Let's Talk About Sets 27:1995 Studio Gold Baseball
Sometimes it takes credit cards and gold for me to do sets.
That's exactly what got me drawn to 1995 Studio Gold.
Beautiful cards using player stats for it's credit card layout.

There are 50 cards in the set, there is a silver version as well with just as many cards that I only have one card of, but the gold one I have this many of,
3,6,9,10,11,12,13,15,17,26,27,28,29,31,32,34,39,41, 48,49,50,
But luckily thanks to @CardpocalypseNC, I was able to knock two more down including a Griffey I surprisingly didn't have.
More sets talk coming up!

Let's Talk About Sets Volume 3
Let's talk about sets baby
Let's talk about it with me
Let's talk about all the good things
And the bad things that may be
Let's talk about sets (1995)
Let's talk about sets (Studio)
Let's talk about sets (Uh huh)
Let's talk about sets....
1991 song by Salt-N-Pepa was about a much different topic than I am turning it into. You see, I am staying on topic with cards. Not,well, what they were talking about. This newest segment about the 90's will focus on my set chases (the ones I have already used for a Origins Post or don't plan on using) and new additions to them along with updates on how far I have gotten.
It's time for us to sit down and have that discussion between your parents and you that you tried to avoid. You know, that conversation you have with them about the Flairs and the Pinnacles. Kids, it's time to Talk About Sets.
So grab a can of Surge and take a seat in the thinking chair and check these out.
In my trade with Julie from A Cracked Bat: Baseball Cards and a Hot Dog, I was able to knock a few more set needs down. Today, it was 1995 Studio.
I never bought any of these when I was younger, but I did land a few from yard sale finds and they caught my attention immediately. It also made me feel like an adult carrying out credit cards.
Of course as an adult you realize how evil credit cards really are and that you would only really want to own these instead.
Julie was able to knock three down for me.
Roberto Alomar who I best remember as an Indian.
Manny Ramirez who I best know as a Red Sox player I hated lol.
And Marquis Grissom who I remember most for being a Brave.
Thanks for the set help Julie! If you guys can help me out in my set chase, you can find the rest of my needs for this set and others in 1995,
Also, remember to get your cards sorted and not neutered!

REVIEW:2016-2017 Studio Basketball
For the first time since 2009, Studio makes its return to the court with a new format and configuration. It's a nice change of pace for basketball collectors.
So let's see how this product goes with it's return.
Breakout Signatures, Studio Signatures and First Impact Relics.
So let's see how this product goes with it's return.
In every box of 2016-2017 Studio basketball, you will find 10 packs with 6 cards per pack. There will be one autograph and one memorabilia card per box. Boxes will run around $90.
The base set is a tiered. The first 100 cards work with action images on a Collectors Edge plastic feel base cards. I totally loved the look of these. There are rookies, stars and legends included.
Cards number 101-200 are part of the Studio Edition subset. These display player portraits and average 15 per box.
Completing the base set ,#201-300, are 100 Sketch cards. These fall 1 per box and give an artists impression of the base.
This would be one big challenge for a set collector but I think it would be a fun one since all levels look really nice. There are also base card parallels such as, Teal /15 and Gold 1/1.
My only parallel of the box was an unnumbered glossy from the Studio subset.
The inserts in the product have the base card feel and rainbow shine. I really enjoyed them.
Rock Solid is a tougher insert find and fall 1:40 packs or one in 4 boxes. I lucked out with probably the best of the 10 card set.
There are also From Downtown inserts that showcases original artwork and is one of the rarest inserts in the set falling about 1 per case.
Now onto the hits!
My first hit was an Influencers relic.
My second pull was 100 times better than the first. Celebrated Signatures of Scottie Pippen /49.
Other hits not found in my box are,
Breakout Signatures, Studio Signatures and First Impact Relics.
OVERALL, Really solid break. Pippen auto and a tough to find Kobe insert head the break not to mention top rookies I found. I really like the tiered base set and all three tiers look nice. The inserts are full of shine. I really don't have any complaints and would be tempted to break another box if the opportunity presented itself.
Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Panini America for providing this box for me to review and to be able to do a future GIVEAWAY with some of the cards. Follow Panini America on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well.

Countdown to Panini's Father's Day Promo 2013 Begins!
As most know, I am a fan of what Panini America has been doing. And one of my favorite things is their special promotions such as Black Friday and one thats coming up soon in Father's Day. Without an LCS nearby its hard to participate in these promotions at one but luckily last year I was able to participate when I was on vacation (I must also note that there is an online component)
My review of last years promo of the packs I broke can be found here:

Who didn't have some Studio cards in their collection? This was always unique since the card is all about the player and not so much the field. Its almost like a year book photo on cardboard. I remember trying to complete the set and display them in an album. Makes me want to go and find them now....
Dual sided Team Pinnacle returns bringing you back two stars on a piece of cardboard. Brought me back to when I pulled a Ken Griffey Jr version once and thought I had won a million dollars. Still gives me shivers as it was one of my favorite insert pulls for awhile when I was a kid.

Yesterday Panini revealed some of the base cards (can't wait til they reveal the autographs and memorabilia for this set as well) for this years 44 card set and I am impressed. Panini took classic themes from when I had first started collecting and brought them back for 2013. This really makes me sit back and think about the times I collected with my dad. And I think these designs will do that and that was the plan for this years set by Panini. Whether you were a son or daughter collecting with your dad, or a dad collecting with your son or daughter these designs should bring up those classic collecting memories.

And who could ever forget Museum Collection. I do wish these were done in the Dufex technology however since thats the way I remember them but I am still very impressed with the design done here.
Whether young or old, this years Fathers Day set should help give you the extra boost to get out to your LCS and participate (or at least participate in the online version). Not to mention you can use Fathers Day as leverage for why you are buying extra boxes or packs of cards that day.
