Double The Cardboard, Double Up The Posts, Double The Fun

Today you get to be blessed with two, yes, two posts from me. I am soooooooooooooooooooo far behind on posts that I needed to double up on one of them. As of now, I have posts going to the beginning August and possibly beyond if I throw all of the Rodney Hampton ones in there and the huge mail days I have coming up soon.

So I thought I would double up today's posts with a mail day that's as fresh as this post. I literally opened up these two surprises five minutes ago.

The first one came from @ValleyOfCards who sent me some set help for my 2015 Americana chase. You will hear more about them in a couple of days when I post a bigger mail day they sent me.

My second mail day was completely unexpected. Trevor from Bump and Run Football Card Blog sent me a great mail day.

Some Gmen to get us started. I don't have any of the Legacy inserts that are not Rodney Hampton so Odell was a nice add. Jonathan Hankins Bowman Rookie and parallel I didn't have either. Really wished the Giants had picked him back up and a sweet Ottis Anderson Super Bowl ticket I didn't either. There was another one, but that's coming up.

Shockey! I have never seen these before. Glad to have added this one as he will always remain my favorite Giants TE ever. Unless Engram shows me differently.

 Eli's huddling up with his poor offensive line, this group of players will look much different in 2019.

 Shiny Toomer. Shiny, new Gmen make me happy.

 I think this is the fifth one of these I have and I will never, ever get sick of adding more.

Speaking of a Super Bowl card, completely new add here. Super Bowl 42 will forever be my favorite Super Bowl and the most memorable. I can almost do a play by play I have seen it so much.

This one caught me by surprise. See what I did there. I missed it was an autograph the first time through til I started taking photos. I just liked the card for the photography but added auto is a bonus! Field Access was another one of those underrated products.

Then Trevor sent some 90's inserts because of my fondness of them as you all know. I mean I did change the blog name and created lots of new segments on here due to them.

 Parallels from 1995 Collectors Choice. I was a fan of Hearst

Warren Moon loved slinging it around. This is a silver parallel from 1995 Pro Line. I am thinking that once I get the base set filled, maybe I should attempt these parallels as well

Complain all you want about finding cards in a can, but I enjoyed it. You will find out how much in an Origins post. I pulled a ton of Druckenmillers back in the day.

 Old SI For Kids cards I always welcome

 I have an appreciation for Jake Plummer. Especially in a Cardinals uniform

The Absolute SSD set from 1998 was one of the coolest base sets around at the time. I have thought about building it many times but it may be a hard one to do so. But, you never know with me. This one would be a great start

 Craig Yeast, man didn't I ever pull ton of him.

Same with Andre Wadsworth. It would be awesome to have had Upper Deck still in the football game. I would have loved to had a Black Diamond card of Saquon Barkley!

 Charlie Batch Pacific insert. They sure loved adding the rainbow foil.

 Score insert I haven't seen before and I bought Score more than any other product.

And finally, not a 90's insert but looking at it you would think so. These Head Of Class were released in 2000 Fleer Ultra. To me the start of the 2000's were just as great of an insert time as the late 90's. It started to turn around 2004ish to what we have today. A sad time for inserts. 

The Troy Walters I didn't have and may now chase the set being my third of the insert. I have one of good ones in Shaun Alexander already so it's a good start.

What can I say? I love surprise mail days. Especially when they are like this covering both my Giants and love of the 90's. Thanks Trevor for the awesome surprise. I hope to hit you back with something soon for this as I really appreciated it. Thank you!

I hope everyone has a great day like I am having between the double mail day and full sunshine and BBQ. Can't ask for a better one.

Psych:The Complete Autograph Collection

After 5 grueling long years of knocking down one or two cards at a time, here is finally the complete autograph collection of Cryptozoic Psych Seasons 1-8.

This has been a long journey of ups and downs and time of trial. But, with lots of help from friends and family, my once long dream turned into a reality.

I need to thank quite a few for their help with this project with the biggest thanks going out to @90sNicheFBCard, who helped me a ton with these sets picking up the key cards. Another thanks goes out to my wife who helped add some of these as well. Other thanks goes out to @Jake1725 and @ShaneSalmonson who organized a birthday gift for me with help from others as well that deserve thank yous and landed me the biggest card I needed for the first seasons. Then of course a huge thanks for Wes for tracking down the final piece of the puzzle.

There were lots of fun names in both sets and even if I wasn't a fan of Psych like I am, I may have sought some of these names just to have it for my non sport PC.

Let's take a gander at the Seasons 5-8 set that I accomplished first. There are 26 cards in the set including a dual autograph of the main characters. There are plenty of great names in this set including Ralph Macchio, Jason Priestly, Diedrich Bader,French Stewart,

Anthony Anderson, and Val Kilmer just to name a few.

 

The Seasons 5-8 set was a tad easier to build with autographs falling 3 per box. They were much more plentiful. My biggest challenge was landing the dual autograph in the picture above which @90sNicheFBCard ended up finding for me.

The Seasons 1-4 set I almost didn't bother with. The autographs fell 1 per box which brought the pricing well beyond my budget. But, once I got the James Roday as my birthday gift, I started to slowly chip away through trades. Then came the final piece that Wes snagged and I was simply amazed that this all came together.

Once again, some fun names in here like Rachel Leigh Cook, Jaleel White,

 

And George Takei which I think is still my favorite autograph of the group in this set.

There are 37 autographs in total in both seasons and you just saw them all. Originally there was supposed to be 38 but I believe the lead girl in the show who was James Roday's girlfriend in real life I believe as well at one point, Maggie Lawson must not have wanted to do it so they never replaced her card in the set.

There were a few other characters I wished they could have had autographs of in the set, but sadly the show has ended so I don't ever to expect to see a Anthony Michael Hall or Cybill Shepherd or especially a Cary Elwes autograph. His character was iconic in the series as Pierre Despereaux.

Just because I am done with the Psych autograph series doesn't mean I am done with Psych. I still have lots of needs for the relics and still plenty of insert needs that need to be knocked off. I am hoping once again with the support of friends and family, we can make this happen. 

Once again thank you to all of you who played a role in helping me build this set. It means a lot to be apart of this great hobby community.

Review: Cryptozoic Psych Seasons 1-4

After 8 seasons, it's hard to say goodbye to such a great show. I still am wondering what USA Network was thinking about when deciding to pull the plug on this one. With a mix of detective work and comedy, it was a great blend with an incredible cast of characters.

I am posting this review on the day of the final episode as a way to say goodbye and thank you for the many on the edge of your seat moments, humor and maybe even a few tears.

Thank you Psych and I will continue to watch you on DVD.

DESIGN:
Full action shots of the actors and biggest scenes from seasons 1-4 all captured in 63 cards. I think Cryptozoic did a great job here capturing some of the best moments that stood out to me and looking back through them I can remember each of the scenes. The back of the card is a little displays another picture from the scene on the front with a small writeup about it.

I like the design here as it is wide open for the base cards.

The inserts are in need of a little work. Not to much glimmer on the Incognito and Henry's Wisdom ones (though I do like they put Henry's face at the bottom) but the Psychic Moments was my favorite with the rainbow foil making it seem Psychedelic. 

COOL NOTES:
The Incognito insert features Shawn and Gus with a little dab of Juliet in some of the undercover garb they wear. Which alone is hilarious to look at. Henry's Wisdom is lessons that Henry teaches Shawn, which we all know he wants nothing to be apart of. Finally the Psychic Moments reveal some of Shawn's big psychic moments on the show.

THOUGHTS:
I got this box for $35. But the moments are priceless. I think I did really good on this break by hitting the best Wardrobe card and one of the better autographs. In every box you get a base set, a decent amount of doubles. An autograph and a wardrobe card. Early on it may have been a little steep of a purchase for $60+. But right now, under $40, I will eat this up all day everyday with a side of pineapple.
