The Gifts Flew In

It's almost five days short of being Christmas a month ago. A MONTH AGO. I can't believe how fast January has gone but I am not complaining. It feels to be the longest month...and coldest one. I am ready to move on.

I received many mail days in or around Christmas and held them until Christmas to open. A couple of those mail days were actually gifts and one of those I am posting today.

This was my mail day Christmas gift from blog reader Oren.

Two unopened packs of 1996 Fleer Ultra Sensations opens up this mail day. I did open one pack and did keep one sealed...for now. The results from the one or both will be posted at a later date.

Santa cards, all are new! Love the shiny one.

Sterling Shepard auto!! It's numbered to 15.

Looney Tunes

And we close it out with a 10-card set from 1996 Fleer Smoke N Heat.

Big thanks to Oren for the Christmas gift. I appreciate it buddy!

More posts to come as I continue to catch up on mail days.

25 Days Of Cardmas Day 9:Coach Santa

Can you imagine a chunky guy in red suit coaching a football team to a big win...oh, sorry Chiefs fans.

Coach Claus is looking for a way to lead Da' Deers back to the playoffs and make another run at another Super Candy Cane Bowl with his Snowflake offense and Chimney slide play.

According to the back of this card, it appears he has won the MVIP award again and netted another Wiseman Trophy for giving Playoff card to all of the good boys and girls.

Back in the 90's I had both coaches I liked and disliked. One of the most disliked coaches coached my Giants team. No it's not Ray Handley as I wasn't much into football then, it was Dan Reeves. He was a terrible coach for the Giants and ran the team into the ground before Jim Fassell brought it back to life.

Two of my favorite coaches in the 90's were Tom Coughlin for the Jaguars (who later on coached my Giants team to 2 Super Bowls) and Mike Shanahan of the Denver Broncos. I liked watching both of those teams play, particulary the Jags, in the 90's. They were my second and third favorite teams back then. Those coaches just knew how to win and connect with their players like Coach Claus does.

Good luck to Coach Claus and 'Da Deers if he is still coaching them this year. Hopefully they remember to wear masks so they won't be fined even in the North Pole.

Who are your favorite and least favorite coaches and managers?

25 Days Of Cardmas Day 7: Prism Santa

Between 1991 to roughly 1997, NFL Properties released 5 to 10 to even 12 card Santa sets featuring the base card designs that year for the NFL products.

There are many of these to collect and I just got my sleigh underway in doing so.

One of the first ones I had to grab was this 1993 Pacific Prism version. Prism was one of the cooler products in the early to mid 90's.

It also ties into my life of collecting.

Towards the end of 1993, I had just started to find both sports and sport cards interesting. Most likely I didn't find any cards under my tree that year as at that point I was die hard Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan and most likely asked for as many figures I could get of them from Santa.

But, it's good to see that Santa has great taste in his cards if he went home to open a box for himself of the Prism.

What is one of your first products you asked Santa for under your tree?

Needing Some Ho's

I have been posting on Twitter for a long time now without a lot of feedback that I am on the lookout for holiday themed cards.

Christmas is my favorite time of year, I could literally just blog about it all year, so I thought it was time I translated my passion for Christmas and cross it over to my hobby.

What am I looking for exactly?

ANY AND ALL of the cards posted in today's post (images borrowed from eBay)

Or any Pro Set, Fleer, Ultra, Pinnacle, Pro Line Santa cards you can send. Also, any Topps or Bowman Holiday Sp's (especially the 2019 Sp's with candy cane bats, Santa hats, presents) or Parallels such as snowflake, red-green sweater like this Turkey card, or cards that involve anything about Christmas such as the memorabilia cards with Santa hat swatches, socks, ugly sweaters, etc.

I would be more than happy to PWE trade for them or if they are just collecting dust in your house send them my way. I will put them to great use. Contact me on Twitter or my email sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Soon, I plan to gather what I have, which isn't much, and put them in a Christmas binder to be used every year for the holidays and for posts on here for those times of year.

Thanks everyone!

Merry Christmas From Upper Deck And Ken Griffey Jr.

First off, I wanted to show off this really cool 90's card I picked up off eBay for my Griffey PC. This isn't something I have seen before on there or even knew of. It seems Upper Deck came up with the Christmas hat idea long before Panini had since this card is from 1999.

The card itself is a 5X7 with a swatch of Griffey worn Santa hat.

This may be my newest favorite addition to my PC.

I hope you guys agree that this is pretty cool. I couldn't believe I scored it for much cheaper than most were going for on eBay.

While I also have your attention, I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday depending on how you look at it. I hope you enjoy time with your loved ones and find yourself some wax under the tree. May all of you also have a safe holiday as well.

Have a great one guys and remember if you have time today, this blog will be flooded with a new Random Card On My Desk post EVERY HOUR!
