Upper Deck releases #FREE Hockey Card Day Checklist!

On Saturday January 18th, 2014 hockey card collectors in Canada and the USA will be lining up at a participating hobby shop to get a FREE pack of UD NHL cards just for visiting. That's right..FREE CARDS just for visiting.

Yesterday, Upper Deck released the checklist for the FREE HOCKEY cards in this promotion. There is quite a nice lineup with a mix of rookies from the Double Rookie class among legends of the game.

FREE HOCKEY CARDS??! Upper Deck says yes!

On Saturday January 18th, 2014 fans in Canada and the USA will be lining up at a participating hobby shop to get a FREE pack of UD NHL cards just for visiting. Also, at select retail locations fans can get a special 8-card sheet for free. That's not a typo..FOR FREE!

 

And since this is a special year with the double rookie class, Upper Deck has doubled the amount of rookies to appear in this set from five cards to ten! That's awesome. Collectors in Canada can chase down rookie cards of players like Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Huberdeau, Alex Galchenyuk, Nail Yakupov and Sean Monahan. While collectors in the USA can look for popular rookie cards of players like Tomas Hertl, Seth Jones, Petr Mrazek, Brock Nelson and Valeri Nichushkin. Meaning to complete a set you need 20 cards for both of each USA and Canada instead of the usual 10 to complete it.

Also available on National Hockey Card Day as a gift with any $10 purchase of current Upper Deck hockey cards is a special 21st bonus card for each set. These Memorable Moments cards feature two rookies each from Double Rookie Class. The Canadian version features Canadian-born players Jonathan Huberdeau and Nathan MacKinnon, while the American version features American-born players Alex Galchenyuk and Seth Jones. Who wouldn't want to add this to their collection!

Not to mention, these are not just base cards Upper Deck is handing away for FREE. Upper Deck will also be randomly inserting autograph cards for a handful of the players in the set in the packs as well!

National Hockey Card Day..WITH CONTEST!

Upper Deck put on another great and successful National Hockey Card Day in both the U.S. and in Canada. We were fortunate enough to get our hands onto three packs of each. We will showcase some of the cards here and at the end look for a chance to win a four card lot with two from US and two from Canada.

Each set for each US and Canada is of 15 cards. That are broken down into 5 card subsets. There are five cards per pack in each. One card is a checklist while others are the base cards. Also look for randomly inserted autographs. We didn't pull any. The card stock is very high gloss and a very well design for both as well. The checklists only allow you to hit star players. You cannot go wrong.

Upper Deck Mailday!! Review of National Hockey Card Day Packs

I recently was chosen and won a few Upper Decks National Hockey Card day packs. 6 to be exact. Here are my thoughts...

Wrappers: The wrappers are quite catchy. Really like the shine and the design on the front as well. I also like they made two different versions for Canada and the USA.

The Cards: I think the design is nice. I like they made 2 different versions. One for Hockey Card Day in Canada (above) and one for America (below). The cards stand out and even though its a 15 card checklist, they have a good mix of rookies and stars and old timers. We weren't fortunate enough to hit the long odds of an autograph, but those are in here to be found.

Overall: These packs were handed out to fans who went on a specific day to their hobby shop. Upper Deck was great and gave some of these away to fans on their Facebook page as well. Overall, you can't go wrong to get one of these packs for free or even if you had to pay for them. Nice looking and a chance to land a great auto.
