some pretty nice hits.

My first hit from the pack was this Bortles. I have seen these with all laundry tags and patches. Look great.

GET AWAY BOYD!!! You are always in my face..I mean box. Nice design as well. I preferred pulling a Sizeable Signature that is a jersey/auto silhouette taken to the next level. Just look a few up on eBay.

 

Defensive player of the year was up next. I really like the design of these. Very nice layout.

You will find two of these Seal Of Approvals per box as well. These either contain an NFL or team logo medallion done in the thick shadowbox design as well. These are pretty cool. They are usually numbered to 149...

Unless you get a parallel. And hey look, I did. Mr. Manziel! The medallion is silver and numbered to 25.

And my final hit was BOOM. A 14k gold swatch of Teddy Bridgewater. These are limited to 20 unless you get a team or NFL logo engraved in the gold then they become more rare. These were brought in from the Gold Standard part of the product and make for a very nice addition. I would take 14K gold over any one-color jersey swatch any day!

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Very classy and impressive looking product. There is ton of potential and big hits waiting to happen here. I only had one problem with the product, the fact it was printed black. What do I mean by that? Well, some of the cards in the pack had chipping problems on the back. Not bad, but still a tad noticeable with someone who has hobby OCD....like me.

And one more tiny problem, me not having the right size cases handy for these cards. Some are extremely thick due to the shadowbox layout. Just look at them.

 

Got to be something I contact BCW Supplies about to see what they have to offer.

In a final closingnote, I am sure the price-point for the product jumped out at you for 8 cards. One thing to remember is all products you buy have risks and rewards no matter the cost. Some may have a bigger payoff in the end when you get the big hit which is why some products cost so much. If you can't afford a product like this, I still recommend getting your hands onto some of the cards for your PC. They are well done. Easier ways to do that is group breaks or buying singles.
