The Ring

As a kid who grew up in the 80's and 90's, if you wanted to grab a girls attention on recess, you would buy them a ring.

Yes, a ring...pop.

Ring Pop is still a popular candy that was invented in 1979 from a guy who was trying to help his child no longer suck her thumb. His little idea blossomed into so much more. I tell my wife everyday all it would take is one little odd idea and we could be rich. We just need that starting point first.

What I didn't know about Ring Pop is that Topps produces the product and has been for quite some time.

And one of their newest releases of the product is unique and saves you a trip to the dentist.

Ring Pop Puppies is a toy collectible that was recently released. It takes the Ring Pop concept except it's a toy.

Here is the packaging for it front and back,

After you open it up, you pull out the plastic ring so please no sucking or licking it.

The ring has a small flap you lift up and BOOM, a cute little puppy can be found. The puppy isn't made of plastic like the ring. It is much more durable being made of rubber based.

According to the 22 pup checklist for Series 1, the one I pulled is named Niko. There are rare versions to chase as well of Goldy and Sparkles. They are gold and silver versions. You can find packs of these at Walmart and Target stores and find more information on these on the Topps website, HERE. Pack usually run a little under $3 each.

I think this is a pretty cool idea and one that could get kids excited especially trying to collect them all with the mystery packs and chasing the rare versions.

Can you imagine how popular I would have been back in my youth had this product came out then? What girl didn't like puppies and rings?
